I loved boteco when I went! It's a food truck in a small food truck park on Barton springs road. The food is made quite fresh so you do have to wait but I think it's worth it. The meat in particular is FABULOUS quality. First time i went the workers were friendly and helpful too, and I was full after I ate what I ordered. Definitely planning to go back and try other things at some point~ I drove past it the other day and saw it is still there which made me think of it Still hoping the prices come down a bit, since when I went they were up from even the pics on their site (darn inflation, eh?)

Everything I've tried here has been absolutely jaw dropping. This should be number one on your list to try in Austin. The food is absolutely incredible and the owner is super kind. Located in the food truck park with parking which is awesome too. There are several other spots but trust me this is it!

This is not what I expected!!! Never see a Brazilian pastel like this. The Coxinha was over fried and garlic bread steak sandwiches were over cooked also. Brazilian food truck that has no Brazilian working there so could not expect to eat the real deal!

Can't miss the yellow food truck!

If you never had picanha cut of steak this is probably the best way to experience it! Usually it is served at Brazilian steak houses and it is thinly sliced. Boteco serves it steak cut and it is amazing! We ordered the Picanha Grelhada and it did not disappoint. The Farofa is a unique flavoring to add to the steak and adds a different texture as well. Everything was tasty. The yuca fries are also a must!

We were really craving for Brazilian food and found this food truck. Asked for the Picanha and Feojada and oh my! Be prepared to experience a variety of flavors and textures! You won't regret it! You can order ahead as it takes a rough 15 mins over the weekend

Boteco, the Brazilian food truck on Barton Springs was delicious. I ordered the traditional Feijoada because it was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. If Guy orders it, I will too. For the record, I've had Feijoada previously so I'm not just getting what he ordered. Great flavors here and the covered picnic tables between the half dozen food trucks is a great spot to eat. I'll be back!

Cute food truck serving up authentic Brazilian food, but the dishes I tried were very hit or miss. They weren't crazy busy around 2:15pm on a Sunday; however, they had sold out of their fresh juices by then. Sadly, they didn't have their Pão de Queijo Sandwich available in October 2021 (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=-PNpNxyA9bixix1ahmbZZA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg), but hopefully it is now back on the menu. You order and pay first, and they call your name once your order is ready. We tried: -Yuca Fries (Chimichurri Aioli, $5), Coxinha (Chicken & Cream Cheese, $7), Beef Pastel/Empanada ($5), Cheese Pastel/Empanada ($5) [https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=GA3QhBV4z0VR17vxfNLjNw&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg]: The yuca fries were my favorite item out of the fried appetizer-y foods, and they were crispy, crunchy, and served piping hot- recommended! The cheese empanada was also really good- the crust was flaky and crispy, and the filling was nice and cheesy. The coxinha were solid, but the shredded chicken was a little dry. I wasn't a fan of the beef empanada since the filling was on the dry side. Their cilantro dipping sauce was delicious, and a must try with the appetizers. -Picanha Grelhada (Med-Rare Cap Top Sirloin Steak, Rice, Beans, Farofa, Vinaigrette, Fried Egg, Caramelized Onions, $17, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=v4pCmPSOmwwVfRU8rCwxEQ&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): I was super excited to try this dish, but thought it was just ok. The sirloin was tender, but not very flavorful. On the flip side, the beans and rice were overly salty. I wouldn't order this dish again, especially for the price. -Feijoada (Black Beans & Pork Stew, Rice, Farofa, Collard Greens, Oranges, $14, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=tiQt8AziJ-eAVy5wuu7ICA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): I don't really like stews, and this dish definitely wasn't my style, so take this feedback with a grain of salt! The stew was too salty, and the pork was overcooked and on the dry side. My favorite part of this dish was actually the collard greens, which added a fresh bite to this dish. I wouldn't order this dish again. The staff here were so friendly and helpful, and I know we would've had a better experience with their pão de queijo sandwich and fresh fruit juices! Since this is a food truck, only outdoor seating is available. They have a few picnic tables set up with some shade; however, the unshaded areas get super hot during the summer months. Parking is also difficult to find in this area, but some street parking spots are available.

I ordered on DoorDash so this is just a review for the food. I got the picanha grelhada which has rice, black beans, steak, onions, green onions, egg, and some kind of pickled veggies or radish. Great combination of flavors!

It's been more than 2 years since I first visited Boteco, and I originally came with a friend who claims this is one of the best food trucks in Austin. At the time, I didn't think much about Boteco's food besides their prices are a bit steep for food truck food. It wasn't exactly a memorable experience that made me want to come back again. However, more recently, I was sitting in the lobby of my apartment building with my boyfriend and saw Guy Fieri's special on Food Network. He was watching another man cook in a food truck, and I exclaimed to my boyfriend that the food looked excellent and reminded me of Boteco (I originally went with my boyfriend and another acquaintance). He said that it was and Guy Fieri had come to Austin to do a food special with Boteco and its owner! I said that we had to go, and we did. The owner happened to be at the food truck that night (we went around an hour before closing), and we told him we came because we saw him on Food Network. He explained to us that Guy had come maybe 2 years prior and Foot Network doesn't inform him of when they release the footage. He said that he catered for Matthew McConaughey's wife's birthday party a few years back because she's Brazilian, and the couple loved the food so much that they befriended Boteco's owner. Matthew was even the person who recommended Boteco to Guy for his show, and the rest is history! I thought it was a really exciting and interesting story, and I'm really glad to have heard it directly from the owner himself. Let's start with the food! My boyfriend and I ordered yuca fries, traditional pork stew, and Feijoada. Everything came out pretty quickly and as you can see from the photos, the food is plated nicely as well. There are a lot of components to their main dishes, so I would recommend you mix the bowl before you take a large bite. Everything was cooked perfectly. The yuca fries are crispy, and the sauce is everything! It reminds me a little of the truffle fries sauce from Hopdoddy's. I definitely wish they gave you more of the sauce because I typically douse my food in sauce. I loved my beef dish. The meat is tender and a little bit tough, but there are some fatty parts to even out the texture. My boyfriend really liked his pork stew as well. I definitely would want to come again. It's on the pricier side (we spent about $50), but in my opinion, it's totally worth it. Next time, I want to order their mango juice and other fresh drinks.

