Jerk Chicken, Oxtails, Rice, Cabbage, and Plantains
    Joshua E.

I ordered from here specifically for the ox tails. I was craving ox tails and I'd heard that they were black owned so I had to try it. The jerk chicken stole the show. It wasn't spicy but the flavor was great! The Ox tails were pretty good. Not quite what I was expecting from ox tails but still good. I'd eat them again. The 2 small slices of plantains that were included weren't bad but I wouldn't say they were good either. When I opened the food up, I was initially upset that it was only 2 slices. After trying them, I didn't mind. The rice was eh, until I tried it with the sauce/roux from the ox tails. That made the rice taste great! I wish I had more of it to drizzle over all of the rice. The cabbage was better than expected and I wish that I'd been given more of that instead of the plantains. The price was a bit steep but I did order it through Uber Eats, so it was kind of expected. Overall, I recommend this place to anyone in the area. (Especially the jerk chicken)

Food and service was good. Price was a bit high for amount of food. Not somewhere you go for ambiance, but more a laid back casual vibe.

I ordered the combination meal (oxtail and jerk chicken), and it did not disappoint! The dish came with rice, a side of cabbage and plantain - I opted for the rice and peas, though they had two other options available, Both the oxtail and chicken were incredibly flavorful and perfectly cooked. Every bite was packed with authentic Jamaican spices and seasonings. Even though I got my order to go, the food was fresh and hot. For about $28, the portion size and quality were well worth it. The service was also fast. Took less than 5 mins to get my order ready Highly recommend this place if you're craving delicious Jamaican food! Will definitely be back to try more of their menu.

In town and looking for food options, they pop up as a good place to try. So we did! So, the service was BLAND. They seemed dry and uninterested to be at work. We ordered the oxtail and jerk chicken dinners. At 3pm on a Friday, they had run out of cabbage. HOW??? A signature side for a jerk place, and you're out at 3pm. WOW... I got a double rice. My food was fresh, and hot oxtails were very tender, but I didn't care for the gravy. It seemed like a lot of worcestershire sauce was used, and it was heavy on the taste. The restaurant was clean and spacious. I'm not from here, so if I ever come back to Austin, I wouldn't come here.

The jerk chicken plate is the tastiest dish I've had in awhile. It's smokey and flavorful and you'll be licking that rub off your fingers and eating all the meat in the crevices and bones. If your not a hands on eater you will miss out. The plate came with rice and plantains a nice contrast to the jerk chicken. I opted for the goat curry gravy. It was nice and spicy. As for heat level it's persistent but good. There's a sweet dipping sauce that comes with the plate to keep your taste buds on top shape. I thought the price was pretty fair given the portion size. If your a light eater it can easily be two portions or if your like me and you like to eat it was a decent portion without having leftovers.

I've been here many times since I first discovered this restaurant a couple of years ago. This is the best Jamaican restaurant in the area as far quality and service! I've eaten many of their entrees and they're all really good. The oxtails are delicious! You get big pieces and a heaping amount of rice and red beans or rice and gungo rice peas. The oxtails is well flavored and the gravy is scrumptious! I highly recommend this entree! I've also had the brown stew chicken which is always delicious with it's unique flavor and gravy you can go wrong with tenderly and very tasty chicken. One of my favorites it the jerk chicken. It's well seasoned not too spicy, but the accompanying jerk sauce adds a nice savory mix to the flavor. I did have curry goat entre but I wasn't too fond of it. It just wasnt flavorful and tensor to me. Last bit not least the Jamaican beef patties! This is definitely a go. The crust is how a Jamaican patty is supposed to be flaky. The beef is so delicious. The chicken patty is just as delicious! However please support this local eatery and enjoy the wonderful food. Don't forget to check out the Jamaican sodas and the festivals which are delicious!

Customer service is soooo poor. The girls at the register just look at you & wait for you to place your order. There's also a stench when you first walk in but you get used to it after being inside for a while. Food was not hot, and it wasn't that great either. Portion size was small for the $47 price tag. Rice was dry and potato salad was too sweet.

Food is amazing the only Jamaican place I will go in ATX. "sos ke bèf" always get your food hot. It be on point every time I go here. The food is very good.

In town for AfroTech and my friends wanted to come here. It's was on my list to hit up. No regrets! A few things to note they do sell out of things. They don't offer macaroni pie or black cake. The place is clean and pretty big. Crazy to say but the people are kind! Patricia at the check out was super helpful and the cooks in the back were hard at work as some people ordered take out. Our food came out fast. I will say the jerk was not as vinegar based as I'm used too with Scotch bonnet. Oxtail sauce is a good. I will defintely be back!

