The best part about Magoo's is how easy it was to get there by car only to realize I could have walked instead. It was a mid morning with plenty of parking spaces and was quickly seated inside. Magoo's is a straight-up Tex-Mex diner with great options to choose and a friendly atmosphere inside. The waitress offered an "off-menu" option after an inquiry about a carne asada burrito. I took it and what arrived was carne asada in a red sauce, scrambled eggs, refried beans with two tortillas. Definitely a crowd pleaser with Magoo's food, and what I wanted was there all along but I had to ask for it. Perfecto! read more

The cheesy fries were the best, but otherwise it was really good. The service was well very fast.

We weren't impressed by this diner but it seemed to have some regulars so maybe we just ordered the wrong things. Husband got huevos ranchero plate and I just got oatmeal with an egg. Service was friendly, just nothing spectacular to report about the experience sadly. read more

I can not even begin to describe how much of a literal oasis in the desert this place was. Breakfast was absolutely incredible. The eggs, bacon, and potatoes were so flavorful and perfectly cooked. Their huevos rancheros had a salsa in it that I wish I could have an infinite supply of. The staff were so nice and it was wonderful seeing them interact with the local frequents as if they were family. Seat yourself upon arrival. We both got the plate with eggs, one meat of choice, potatoes and with either a biscuit or toast. For some reason they put a piece of sausage on my plate even though it only comes with either bacon or sausage. Eggs were scrambled and well done, the potatoes had good flavor but some pieces weren't quite cooked all the way. Ordered the oatmeal for our toddler which was supposed to have come with toast but it never made it to our table. Overall average food, not bad for the price. If you're ever in Alpine Tx you have to eat here! Everything is great! It doesn't matter what time of day and the service is amazing! They are professional, kind and if you're not sure what you want just ask them they will order for you lol! And if they are busy help yourself to the coffee, tea or soda refills! They don't mind at all and we absolutely didn't mind getting our own refills to help them out! We went on vacation and even though we stayed in hotels in other towns close by we drove to Alpine to eat! The restaurant is family owned and the ambiance is fitting for a small town feel! read more

Their burgers are plump and juicy and large enough to share. If you order the plate it comes with home fries that are delicious and service with with a smile. it was jampacked crammed busy and yet the service was promp and food was hot. The servers back each other up and always came with smiles and very positive attitudes. For breakfast, Pat had a short stack of pancakes. Two delicious full-plate cakes were so much, she got a To-go box. My Huebos Rancheros were likewise plentiful. Cheese-topped over-easy eggs on refried beans atop two tortillas, with a delicious red sauce, challenge the biggest appetite. When in Alpine, this is a must stop for either breakfast or lunch or both. AND we saved a generous amount by paying with cash!!! read more

Our family has always enjoyed Magoo's for breakfast. Delicious every time! But we'd never tried their lunch menu. We recently had their red cheese enchiladas and I can honestly say these are the BEST restaurant enchiladas I've ever eaten. I'm a red enchilada snob because I've been spoiled with epic homemade ones all my life. In fact, I normally don't order them from a restaurant because it's usually a disappointment. On our way back from Terlingua we stopped for breakfast. One thing I can't stand is going to some distant place and eating at like McDonalds or such. If you can eat that way at home why do so when your out. So we pooped into Magoo's and I have to say it was the right choice!! We walked in and all of the unused tables were dirty but the staff were very kind and told us to choose and table and they would clean it off. We sat down and someone came to take our order. I ordered the bean and cheese burrito with a side of hash browns. My friend ordered pancakes. The wait time was short and and we were brought our food. The pancakes tasted great. What a fun little place for breakfast! Definitely a local favorite! Our server was the sweetest lady imaginable and allowed me to custom order my omelet: two egg whites, all veggies except jalapeños, and just a small amount of cheese. It was perfect! I was in town for a few days to attend a wedding. One morning, my brother-in-law and I went out for breakfast and tried Magoo's. I got the #1 with ham, he got the #2 with gravy, and we both had iced tea. While waiting for our meal, we watched a worker clear a table. He sprayed and wiped the entire table surface, every chair, and every arm rest with chlorinated solution and carefully dried them off. That was VERY reassuring to see. Our food was hot and delicious with generous portions. I could wish that the tea was more flavorful and with free refills but you can't have everything. We came away as pleased as could be. read more