Wow! What an experience! I ordered the yuca fries, the picanha grelhada, and a mango juice to drink. I loved every bite Let me start with the Yuca fries.. they were so thick and juicy and they paired extremely well with the sauce. All French fries should be this fresh and thick. The picanha grelhada was excellent and very good quality. Everything included with the bowl blended together extremely well and had a great flavor profile. Last but not least the mango juice was tasty and very fresh. Overall, I loved this spot and will be back soon.

I haven't really had Brazilian food before, aside from the meats at Fogo de Chao, so I came to visit Boteco to explore what else the cuisine has to offer. Feijoada is one dish I tried which features a sausage stew where the meat MELTS in your mouth pretty much. It was really tender and flavorful! The Picanha Grelhada is another that I got which comes with top sirloin. Both come with rice, beans, and farofa (Rice flour - unique in texture!). All in all, both were really refreshing to eat. I like how health conscious Latin American dishes are. Overall, I'm glad I got to try this out. Overall I would give them a 3.5/5 if I could. However, there was more to be desired from the beef and the size portion of the dish left me still hungry afterwards. They were featured by Guy Fieri's Diner's, Drive-In's, and Dive's too so they're worth at least one visit!

Kicking off our trip in Austin with Boteco as our first meal was brilliant. It's one of the many food trucks you'll find in this city and quite surprisingly, there was only our party and another that was there that Saturday evening. I wonder if daytime is when you'll find a crowd here because frankly, with the food they dish out, I would assume there's always a line. By no means am I complaining having had a nice and quiet meal outdoors in a backyard setting while sitting on a wooden bench under a canopy with string lights all around. We had the place to ourselves and was even attended to by the guy who ran the truck making sure everything was pleasant. Pastel de Queijo ($4) or 4 cheese empanadas if you will was such a delight with a super crisp crust. Though hollow inside, you can somehow confirm there is lots of cheese and when you pair it with their chimichurri aioli, you've got yourself a winner. I liked their Yuca Fries($5), too but it needs to be shared as it is on the heavy side. Now, the highlight here really is their House Special PICANHA GRELHADA ($15). Cooked to a perfect med-rare pink oozing with a toothsome flavor, the sirloin cap steak was ridiculously tender. Pair it with fried egg, rice, beans, and what-have-you, for such a reasonable price, I hit nirvana just like that.

It's challenging to replicate the same experience locally, as these restaurants lack access to the fresh, local ingredients that define their unique cuisine. Casa Colombia does a good job replicating a true Colombian dining experience. Their menu is extensive with some very interesting offerings. Scanning the dining room, I noticed that their portions are huge. We started with a shrimp cocktail, an empanada, and their version of a rum - mango martini. The small option for the shrimp cocktail was bountiful and easily shared. The housemade cocktail sauce was a perfect accompaniment. The empanada was a tad dry, but their spicy salsa sauce was a great addition. Our "martini" was sweet but very satisfying on a warm afternoon. We did want to try their ceviche, but they are using tilapia as their fish. Quality Seafood is not too far away, and I'm sure that they could offer a better-tasting white fish than plain ole tilapia. We split one of their house specials, the Bandeja Paisa Tipica. This is a traditional Colombian dish, and it is a meat lover's dream served on an oversized platter. Our platter arrived with a chorizo link, beef sirloin, rice, red beans with pork, a huge fried chicharrón, an arepa, a sweet plantain, a slice of avocado (well, there's the only healthy portion), and a fried egg on top. We struggled to eat about 70% of this feast. It's going to take a few visits to the gym to work off this lunch. Dis & Dat: Parking is a breeze as they have their own parking lot. They do offer a happy hour that begins at 3 PM. A definite 4-plus star experience.

I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. Shoutout to El Alma for being a TexMex oasis saving me from the MoPac traffic. RIYL: TexMex, but better than your average

I started with the Margarita on the rocks from the happy hour menu. It was made from scratch with tequila, triple sec, fresh lime, and cane sugar. I added mango flavor and tajin. The event ordered the Tropical Ceviche for the table with fresh fish cured in lime, with cilantro, avocado and onions. It was served with plantain chips. The flavors in this ceviche were so balanced and light. I was blown away on how much I enjoyed this. For my entree, I ordered Lechón Asado the most traditional Cuban dish. It is pulled pork marinated with Cuban Mojo criollo and slowly oven roasted. It was served with your choice of beans, rice and plantain. I went with the black beans, white rice and Yucca con Mojo. You can taste the citrus, garlic, and slow-roasted depth in every bite. It was juicy without being heavy and felt authentically prepared. The portion was generous, and everything on the plate complemented the pork beautifully. It felt comforting, well balanced, and thoughtfully executed. I did have an issue with slow service as far as receiving my food and one margarita I ordered was never delivered and I had to follow up on. Also my food was added to another person's check instead of on a separate check. However, these issues can be expected with a large event. It was a great location to host an event. If you're craving real Cuban flavors, Cuba 512 is a great choice.