    Absolutely amazing Jamaican street food

Absolutely amazing Jamaican street food. From the moment the smoky aroma hit my nose, I knew I was in for something special. The jerk chicken was perfectly charred with a deep, spicy rub that had just the right kick--fiery but flavorful. Every bite melted off the bone, infused with that authentic island seasoning you only get when it's cooked low and slow

This place has been on my list for forever and I'm glad I finally got the chance to come! It's a very simple restaurant and a good spot for lunch. I got the Curry Potatoes with Callou Rice. The potatoes were too salty in my opinion on their own so you have to eat it with rice to balance it out. The rice was really buttery. The pickled vegetables were delicious, not too sour and slightly sweet. The fried plantains were definitely the best part! Just sweet enough and not too oily. I wanted to try the Ital Stew but they were out when I came :( reading the other reviews this seems to be the case with a lot of foods.

We started with the jerk beef patties which were not patties at all; they were empanadas served with perfectly spiced dipping sauce. The wild boar pepperpot is amazing and the casareep sauce is unlike anything I've had before. This dish is just meat so you should also order a side dish. The geera is so dang good - so many cool flavors including the apple chow butter. I licked the bowl clean. This dish had squash in it. The cabbage was layered with flavor and I enjoyed the light sweetness the raisins contributed. We ended up adding in the roti bread because both main dishes had sauce that warranted bread. The dessert was a peanut butter ice cream bar covered in dark chocolate. Our waiter described it as an elevated Snickers bar and it was the perfect description.

We came in to a beautifully decorated space with a colorful and vibrant aesthetic. They recommended we order to appetizers, two mains and two sides to share but each of us were feeling very different dishes. I ordered the pepper shrimp which had the right amount of heat and fish rundown which while okay on its own needed a rice or roti to eat with it. I was excited to try to the cabbage and was not sure about the raisins. The server told me it was just a topping and that they can put it in the side (which I asked for). The cabbage not only came out much later than the rest of the food, it had raisins mixed in and ended up being the worse dish. They took it off our bill but definitely felt misguided. Also, it got really loud in the restaurant and was hard to hear my colleagues at the table, so be mindful of that when making a reservation.

We thought the place was closed, because there was no one in the front either. We ordered the jerk chicken wing that came with 4 pieces and my husband ordered their jerk pork. Both regular. Plus a bottled water at $2; total came out to be ~$42 with tip. Plate came with the meat with plenty of jerk sauce, seasoned rice with beans, steamed veggies, and 2 plantains on top. It was a bit on the saltier side. The rice was seasoned and the veggies were good. The jerk sauce however, was really spicy. So spicy that it made my lips turn into that really nice color and made my husband hiccup (but he's not very tolerant of spicy foods). My wings were cooked perfectly, like off the bone perfect. The jerk sauce itself wasn't my favorite though. It was very dark and tangy, and had one ingredient/flavor that overpowered everything else... but it could just be a personal preference at that point. We've been to 3 other jerk places in Dallas and CA, and all 3 places had their own take on the jerk sauce, which tasted pretty similar so we were used to that. The jerk sauce in Dallas, though, is more on the sweeter side, like they put bbq sauce in it or something. Overall, definitely seemed like more people came for take out instead of sitting in. The workers came off a little unfriendly and customer service could use a little work. A customer came in while we ate our food and he waited a good few minutes and had to ring the bell in order to get someone to help him out.

I went back and forth because I thought Tony's was closed today. But after checking again, I realized there are two locations. This location is open on Mondays. The other one is not, but you always have this location on Monday, which is really great. One reason is that after I ate my oxtails, rice, cabbage, and plantains, I realized I would need a location that is always open. Not to get ahead of myself, I walked inside and instantly felt the island vibe of beautiful Jamaica. I took it all in before ordering. The oxtails were the most tender I've had, with a lot of flavor. I should call this dish the most flavorful dish I've ever had. Every item on my plate had a lot of flavor. The rice alone should have its own spot on the menu. It's not always that you find a place that puts as much effort into the rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains as they put into the oxtails. But this place did. This was the real rice and peas that go with oxtails, not some made-up version. The plantains were highly favored; they weren't mushy, they had a firmness and a sweet and savory taste. Now the hostess wasn't friendly at all. I'm still wondering what kind of interaction that was. Of course, I was asking her about the menu, and she just stared at me. It was the strangest thing. To make sure this was happening, I brought up the other location, and she stared, her head tilted. She honestly mumbled one word, and I really don't know what that could have been. So that made me feel uncomfortable.
