i had had all 4 wisdom teeth removed at a dentist out of state. when i returned to spokane i was…read morestill in extreme pain, but it was a saturday. panicking, i found Summit and gave them a call. it was 10pm on a saturday night, i was expecting to have to leave a message... but Dr. Lopez called me back on his personal cell (at 10pm on a saturday!!) and had me come in the next day. i had two infected dry sockets and Dr. Lopez fixed me up, gave me proper medication and thorough instructions that i had not received at the other dentist. i have pretty extreme dental anxiety, but he explained everything to me and even played my favorite music to help calm me. to go out of his way to help me and open the office on his days off, for someone who isn't even a patient of his, is something i've never seen before. im so grateful i found Summit! highly recommend!!

They've kindly offered many options for anxiety but they have various levels of oral medications (which I prefer). My hygienist, Lupe, has been instrumental in my ability to receive dental care. She had my teeth in excellent shape so quickly. She's been so responsive to my problems with metabolizing all of the numbing agents. Dr. Lopez performed a root canal and crown placement. I was nervous that like many before, he would tell me I wasn't feeling pain, but just pressure, and keep on working. I finally had dental care without horrible pain! I have a beautiful functional crown in my mouth as I type this. The shape was excellent and the bite. My family member had the very same work on the very same tooth the day before me but at a different provider. She's still very sore. She has pain, swelling and is having to face her severe anxiety again to get the crown seated in two weeks. Within hours I was able to eat. I awoke the next day with very minimal discomfort which was easily remedied. Im eating hard crunchy foods a day later. We paid the same market price for our work but my experience has been so positive comparatively. I feel like they've really worked with my needs when possible to get my smile healthy. Scheduling is always very quick and easy. They let me turn up my music and respond very well to needs during visits. I recommend this dentist in general but especially to those who want to feel like more than a number when receiving this type of care.

Go somewhere else My sister is traumatized. She went in for a filling, tooth removal and wisdom tooth removal. He slipped with his instrument on the tooth removal and stabbed her tongue. She asked him to stop. He got the tooth out and asked her if she wanted him to remove her wisdom tooth. She said no. He asked why and she said because he hurt her. He and his assistant said she felt pressure and got scared. I'M SORRY, but if you feel pain, the numbing was done improperly. He went for the tooth anyway. He got mad at her and bullied her by saying he was only getting 37 dollars to pull her tooth and it was her fault she was in this situation. When she wanted him to stop she grabbed his arm and pushed it away saying she wanted him to stop. He held her down, grabbed her face and pried open her mouth. She physically grabbed his arm and moved it out of the way. When a patient wants you to stop. YOU STOP! He forced himself in and removed it anyway. STOP MEANS STOP. NO MEANS NO. He did not prescribe her anything either!

Hillyard got me in for a first exam/routine cleaning 2 weeks after I initially called--it would have been sooner then that even, but I had scheduling conflicts. The parking lot was very spacious. The building was inviting. In reception, they had a gas fireplace and the waiting area in back was really cute with a fish tank. Though I arrived incredibly early for my appointment, the staff processed my paper-work quickly and did my (only 2!) mandatory x-rays right away. The dentist even did my exam before my cleaning since the hygienist was still working on the patient actually scheduled for that time. He had a good manner, was thorough, did not give me "the lecture," or try to push services or products on me. The hygienist was awesome at her job! I especially liked how she did not talk AT me, with hands in my mouth the whole time. She would briefly do her work while talking, then pause, taking her hands out of my mouth so I could have short breaks and take an equal part in the conversation. Also, she was detailed, yet gentle in my mouth, and she did not lecture me about problem areas. Finally, like any good dentist office, they recommended that I come back for my 6 month cleaning, but didn't pressure me to schedule right then and there. They were even nice enough to offer to call me if they run another price special. Overall, it's everything I want in a dentist office: Affordable price, friendly staff, attentive care, and a bonus of cute decor/fish.
