It's great to have an alternative Jamaican restaurant in the area. I ordered via UberEats. The jerk chicken was just ok and not the best I've had before in that it lacked the Smokey flavor I'm used to. It also wasn't very spicy. The meat patty was much better and very flavorful with a light crust. These tasted just like the ones I've had in Jamaica! I'll try them again to taste some of the other offerings read more

First time trying, ordered through DoorDash so I can't speak on the service but the food is delicious and flavorful, was a tad bit disappointed because I was expecting the Jamaican spice/heat and it was nonexistent. But I will definitely be ordering again; I gotta try the brown stew chicken. read more

WOW! I picked up a surprise bag from the app Too Good To Go and I can't believe how good the food is here. I got some sort of chicken and rice plate and it was HUGE! So much flavor in each bite. A few more bones than I'd like to deal with but I'll be damned if it ain't delicious. Will have to come back, either on TGTG or on their own. read more

I work late so every time I've come before they've been closed. I happened to be in the area on a Saturday afternoon and figured it was a good opportunity. I only got the meat pies and some plantains but these are legit the best Caribbean meat pies I've ever had. The pastry is flaky, buttery, and soft, and the meat inside is so delicious. It's spiced and seasoned perfectly. Dare I say the chicken was the better of the two, and I'm usually a beef gal! Curry chicken that's not too spicy to taste? Yes. Sign me up. I'll be back for more next time I'm feeling like Caribbean food! read more

Towards the end of business, the food truck park was still buzzing, mostly for the food truck serving crepes and people lining up for the Dubai chocolate strawberries. This Caribbean food truck though still emitting the irresistible smell of delicious food. I was in the mood for some ox tails. Jamaican jerk chicken and fried plantains. The place already ran out of some items on the menu, like their ox tails, but not their chicken and beans and rice. Within 10 minutes, I received my order and the guys inside were so nice! The portion was huge and the chicken was packed with flavors! Definitely I will recommend this place and come back to try out more dishes. read more

Overpriced for what you get. Driest brown stew i've ever had & only 4 oxtail bones for $30. The sides were decent but pretty sure the beef patty is from a frozen brand. Not worth the $60 read more

I love a happy accident! We turned down Hamilton today only to get back to 183 and circle around in our efforts to find lunch nearby. We decided the small food truck park was the perfect fit for variety and a really beautiful day. We made our way only part of the way around when we smelled offerings from this truck. With zero hesitation, we looked at the menu then each other and knew our choice was made. I got curry shrimp with sides of red beans/ rice and plantains. It was absolutely fantastic. My friend got the rasta pasta and a beef pastry item I believe called Jamaican Patty. She raved over her items as well! Besides the wonderful food, the beautiful and kind man behind it all is a joy. I cannot wait to go back and bring my grandkids soon and keep going until we have tried it all. read more

kinda pricey that's why I didn't write 5 stars, but overall fantastic food! got the jerk chicken with plantain and rice & peas. And the oxtail with the same sides. Both were fantastic meat so juicy it fell off the bones. Spice level isn't too high, came at 1 1pm on a wednesday and got the food in less than 10 min. I will be coming back to get my jamaican food craving filled again. Thank you read more

This gem is tucked away off of 290 in Manor. If you live in Manor or are passing through, do not miss this food truck. Iwayne's food is made to order so everything is fresh. And considering the freshness of the food, the service is very quick. We were on the way to Houston and stopped by here for a quick bite. It's nestled in a food truck lot so we waited in the car while our order was being prepared. The beef patty was flaky and tasty. The Rasta pasta was a very generous size and it was perfectly seasoned with the perfect kick. I am a big fan. Once again, don't miss this place! read more

I was on a road trip and stopped by, I was super excited when I saw there was a Jamaican food truck nearby. I ordered the jerk chicken, curry chicken, and goat and all were amazing. The meat was nice and flavorful and would literally just would fall off the bone. The owner was very hospitable and explained the menu nicely. I would 10/10 recommend going here! read more

