Disappointed by Billing Practices and Lack of Accountability I wish I could give NEGATIVE STARS. They are a corporation out for money, they don't care of patients. Even my acupuncturist that works with them said they used to care about patients and since they expanded the only care about money. I had an extremely frustrating experience with this fertility clinic, primarily due to their billing practices and lack of communication regarding insurance coverage. I underwent three IUIs and one medicated treatment cycle with this clinic. My first IUI cycle was covered by insurance without issue. However, for the subsequent cycles, the office began submitting diagnosis codes that did not align with my actual medical situation. As a result, my insurance denied coverage -- despite previously approving treatment. Even more concerning, required prior authorizations were not obtained when they should have been. This directly impacted my insurance coverage. Instead of correcting the issue or taking accountability, the clinic is now attempting to charge me self-pay rates for treatments that should have been covered. I am even being threatened with collections. Fertility treatment is already emotionally and financially overwhelming. Patients trust clinics not only with their health but also with proper insurance handling. Unfortunately, my experience felt more focused on revenue than patient advocacy or transparency. I strongly recommend that anyone considering treatment here double- and triple-check insurance authorizations themselves and document everything. I wish I had known to be more proactive. I will begin by saying that , I've been an off and on again patient with IVFMD since 2011. In 2024, I decided to return and start treatment with Dr. Woods. I've had several interactions with Dr. Wood throughout the years. I will say she's professional; however, her delivery is not always the best. Nonetheless, I prefer professionalism over delivery. Ultrasounds for Dr. Woods are conducted by techs or Nurses. Therefore, if you have any medical questions you want to ask during the procedure she won't be in the room. There is no real direct contact with Dr. Woods, unless it's during your consultation and after labs are conducted to discuss results and a treatment plan. I didn't complete the trratment with the practice so I can't say how the interactions are with Dr. Woods after that point. However, I believe it's sparse and few. You may see her only again on the day of retrieval. The exam rooms are not the cleanest. I've seen dust throughout. Appointment wait times at IVFMD are ridiculous. Be prepared for extended wait times to be seen. I've waited over 1 hour to be called once and I was on time for my appointment. The clinic prematurely demands payment for services. I didn't even have my medications or obtained approval from Progny to start treatment. Yet they requested payment for Zymot. I also had ultrasound and lab tests, I believed that could've been billed through Progny. When I questioned check out about it they said Progny only covers treatment and the services provided were not treatment. I later found out through Progny that the services would've been covered if they utilized the appropriate billing codes. Long story short, my primary health insurance covered the diagnostic testing I paid for. The clinic processed a refund that took 3 months for me to receive via check. If you paid with a debit/credit card or cash, they will not refund you via the same payment method you provided. On a good note, the practice does offer, monthly IVF raffles to help those in need which is a great thing. They are great at communicating with patients promptly. They can call you if you request with no problem. The IVF Coordinator I was assigned was great. In conclusion, if you're looking for a practice where you do not feel like you're just another number in a factory, want more personalized services, a clean facility, the best treatment plan based on your circumstances and advance onsite laboratory services; IVFMD may not be for you. read more

I switched to them from IVF, Florida. I find their doctors are more outside of the box thinker and will try different things. IVF FLORIDA is one size fits all approach. Love Dr. Woods compassionate and dedicated. read more

This practice has completely lost my trust. I've now received three different balances for the same services: first, I was told I owed $150, which I paid. Then the balance mysteriously changed to $130, followed by a collections notice for $430--and now, most recently, another collector claims I owe $362. They can't seem to make up their mind. I've requested an itemized bill multiple times, and every single request has been ignored. This lack of transparency and accountability is inexcusable--especially when dealing with something as personal and emotionally charged as fertility treatment. As a healthcare provider myself, I'm appalled. I would never treat my patients this way. It's a slap in the face to be misled, overbilled, and then ignored while navigating an already heartbreaking journey. Patients deserve better. Get your billing in order. And start treating people like human beings, not dollar signs. read more

They only care about the money. They gave us total wrong advice and made us do procedure where success was impossible. Very disappointed since there communication is just horrible. They pushed me to sign something, I researched afterwards and felt that information was withheld from me. We did an IUI with 70k sperm count. Success very unlikely below 5 Mio. No one helped us understand this... they truly don't care about their patients. read more

