If there was a way to rank this company as ZERO stars, I would. Consumer BEWARE! Believe the Better…read moreBusiness Bureau's "F" rating when it comes to considering Damiano Paving & Sealcoating. Frank Damiano, the owner, is the brother of a good friend, so we felt comfortable hiring him to do our driveway and wall. That was a big mistake! It started with needing cash up front and promises to have the jobs done within a week. Six months later, not one job was completed, and after all the harassing texts and calls, we are cutting our losses to move on to a professional company after receiving more quotes. Unfortunately, we will never be able to get any of the money that we spent back, according to our lawyer, he has so many lawsuits against him that a lawsuit would get us nothing. This was a lesson that we had to learn the hard way, and we do not want to see anyone else get taken advantage of. The best thing that could happen is everyone stays away from this poorly operated company, and it ceases to exist.
At first, everything seems good, and he gives you sweatshirts, counterfeit Gucci items, and promises of work at a decent price. Once he receives money, he eventually starts getting other people onsite to do some work, then it changes to excuse after excuse of why the job cannot be done. Eventually, you find his equipment and tools parked on your property for a month and he's destroyed the front yard, back yard and driveway. When you call or text, he states that he'll be there and never shows up. He would not finish the retaining wall until he was paid in full, once he had the money, he disappeared while all the time constantly saying he would show up to finish. We had to finish the excavation work that he left sitting for months, order loads of stone to backfill the retaining wall, and add stone to make our drive into the garage accessible. The harassing texts keep continuing, After the arguing, he starts to apologize and tells you that he'll be there and never comes. The texts and his behavior became so erratic and harassing that we had to call the police on him twice. Over the winter two separate subcontractors stopped by our house to tell us how he bragged to them about ripping us off by more than double, then proceeded to not pay them.
We are usually intelligent people, but making the mistake of hiring this company and person has left us feeling dumb, cheated, and held hostage. Finally, we smartened up and contacted a lawyer that informed us not to give another dollar since we'll never receive the service that we already paid for, and the company does not have any assets to recoup losses against. We had moved on to having some other companies quote and inspect the work done. Each reputable company has shown us why the work done was poor and should be removed and redone. They each even knew of the owner and some of his issues with work, people, and drug use (this explained a lot of his behaviors). The estimates were much less than our friend's brother charged us, and the quoted work is more detailed and warranted.
Our recommendation is to keep clear of this company at all costs, and if you are already under contract, do not pay anything upfront or expect to have work completed as initially stated. If this guy is going to take advantage of a disabled vet and a family friend to this extent, I hate to see how he will rip off a stranger.
No one deserves to be treated like this. I wish I had been able to find bad reviews on him.
