They abruptly used a dremal tool to file my nails and then they had me soak half the length of my fingers in acetone for 15 minutes- then I asked how much longer to soak and she said until the gel polish is off- left at that point. 2 weeks later and, my nails and fingertips are still a mess and they look as if I have been chewing on them. read more

Brought my mom in for mother daughter spa day yesterday and felt rushed, my mom's pedicure did not come out good at all as the nail tech forgot to cutback and remove the cuticles on both feet. I guess when there is not much to compete with, the nail spas don't worry too much about customer service. My mom and I were rushed for almost our entires pedicure, saying "we have other customers". Especially since I didn't like the color once it was applied to my nail, she rushed to remove it and cut me twice in the process! Outside of that, this place was not very sanitary. I called ahead (Wednesday afternoon) to see if they had availability for a walk-in gel manicure for myself and my mother and they said come on in. The first time I went, I was convinced to try the new "dip"nails. Don't do it. First of all, it's expensive. It only lasts a couple weeks for over $40 and it can't be filled. Also the nail tech cut my finger by filing too har and didn't even notice I was bleeding. Nonetheless, I went back after a couple weeks to have the "dip" removed and get a regular gel manicure. (It was our fault for expecting to get an appointment on a Friday afternoon, but) our pleasant experience more than made up for not being seen on Friday. The service was prompt and courteous. I feel like I need to write a review to make up for the bad comments regarding the professionalism of Christina written above. I have gone to Ivy's since 2007 when she opened the shop and I have never went anywhere else since I first visited the shop. The shop is clean and the staff are professional. They always put the needs of the customer first and I always walked out of the shop feeling satisfied. I have been going to Christina consistently since she came to work at Ivy's. She maintains a professional attitude and always produces quality work. She makes sure my needs are met and that I am comfortable with the services I am receiving. She takes the time to do my pedicure and makes sure that all my ingrown nails are taken care of during my time in the chair. I feel like I am able to talk to her about real life events and we share many of the same interests. She has always been friendly and courteous. I have to say D.S. decided to mention that all of the shop staff speak good English. I am not sure why she felt the need to mention that, but it does not pertain to the quality and professionalism of the staff. People are people no matter who language they speak or where they are from. It sounds like D.S. has the "Santa Fe attitude" that I see so much when I am in the shop. If you expect people to treat you with respect when you treat them like garbage then it is time for you to find another place to get your nails done. And just because you pay them $25-$35 for your service does not entitle you to be a jerk. read more

This place is not for the faint of heart. I had seen other yelpers talking about how inappropriate the technicians were and I went anyway as it was the closest place on my road trip route. I gave the place two stars in lieu of one because at least they got polish on my nails (a very, very thin paint job) and the older technicians (the parents? The owners?) were very kind. They only get two stars because of the really disrespectful customer service. I slammed my foot in the car door on the way out and messed up two nails. After i got back in the chair, the girl who fixed my nails snapped at me and told me to "calm down" when I pretty calmly pointed out that two nails got dinged. I told her that I had seen on yelp that they were sassy in this salon and she agreed, "Yep! We're just a bunch of young women." In all, people who disrespect other people are usually disrespected themselves, so I was able to let it go and find some empathy for her. But, I repeat, this place is not for the faint of heart. I have been to Ivy's a few times. I like to go there because they are right by my work. I get the gels when I go on vacation, I got the gel mani and pedi, four days later they were chipping. My nails kept getting snagged in my hair and everywhere, so I went back to see if they could fix where it came off and they were so rude to me like I was bothering them, told me to hurry up and find what color it was. I will never go back there again or recommend them to anyone!! No one should be treated like that. read more

