My loved one has been at this place for nearly a year. During that time I have been amazed at how poor practices are allowed to continue without being addressed. Most of these issues would be simple enough to fix if someone in management from the headquarters level down to the actual facility level would just follow through. Lots of excuses and lots of apologizing but that doesn't fix problems. Some of the CNAs are very caring but most are just collecting a check. There is no real 24/7 management so the staff becomes even more lax when management is not around. There are no clear responsibilities for the CNA's. They trade off jobs amongst themselves instead of dividing patients up so that they are responsible for specific patient care. This leads to lots of finger pointing when something goes wrong and it is hard to determine who dropped the ball. The sad thing is that the company that owns Ivy Ridge (Sabre Health) operates about 40 of these places in VA and the Carolinas. It's also sad that senior care in these states is allowed to be so bad. For instance, VA does not even have mandatory patient/staff ratios so I also blame the VA legislature but I guess that shouldn't surprise anyone that the gerrymandered popularity contest yields poor governance. read more