The highlight of IVFMD are the quality of the doctors. The worst part about IVFMD (and why I would not work with them again or advise others to)- are the medical staff - because if you don't have good quality staff, it does impact your fertility chances. You can have the best doctor in the world but you're only seeing them every few weeks or months. Your actual medical processes are often done by the nurses and staff. In particular, I would actively avoid any procedures at their Cooper City office, which is run like a factory by sub-par professionals. I did 2+ procedures there and each time was dismayed by hte callousness of the nurses, the amount of people waiting in the waiting room to be processed, and how many they try to get done in a single day. On the billing side, they've sent lab work in to local labs that explicitly are not covered by my insurance- it's now been 6+ months and there has been no attempt to resolve. Just overall lack of competence across the board that does not speak well to their fertility work. read more

They only care about the money not the patients . They sent me wife to the ER twice due to there standard protocol and not paying attention to the patients needs . The Dr over stimulated my 27y/o wife in perfect health (the problem being me with severe male factor ) as if she had the issues. This caused her to develop poor egg quality which lead to an ovary torsion and eventually cause us to suffer an ectopic pregnancy. And now the Dr only calls to see when we want to try again not caring how my wife is doing as we are still dealing with the ectopic pregnancy. First appointment was very educational. Second appointment went my wife got blood work and other tests done. Third appointment I went. So after all this which took about a month they made a follow up appointment. Then they call and say we don't have enough done things done for follow up. Supposedly my wife needs more blood work done and I need blood work done. Any reason my wife didn't get her blood work done the day she was there ? Any reason I didn't get blood work done the day I was there ? What a waste of time read more

The rudest people ever ! Money hungry all they care about is money !! This is a Bussines for them And they do not care In fact when I called over the phone I spoke to the worse person ever rude doesn't let you speak and speaks over you. You won't even hear what you saying . How can anyone hire anyone with this character? I am in the medical fields for years and I have never had to deal with anyone in the field that is so rude and disrespectful! Paying for the IUI or whatever needed is not a problems. In fact I explained to her that clearly But still she won't change her attitude. She kept saying u have to pay 425 $ and another 35$. Ok fine. But why ? She is clueless and stupid ! If you want a person with a PHD to just pay numbers of money without professionally explain whey in details then you dreaming. They hire a lady that take appointment that basically didn't have High school degree clearly ! The absolute worse ! I just wanted to see DR Ellen Wood to see if she is someone that a good fit for us. I switched to Dr.Woods after being ran through the mill with another IVF place - who sucked the life and money out of us. During our free (2nd opinion) consultation with Dr.Woods- she looked over our medical records, and gave us a simple solution. Everyone in the office staff was so nice ! Making an appointment was SO EASY! Everyone is happy and smiling and truly sensitive to fertility! Dr.Woods is so nice and caring and took TIME to talk to us ! Within that appointment and 1 follow up ultrasound appointment- we did a HCG trigger and the next day a IUI and confirmed 10 days later we were PREGNANT! Currently 11 weeks and SO HAPPY WE SWITCHED !!!! read more

Horrible scheduling, been waiting 30 minutes past my appointment time, no respect for patients' time. Unacceptable!

First and possibly last. First time meeting with a fertility doctor/ reproductive endocrinologist. Meet with the doctor. She shows no care. She has a coldness about her, but I'm not sure. The office staff treat patients like fast food for real. Billing charge me and my spouse as separate patients for our consultation appointment. Thief...we feel robbed. Business with no ethics. This office is about "squeezing" every penny (money) from you to tell you to wait and do more office visits or try naturally for a few months. Crooked practice. Requested for my medical records multiple times (over 5 different times) and that was an issue. IvfMd to me is unempathic medical practice. Overall not comfortable with this doctor and her personal opinions. Just because she's a physician don't make her GOD. read more