Everyone was very friendly and my pedicure turned out pretty. I am giving this only one star (and will never return) because of these things: 1. The gentleman did my gel nails, which started turning bad on the edges overnight and I had to go back the next morning. He fixed them free and told me it was because he hadn't gotten the area right. Then later that afternoon, in the sunlight, I realized he hadn't fixed it at all. I would have gone back yet again, but I had to put on a suit and get on an airplane for Boston. (That's why I had my nails done in the first place.). 2. The experience of a pedicure should be relaxing with the massage, etc. I got maybe 1 minute of it. 3. When I asked the gentleman if he saw the nail area that was troubling me, he did not respond. I asked again, very politely - no response. I asked again, "Do you see?" Then he impatiently nodded and said nothing. 4. End of the next day, one thumb was peeling off. End of day after that one finger was peeling off. Those of you who are rating this well, did you get one of the ladies and not the gentleman? He did tell me very nicely to come back and he would fix it if I had any problems. Too late, sir. Great place! I went in for a full set but landed getting my nails dipped with this new nail product that is amazing. Ivy did an amazing job explained the product to me and gave me a pedicure as well. My 7 year old daughter got a manicure and pedicure as well and they were very patient with her even when she messed up two nails. read more

I have tried 2-3 different nails spa in Santa Fe and I thought of giving this place a try for a change. I made a good choice. As you can see from other people's reviews as well, I liked Paige's work. She worked on my nails diligently - both manicure and pedicure and I liked the fact that it was not done hastily, but more like an art or treating them as your own nails. I should mention that I had a micro-injury when she was cutting my cuticles during manicure , and a little blood came out. This has happened in other salons too, but they didn't seem to care and continued polishing my nails anyways. But here Paige quickly put a disinfectant/antiseptic liquid on the injured area and was careful about it. Overall a clean and good salon but not the very best. Good luck. read more

This used to be my favorite and only salon to go to but over the past few years the customer service has slowly declined. They don't honor appointments and on a few occasions I have had to wait 30-45 min past my appointment time to be seen. I can see waiting about 10 min but appointments are made because we have other places to be. Not only that, when I'm finally seen the job is rushed and not done like the quality I had experienced before. I've had to go back a couple times to get my nails redone... once because the gel peeled off within two days! I have been a loyal and regular customer for quite a few years but I am no longer satisfied and cannot justify paying their prices for the quality I get anymore. I will never go back. The girls there were so inappropriate. I understand talking and joking with your coworkers but straight up dropping f bombs and other foul language is very unprofessional and makes for an uncomfortable environment for the clients. Pricey , very pricey. Appointments are not written down. You have to remind them when you walk in. Family run with family employees. Girls can chatter but all in fun. Clean, no tv only music. Good mani pedi's but they try to talk you into more expensive treatments. I was quoted $53 for a hot gel with tips for cash and $58 for using a credit card. Nails last two weeks , pedi 3 weeks. I arrived for my 230 appointment and waited in the chair for over an hour before Carlos finished with his client next to me. He worked on her the whole time I sat there and when it was my turn he used the Dremel on my feet so fast and hard that it really hurt, then he stopped and went outside to smoke. When he came back in he painted my nails so fast it was very uneven. Afterwards he asked me if I liked it and I told him it was uneven to which he said that's your skin making it uneven and walked away, I could have painted my nails at home better by the way. As I sat there I was more and more unhappy. One of the other girls came over and I told her i wasn't happy, she Completely wiped it off and redid the whole thing. She did a very good job and that helped make the experience better. I would recommend if they are that busy that they not make so called "appointments", and then do half the work on these clients vs their regular ones. It was clear that this was the case here. I have gone to many places and this was by far the absolute worst. After a client states they aren't happy you should try to make it better not walk away. My mom and I used to go to Ivy's all the time. We stopped going because Nini was very rude stating that I needed to be on time for my appointment one day, when on previous other times I had an appointment and she would make me wait for an hour or more. I also believe they try to con clients into getting the dip nails saying that it is better for the nails when in reality it is just the same as acrylic nails and costs much more. When I first took my mother their Carlos insisted that my mom get the dip nails. He told her that it was better than acrylic nails. When she had the dip removed at another salon her nails were cracked and broken and were not healthy at all.
