The young lady working the counter was very nice and polite and did a great job and the space is attractive, but the chapstick was $51. I realize it's downtown Santa Fe but that's psychotic. My family and I were visiting Santa Fe last week and while on a walk with my daughter, We came across Cos Bar. My middle schooler is really into makeup but just getting familiar with the basics. She wanted to go in and ask for a makeover so we did. The nice woman who did my daughters makeup was so friendly and talented that I have to show off her work. After my first trip, I fell in love with this store. CosBar carries all my favorite fragrances and has incredible staff. Jen is fantastic at her job. Her experience in customer service and empathy shows in everything she does. Her actions and words are solution oriented and energizing and made me feel invigorated about making purchases, regardless of the price tag. Was helped online the day before, and when I arrived, greeted so friendly by Julia, store assistant. She knows her products inside out, 15+ years experience with other products, has stepped up to the top products in Cos Bar, and helped me profusely. HOLY COW! The "manager" Jennifer Sandoval is BEYOND horrible. How she EVER became a manager is beyond my comprehension. A few months ago I went in with a friend and she was so very rude, she walked out without buying anything. Having had excellent service there before, we went back hoping she would not be there but.....she was and even topped her incredible rudeness of our first encounter with her. When we were complementing another employee and thanking her for not being as rude as Jennifer Sandoval, she, Jennifer decided to start yelling at us from across the store telling us that we were being rude to her now. I guess she thinks everything is about her and had to make a scene. Again proving my point that she is RUDE!!!!!!!!! I sure hope the owner will read this review and remove her from the store. The fact that leadership took the time to address the issue speaks volumes about the integrity of this company. Old review: I tried to go in briefly this Tuesday shortly before 5pm, because I knew exactly what I wanted to buy. The door was already locked. The employee came to the door to let out a customer saying they were already closed. When I asked what time they closed she said 5pm but she was the only person there and couldn't help more than one person, or she'd be there late. I stopped by on a Saturday, fully prepared to drop some $ on moisturizer and makeup. However, I was ignored from the moment I walked in (maybe they thought I wasn't going to spend any $ because of the casual way I was dressed?), and when I finally got a salesperson to talk to me, she didn't even make an effort to help me find what I was looking for. She handed me a pamphlet about some new skincare line they just got in and told me to look it over, then went off to help someone else. When she finally came back, I asked her about one of the products and she told me "Oh, we don't carry all their products." So why did you tell me to look over their catalog? To keep me busy? I explained I needed a moisturizer for sensitive skin, not an unusual request, and she told me she couldn't recommend anything because I "should know what my skin reacts to" and that I should "go back to my previous moisturizer". GIVE ME SOMETHING THAT IS GENTLE. This shouldn't be difficult for a beauty professional. I already told you I wanted a change. Alas, she also couldn't help me find a lip gloss, most likely because she wouldn't spend more than 5 seconds with me in between going off to help numerous people who came in after me. After 30 minutes of this nonsense, I walked out. I guess they were right after all, because I didn't spend any money. Instead, I'm headed to Sephora, where they always treat me right. read more

Highly recommend! I came to Santa Fe for vacation and forgot my entire makeup bag! When I showed up at Cos Bar, Jennifer was sooooo helpful in recreating my makeup kit! She never tried to upsell me, and she even threw in some free samples like makeup remover and moisturizer to put icing on the cake! I am useless with makeup, and a few hours before a friend's wedding (in September) I realized I didn't want to look horrible. I walked in and said, "I need to look pretty, help!" (seriously, I think that was exactly what I said) and they laughed and said to sit down and they'd take care of me. I said I wanted to look low-maintenance but to even up my not-so-great skin. To do your makeup, they either charge $100, or ask that you buy 3 products. I opted for the latter. Eloisa (I think that was her name - at least that is the name on the card she gave me) deftly made my face look decent, explained everything she was doing, and made me look marvelous. The products I ended up getting have been fantastic, and she even gave me small samples of some other things she used to see if I wanted to get them at a later date. read more