Please be very careful with this place and this Doctor. Unfortunately these guys seem to have a monopoly on South Florida IVF clinics. I write this review for anyone who has low AMH and true fertility issues. I really wanted to like Dr. Gerkowicz based on all her good reviews, but unfortunately we had a terrible experience with her and this practice. At 39, and with only a few chances to try, this doctor, put me through two rounds of botched IVF cycles with her incompetent staff and canceled my second round of IVF out of pettiness (no, seriously) with no explanation. I had successfully created the most follicles, possible for myself. I trusted her in good faith, that she had a reason. But on our follow up appointment (I took off work for our call) scheduled for a week after my IUI failure, she was a no show. When I reached out to the office, someone else let me know that she had dismissed me as a patient. My partner and I believed she did this because she and her staff had screwed up already twice with my cycles, in the form of incorrect doses, medication mishaps and general communication errors. For example, my first cycle they messed up my dosing and I ovulated early, to salvage the fact that my follicle had already disappeared, the Dr. pushed me into an IUI, knowing there was no real chance of this working. Unfortunately her nice act worked on us and we let her take our money - it was a failed IUI - no surprise. She scammed us twice during our time with her for about 12K in IVF procedures never rendered. Any decent human being would never have done what she did. Furthermore, any truly nice person, would explain to their patient why they canceled their cycle and not ghost a client the way a teenager would a date. Please save yourself the pain, the niceness is an act. This women has the maturity of a 15 year old, and I wish her on no one, especially if you are older and are already struggling with fertility issues. You owe it to yourself to find someone who has an inkling of what you are going through and some empathy. After she cut us loose, my husband and I felt relieved to no longer be strung along by her and her incompetent staff. read more

Don't waste your time at this place!! You will pay over &20,000 and only see Dr Ellen Wood 2 times each time will be like 15 Mins the most. The office staff overwhelmed and over booked. They always will call you after paying that you still have a bill and the explanation is that they don't think you paid last time when they wouldn't let you leave unless you pay. One time the staff left me in exam room for an hour waiting after 2 x opening the door to look for someone passing come to find out office was closing up and they forgot me in the room! Go ahead and take your chances maybe your luck is different than mine but I don't recommend this place read more

Dr Ellen Wood is an excellent physician. I switched to IVFMD from another one of the big fertility practices in South Florida. As soon as we sat down for the first consultation I knew this experience would be different. She does talk fast but it's only because she has so much knowledge to share! All of the questions we asked she answered and explained with the latest research studies. One of the major topics I asked about was supplementation. Other Doctors have discouraged supplementation and Dr. wood incorporates it in your treatment. This discussion solidified that we made the right decision to select Dr. Wood as our physician/surgeon. Before considering fertility treatment she insisted I have surgery to remove a polyp and small fibroid and referred both my husband and me to Marta Montenegro the in house fertility nutritionist (reviewed separately South Miami location ). After a successful surgery, she told us to continue seeing the nutritionist for three more months and we can try an IUI before exploring IVF. This was a little upsetting because the emphasis in fertility is on age--the earlier the better. Dr. Wood is the professional, we completely trusted her even though it seemed as if I could feel the few eggs I had left aging. Two more months of working with Marta and fine tuning levels of things I didn't realize could be measured we conceived naturally. I understand that this will not be everyone's story and we were extremely fortunate to be able to conceive our baby this way. About the office: Seeking assistance with fertility is very challenging because of the emotions and societal pressures. In some ways you have to separate from that and approach having a child like it's a full-time job. It's expensive and time consuming. Because of the price I feel like most people expect concierge style treatment and that's definitely not how this works. If you have insurance, call them first and understand what fertility test they cover. Some test are a part of general screenings and many are not. There were some room fees and materials fees that were not covered and add up pretty quickly even with insurance. The office is always busy. You may feel like just a number at times. I do wish that I was friendlier with fellow patients because it could have helped the time go faster. Be realistic about your scheduling-- in a way you are working around their schedule not yours. At my previous IVF clinic, you would see your selected doctor but for diagnostic tests you could see whoever is available. With IVFMD, Dr. Wood performed all of my exams and surgery and that worked well for me. Keep in mind that there is a significant amount of blood work required that is time sensitive--some test have to be done in the morning and some in the afternoon. I found for the most part the nurses and the associates at the front desk were friendly. When I was a patient they did not have a portal so I had to wait for phone calls but I believe they were working on setting up a new portal soon. I have to acknowledge that my review may have been different if I had not conceived my daughter. During fertility treatment, you will either receive the best or worst news of your life. Be mindful of that when you are waiting it could be because someone is receiving horrible news and needs some time to process or grieve. Or that someone has received great news and wants to relish the moment after a hard fought battle. Remember that you are not alone. If you were scheduling would be a lot easier ;). Regardless of the outcome you are brave for even thinking about going through treatment and will definitely come out stronger. P.S. If your fertility clinic does NOT INSIST ON LOOKING AT BOTH YOU AND YOUR PARTNER'S blood work (inflammatory markers, MTHFR mutation, etc.) and prep you with a nutritionist and supplements before major fertility treatments RUN. read more