I won't lie to you guys. I live right by this place so I've tried it a couple times now. But the first dish I've tried I can't seem to get away from. it is just so darn good. I either forget how good it is or he gets better at making it every time. Definitely recommend trying this if you like a little spice or zest as that's what Jamaican food tends to have. Wow! Wow! Wow! I am so excited that this restaurant exists. The festivals were amazing; warm, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was the perfect texture. Also this restaurant had the best beef patties I have tasted in Austin. The pastry was flaky and the filling was so flavorful. We also got the jerk chicken which was flavorful. I didn't really like the bbq sauce but it was still okay. Their sides were good. Mac and cheese was decent and the cabbage was excellent! We will definitely be ordering from this place again! Iwayne catered food for my mom's 80th birthday and the food was an instant success. The guest was from Texas, New York and Barbados, the compliments were coming all night. Iwayne food is authentic Caribbean Jamaican food and the owner is courteous, polite, humble and professional to everyone he meets. I cannot explain how amazing these oxtails were. It was hard to choose between this and the curry goat so I'll have to come back for that. I ate this up so fast it was embarrassing! I loveeeee the cabbage and finished that first . I put some of the oxtail juice on the rice while I ate the oxtail and oooooooo it was too good. I admit that I don't have a lot of experience with Jamaican cuisine. That said, I do enjoy the flavor profiles of Iwayne's Caribbean Kitchen. The menu seems very authentic although I'll have to defer to others in the know as to whether it's the real thing or not. We tried the jerk chicken and the curry chicken. Both dishes were cooked properly to an appropriate doneness and were not overly spicy. Each was accompanied by rice and plantains. The plantains were perhaps the highlight for me, golden crispy yet tender enough to enjoy. Suffice it to say, the food is decent. However, I don't find myself craving it enough to think about the next visit. The food isn't bad, but it isn't great in my opinion-just good. read more

Came here for a late lunch on Sunday and this place did not disappoint. My husband and I ordered the jerk chicken and goat curry with rice and plantains along with a beef patty. The goat curry melted in my mouth, it was perfectly seasoned and had a slight kick to it. Not only was it delicious there was plenty of boneless goat meat. The jerk chicken had a nice char and flavor to it but the star of this show are the sauces. I'm unsure of the names of them but both of them were fantastic. The darker colored one had a smoky flavor and helped to emphasize the tenderness of the chicken. The yellow sauce was a spicy tropical fruit mix that I'm convinced will go well with almost anything. I'm unsure if he sells larger containers of these sauces but I would highly recommend buying some if he does. The beef Patty was out of this world. The pastry was light and flaky and had a nice flavor on its own. The beef inside was perfectly spiced and super tender. The rice and peas and plantains are both good. The owner kindly offered us some homemade drinks he made called the siren. It's a spiced punch that is good on its own or would make a great mixer for any drinks. If he has any when you visit make sure to get a glass. Between the amazing food and friendly service you would be doing Yourself a disservice by not treating your tastebuds to this delicious food. read more

Good place. Everything is cooked to order, so make sure that you have plenty of time. I ordered Ackee and Saltfish with a side of festivals and plantains. However, I think the star of the show was their beef patties. They had a full body taste to them. All in all, I'd be back. The food operator was pretty cool too. The BEST Rasta Pasta I've ever had! Everything is fresh with large sized portions you can even share. Located right in the heart of downtown Manor and easily accessible. I could eat here everyday with all the great menu options. Not to mention the customer service is top notch - a lil too hot for me to currently eat outside in the summer, but the ambiance is very inviting. I also enjoy talking to the owner about Jamaica and his return trips to get authentic ingredients Save the juicy, falling of the bone, mouth-watering oxtails for me tho .. that's my #1 favorite! read more

So many great things to say about this place. Had it two days in a row. First day, jerk chicken with rice and curried chicken. DELICIOUS. Great spice and flavors. Get some extra hot sauce if you wanna feel the heat. Second day I got beef patties. My favorite. Individually wrapped, flaky crust, loaded with well spiced beef. Ratio of meat to bread was on par. I've had beef patties from many different restaurants, and these are by far my favorite. Hospitality from the owners was great. It was like going to a family gathering, like we'd known them forever. Seating area was spaced accordingly to align with COVID-19's 6 feet apart. There was sanitizer at the tables and at the food truck. Definitely worth the drive out there. Pro tip, bring some mosquito repellent if you're going to be hanging out for a long time. Sorry I don't have any photos, ya girl was ready to FEAST on the goods. read more

I really wanted to like this food. Coming from NYC, growing up in a predominantly Caribbean neighborhood and having traveled to the Caribbean quite a bit I was really hoping to find a local jamaican food restaurant that would remind of home and unfortunately I haven't found that place yet in the Austin area. The patties weren't flavorful and seemed like the frozen variety reheated, not homemade. Oxtail was okay, nothing to write home about. I guess I'm going to have to drive to either Killeen or Houston to get my fill because this is the 4th jamaican restaurant I've tried since moving here that let me down. read more

OMG. Delicious!! I had shrimp creole, plantains and cabbage (I'm pescatarian). It was soooo good. You must add the sauce. It's spicy and super tasty. I'm so happy they came to Whisper Valley today. Highly recommend!! And I'm from the Caribbean... just saying! read more

Went and visited here after seeing several positive reviews on Facebook. I couldn't be happier I went. I seriously found my new favorite food truck. Everything I ordered was delicious. EVERYTHING. I ordered jerk chicken, Mac & cheese & cabbage. My 2nd plate was curry chicken, beans & rice and cabbage. Everything was very well seasoned and flavored. There was honestly not one dish I thought was meh, all of it hands down delicious. My kids also loved it. Highly recommend you try it out! read more

