I called the first one, whom numerous of her coworkers had recommended, and they were trying to find a decent time and day that would work for me, but after we hit a couple dead-ends they recommended a local guy that they respect and felt comfortable referring me to. They told me to call Gary the Doorman. Which I did. He made the appointment with me and when he pulled into my driveway he had a fully-equipped truck. He introduced himself, he was polite and professional, he got right to work, he explained to me his diagnosis and how he would fix it, and he outlined some details about costs and parts I could either upgrade or not upgrade. The price was right so I opted for some new rollers. He smoothed out the track for me. Now my wife's garage door goes up and down smoothly and quieter that before. The price was right and Gary was respectful and competent. I called them 3 weeks ago about 2 separate garage doors at my house. One I had already…read moretroubleshooted and new it was the garage censors the other keeps sticking to the ground and I've done lots of troubleshooting but can't figure it out. I told this to the repair person, Ahmed when he arrived. I was shocked that he did ZERO troubleshooting. He took one look at my first garage door without touching anything, and said it was the censors, which I already knew so I was okay with that. He then looked at my other door, again, did ZERO troubleshooting and didn't touch anything. He then said it was the round pulleys that pull up the garage door. I asked him if he was sure as that didn't make sense. He said he was positive and he gave me a longwinded explanation that really didn't make much sense based on I couldn't understand how that was related to my problem of the door sticking to the ground; however, he is the professional so I took his professional judgement, even though I had a feeling that he was wrong. Before he conducted any work I confirmed his work had a warranty and he said it has a 2 year warranty for the problem he worked on. The one door with the censors was fixed and is working fine and could test it out then. The other door I couldn't test out as it take 12+ hours of it being stationary closed before the sticking issue happens. He originally wanted to charge me $900 dollars for both garage doors but was fairly easily talked down to $600, $300 for each door as he said. I didn't really mind paying the $300 for the garage door censor door, even though was still a massive markup for these $50-$100 censors; however, $300 for the other door seemed extremely high as all he did was replace 4 pulleys, which I looked up on the internet and found them as an average price of $5-8 each. He stated that he has increased his prices (price gouging) lately and blamed lack of availability on these items; however, each source I saw these pulleys at showed availability of them and to include same day shipping or same day pickup available. I paid it under protest as at this point he already did the work (he started the work before even giving me a quote). I wasn't happy about the price gouging or paying $300 for $5 parts and 10 minutes of actual work for the second door; however, I did anyway under the promise this would fix my problem and if not he would come back and fix it for free. Well, I called the company to complain a few days later when I found he did NOT fix the problem on the second door as I expected as it was still sticking exactly as previous. They just referred the worker to call me and wasn't interested in the details at all. Ahmed did come back to my house, but unfortunately I had to leave my house earlier and use the garage so it was sticking when he go there. I kept explaining to him what the issue was but didn't feel like he was listening. He asked me to take some videos and call him directly when I have the videos. In the past 2 weeks I took 5 videos of this issue now. I called him last week but he ghosted me and didn't answer or call me back. I called him again this week and again he ghosted me and didn't call me back or answer my call. At this point it is obvious that I was scammed. Ahmed didn't properly diagnose my problem, fixed something that wasn't broken and charged me 5 times a fair rate and is now refusing to honor the warranty and won't even answer or return my calls. I will take escalating action on this; however, want to warn other potential customers first to NOT use this company.
