It would be $20 to diagnose the problem and then we'd go from there. At 2 o'clock I called the main number because nobody had arrived at my house. They said they would call me back. A short time later the technician called me and said he'd be here in an hour. About an hour and 20 minutes later he showed up. I explained that I thought it was the gear. He went up and confirmed it was the gear. I inquired about replacing it. He said that it couldn't be replaced because it was part of the motor and proceeded to try and sell me a $1200 garage door opener. I asked how much it would cost me to move one of the openers from another door because I have multiple garage door openers. He told me between five and six hundred dollars and then said something along the lines of he could move that garage door opener and then that one break. Then proceeded to try to sell me a $1200 garage door opener again. I told him I'd have to talk it over with my wife and let them know. I said how much for this visit. He told me $40 that's after I was originally told $20. About 10 minutes after he left he called me back and said he spoke to his company and he could do the garage door opener for around $750. I said something along the lines of I'll have to let you know and hung up. I then took it upon myself to evaluate the garage door opener. I took it down removed a little plastic part and wouldn't you know the gear came off in my hand. 10 minutes on Amazon I had a new gear ordered. It's an $11 part. Tonight my garage door is back in service. It's a scummy thing to try and get a customer to spend $1200 when all I needed was and $11 Sprocket.
