It would be $20 to diagnose the problem and then we'd go from there. At 2 o'clock I called the main number because nobody had arrived at my house. They said they would call me back. A short time later the technician called me and said he'd be here in an hour. About an hour and 20 minutes later he showed up. I explained that I thought it was the gear. He went up and confirmed it was the gear. I inquired about replacing it. He said that it couldn't be replaced because it was part of the motor and proceeded to try and sell me a $1200 garage door opener. I asked how much it would cost me to move one of the openers from another door because I have multiple garage door openers. He told me between five and six hundred dollars and then said something along the lines of he could move that garage door opener and then that one break. Then proceeded to try to sell me a $1200 garage door opener again. I told him I'd have to talk it over with my wife and let them know. I said how much for this visit. He told me $40 that's after I was originally told $20. About 10 minutes after he left he called me back and said he spoke to his company and he could do the garage door opener for around $750. I said something along the lines of I'll have to let you know and hung up. I then took it upon myself to evaluate the garage door opener. I took it down removed a little plastic part and wouldn't you know the gear came off in my hand. 10 minutes on Amazon I had a new gear ordered. It's an $11 part. Tonight my garage door is back in service. It's a scummy thing to try and get a customer to spend $1200 when all I needed was and $11 Sprocket.

The person I spoke with said something to the extent of sometimes people don't wanna wait and they buy a new garage door opener. I said I'm fine with ordering parts. I was led to believe that parts could possibly be ordered for my garage door opener. Sunday the technician called me and started talking about a new opener. I mentioned wanting to get mine fixed. He said we don't work on that model opener and I said that's not what I was told. The technician informed me that just for him to come out and look at the garage door opener it would be $175 service call. I canceled my appointment at that time. I gave this company a call after being told they do a lot of work for the city of Frederick. I wonder how much they screw them. I'm disappointed and will never do business with them.

We went through him, and after he was able to order our door, turns out there were additional savings from the manufacturer which he passed on to us. This was after we had accepted his initial price. Install was completed in a few hours once the door was ready, and when I expressed concerns my wife may not be able to open in an emergency, he came over the next day to ensure the balance was correct, and gave an additional turn to each spring to ensure she'd be ok to lift it. Have recommended him twice since to folks in the neighborhood.

I couldn't make the fixes, so Dan came out on a Saturday (I am at least 45 minutes away from his business with no traffic). He repaired one door quickly so I asked him to check the other door for the same issue. He saw potential problems there and fixed those also. Very reasonably priced. Dan was friendly, professional and I asked for several cards to give to friends.