The customer service at Cos Bar of Santa Fe is outstanding. In July, I purchased an outfit for the opera and needed a lipstick to go with my new look. When the staff heard that I was heading to the opera, they did my eye make-up for free. It was gorgeous! When I purchased the lipstick and a few other products, they included a sample perfume vial. I fell in love with the scent but could not figure out what the fragrance was. In September, I called Cos Bar and spoke with Audry. She asked me to send the empty perfume vial back to her via mail because I live 4 hours away. A few days later, I received a voice message from Audry informing me that the scent was a signature fragrance from Tom Ford. (Cos Bar of Santa Fe is the only carrier of Tom Ford's fragrance collection in New Mexico.) Audry even called back a second time to ensure I received her voice message. My husband then purchased my new favorite fragrance from Cos Bar for my birthday in October. Thank you Audry, and Cos Bar of Santa Fe for your exceptional customer service! My sister, mom and I had an amazing experience here. I am make-up illiterate and my sister and mom, while more experienced then me, wanted suggestions for their skin tone and tips on how to apply the make-up. We made an appointment with Audrey and she was wonderful. She started by selecting a wide range of make-up products that would go well with my complexion. She choose a green eyeliner which was very unique but looked really good. I typically go with black eyeliner and have realized how much better green is. After selecting all the products, Audrey went through and gave me a tutorial for how to put everything on for both a day at the office and a night out. She was incredibly patient and answered all of our questions. After going through everything for me, she helped my sister select eyeliner colors for her and gave her some tips as well. Overall, this was the best experience any of us have had with a makeup expert. Audrey was very knowledgeable and put a lot of thought into what would look good on us. The store is adorable and since it is a smaller boutique type chain, you get a lot more individual attention then if you are at a larger chain. We would definitely recommend this store overall and Audrey if you are looking for a lesson! read more

I moved here recently and was excited to see a store that carries high end skin care as there is not a lot here for that. The sales people are nice enough to your face - as long as your buying and of course the products are really expensive. I did receive a free sample of an product. I liked it enough to buy another product from the same line (over $100), but did not ask for a sample. The next time I came in, I asked about another product from the same line, but was told I would have to buy something in order to get a sample. WTF?! What is this, Macy's?! Do these people think I run some scam in the Southwest where I travel all over getting free samples and put them all together to make a full- size? get over yourselves. I stopped into this amazing store when I was visiting Santa Fe last week. This cosmetics store is awesome and has something for every woman. I was promptly greeted by one of their friendly staff members, Becca Toups, and she spent a great deal of time assisting me and answering all my questions. I was introduced to an airbrush product by Temptu that I am so excited about. I purchased the foundation cartridge and hair touch up cartridge with the airbrush tool. Becca showed me how to use the tool and after she helped apply the make up my face looked flawless. I can't wait to use it on my own. My friends that were with me loved the store and found the staff to be incredibly attentive and friendly. The store carries all reputable and popular brands. It's a great place to browse and shop. I received a call about having a treatment by a Natura Bisse representative and called to book - my second time as I like the products. This time they required a $100 payment that would be put toward the products, forcing me to spend more than I might want to. A bad "come-on" in my opinion and classless.. I bought an eye pencil here that turned out to be the wrong color... I brought it back to exchange it as well as buy another pencil for a gift at 5:40, after rushing across town to get there before they closed at 6:00, and some lady was asking the clerk for free samples for 20 minutes. When they finally got around to waiting on me, it was because the owner stopped whatever she was doing at the cash register at 6:00 and came over to tell me they were closing. I explained, and she didn't apologize, offer to help me, nothing -- they were closing. I pay full price for cosmetics to get the nice service that should go with that shopping experience. I won't return to Cos Bar unless I have to; I'd rather drive to Dillon's at the mall or even Sephora in Montrose. read more