There were definitely some issues, but I think that lays more on the restaurant itself rather than the servers. Sure they know the plates name and what is used to make it, but they couldn't tell us what made it a "Guyanese Roti". Was it a bussup shut? Was it dosti? They had no idea. We sent the jerk chicken back so we could get it cut up into some smaller pieces so we could share it, and the kitchen refused. Which was a little annoying, but what was more annoying was that it took them over 10 minutes to just say no. The staff here is not trained to deal with some real deal Trinis who are gonna rib you and ask questions about the food. *Drinks- We enjoyed all the drinks we had! They were all delicious and we liked that they at least used some Caribbean ingredients in them. The beer section is lacking heavily though. To only offer red stripe as the Caribbean beer is very disappointing, especially since Carib and Stag are sold here in the states. The excuse of it being "too expensive" doesn't sit well when I can go to total wine down the road and get it. *Food- The most controversial part of our meal. We ordered quite a bit after being told everything was shareable, but what we found that to not be 100% true. Certain things like the Wild Boar pepper pot were, but the "West Indies" curry was not. Most of the food was sadly not remarkable and didn't have the spice and flavor it should've had. The most disappointing was the curry, it felt more like a Japanese style curry than a West Indies curry. Barely any meat for the 28 dollars you pay, the flavor was just flat with no spice, and whatdeass is the cabbage there for? I don't want to hark too much, because at the end we still enjoyed the food. But do not come here thinking you're going to get the real deal Caribbean cuisine. *Dessert- I guess we wanted a "likkle muore" and ordered desert. We had the flan and tres leches, and both were delicious. If you want a little something sweet, I'd recommend the flan. It was almost a cheesecake texture and the jam it came with complimented that extremely well. Wasn't too sweet and it was a great end to the meal. TLDR; The food is okay, but at this price it's not worth it. It's not true enough to Caribbean food as we would have liked. If they're playing to "local" tastes, they should stop and serve dishes with the spice, seasonings, and strong flavor that is so synonymous with Caribbean food. I wouldn't come back, nor would I recommend it, especially charging $28 for a curry with 4 pieces of meat, 5 potatoes, and 3 pieces of chana. If you do come; get a drink, get the wild boar and roti, get the flan, and maybe grab a shirt that says "jerk your heart out" on your way out.

From speaking with Tony Jr. today, they also have a restaurant in Pflugerville. I ordered jerk chicken, which fell off the bones and came with cabbage, rice and peas and plantain. I have traveled to Jamaica a couple of times, this Jamaican food was the real deal. The jerk chicken was a bit spicey but not set your tongue on fire spicey. The rice and peas along with the cabbage was perfectly seasoned. The standout for me was the sweet plantain, spoken like a plantain connoisseur. The plantain was sweet on the inside and slightly charred on the outside...perfect combination. The only improvement would have been for me to get a side of plantain. My food was delivered fast and hot. Tony Jr. was super personable and friendly. There is seating in the center of the food truck park. You hear tunes being played in the background. The food truck park is at the core of East Austin in a semi-residential area. Street parking is available for diners. I look forward to trying curry goat and oxtails and more.

We decided to eat at Bikkle, close to the University of Texas at Austin on Guadalupe Street. Bikkle is known for its authentic Jamaican cuisine such as jerk chicken, oxtails (hard to find anywhere anymore) and curry goat. Between the four of us, we ordered jerk chicken, curry goat, and curry chicken. We all went for red beans and rice with cabbage. All dishes came with plantain, which is one of my favorites. Having been to Jamaica a couple of times, I can report out that this food is authentic! The flavors were swirls of goodness in every bite. The food was also warm when served. We also ordered jerk chicken egg rolls. Just think about that concept for a minute. The jerk chicken egg rolls were exceptionally good. The highlight for me was the curry goat. First, you do not find goats on many menus. The curry goat was tender and oh so flavorful. Some pieces had associated fat. All in all, everyone was happy with their meals. During our dinner, only one person was serving customers. She was super friendly and personable. I must think she was overworked as the stream of customers came in. Now for the décor...if you walked in and looked only at the counter, you would have thought it was a "to go" restaurant only as many "to go" containers were stacked high on the counter. Only one other couple sat down and ate in the restaurants and most folks were picking up their food to go. Even the people eating inside the restaurant were served in "to go" containers. The inside is minimalist with no ornate furnishings and yellow walls, projecting a Caribbean feel. Recommend adding a bit more Jamaican artifacts such palm trees, Jamaican flag, surfboard, etc. It would be a great spot for students, friend meet ups and a causal date night... Bikkle Jamaican Restaurant it was great and represented authentic Jamaican food well! We definitely will be returning.