In August 2021 my husband and I had an appt. with the Naples office. Made this appt. month and a half prior, filled out paperwork, Appt. was confirmed day before the whole nine. When we got there my husband who took off from work, myself and my 2 yr. old after waiting for a good 10 minutes before we were greeted, we were told that my 2 yr. old was not allowed to be with us in our appt. due to Covid. NEVER in our conversation with the times I spoke with the office did they say anything about COVID policies and that no children were not allowed. This was our first time hearing about no children in their office. After several attempts with giving us an opportunity to let us go through the appt. and the fact that we were not going to leave our child alone... we now have an altercation with three insensitive, uncaring and completely useless women telling us that they adamantly told us about their COVID policy and children. If that were to be the case we would've taken proper measures to get a babysitter.  Moments after with this nonsense, one woman said they would retrieve the recorded conversation on what was said on the phone call and get back to us. We never heard a word back until 2 weeks later that we received a "discontinue of care" letter" from the South Miami office Oscar Machado (Chief Operating Officer) stating the displeasure of the whole experience within the 20 minutes of our first and only encounter. Someone in his position could have called us as well to get the full story since he was not present.   instead of offering an apology of their NON compassionate ways and their lack of miscommunication from their staff they shut us off completely with a cowardly letter. This was so distasteful and disheartening to us because of the emotional nature of our reason of going in the first place. We were looking forward to our appt. and having hopes. Never have we experienced and been treated so cruel by a place that is suppose to care and have bedside manners. We as a couple are very much hurt and displeased by the whole experience. read more

If you're in the market for the fast-food equivalent to fertility clinics, this is the place for you. Beware, once they have your money, the doctors and staff will abandon you. They do not return phone calls timely or at all. The nurses cannot get on the same page and each one tells a different story, and sadly, you have to deal with all of them as opposed to having one care coordinator who is familiar with your case, which means having to constantly explain and re-explain your situation each time something comes up. They are also terribly rude and uncaring. Appointment times are meaningless and they will have you wait an hour for a simple blood test with no apologies and just a "we are very busy" explanation. The staff is much more concerned with the fact that the administration demands they wear a certain color of scrubs every day of the week than they are about the actual individual patient. The doctor could be the best doctor in the world and it wouldn't matter because you rarely get to see him. He will promise you the world and then disappear when times get tough. If you are struggling with infertility, I suggest you look elsewhere. And further, should you actually use this office and you are fortunate enough to get pregnant, I urge you to seek the services of an OB immediately and not continue your care with them for the first ten weeks. They are ill-equipped to handle pregnancy and pregnancy-related issues. read more

Dr Gleman and his staff became like family to us. I had been to other large IVF centers and hated the cattle herd experience and Dr. Gelman's office was the complete opposite. It had the backing of IVFMD's technology and financing with the small boutique experience of a private practice. They were personal, caring, supportive and went above and beyond to make our dreams of having a child a reality. I have since sent 3 friends his way and he has helped them have a baby. He helped us in solving our infertility as well as recurrent pregnancy loss issues (immune testing and therapy). He was patient and never made me feel rushed or like I was asking something silly. Yvonne and Jennifer, the IVF coordinators, were so thorough and responsive. I am forever grateful to Dr G and his team for making me a mom. read more

Choosing an RE is an important decision. Choosing this one was not a good one. This office rarely picks up the phone and will not return calls. I left a voicemail with the financial dept. after receiving an unexpected bill from a 3rd party. No call was returned. I waited days and tried again. No call was returned. After becoming pregnant I called to ask about taking a supplement my doctor had previously prescribed. I left a voicemail on the doctor/nurse line. The call was never returned. The day of my miscarriage I called early during open business hours and chose option for " Doctor on call". There was no doctor on call, but the man who answered the phone said he would page my doctor. That was at 8 am. After being at the ER for 4 hours, Dr. Gelman or his nurse still had not returned my call. I called again. Long story short- I have never received any return phone calls from this office. I do not know how I will get my records sent to my OB GYN because they have not responded to that request either (as compared to my OB GYN's office sending my records to them- that happened within 24 hours and they're a busy office too). (And this review is coming from a quiet person- not someone who calls too much or someone who would keep a doctor or nurse on the phone over a minute) Bottom line- People invest a lot of money and heart into the procedures carried out at an RE. I understand they are busy, but I expect at the very minimum a call-back. After all, I'm paying for their services. read more
