John Fish & Chips - "2" piece fish and chips

There were some people there, but wasn't busy on a weekday lunch hour. Seem to be an one-man-show when I was there, as the guy cooked the food and took the payment. Got the 2 piece fish and chips. Didn't wait too long. Ended up getting a pretty big box of food that was actually 3 pieces of fried fish, along with a bed of fries and some salad, all for about $20. Comes with the salad vinaigrette, tartar sauce, and a lemon wedge. Portions definitely generous. The salad was tangy. Both the fish and fries were fried nice and crispy. Good batter on the fish. Was on the fence about adding more salt but with the tartar sauce it was fine. Everything was good except the actual fish, which was a bit mushy. Not expecting super high quality for the price, but the texture wasn't great. Overall, I would give 5 stars for everything else about the box of food, but the mushy fish is 3 stars. Average it to 4.

Just stick to the fish and chips, and you won't go wrong. But stray from those two items and you…read morerisk major disappointments... like my husband and kids did. The ramen bowls are basically packaged noodles with a few veggies thrown in, all softened by boiling water. With only a few tables outside, John's is exactly where you want to be to watch the Canada Day Parade, or any time you're craving a thick, crispy cod, with no frills.

Stella Sopra Italian - Best eggplant parm ever!

If you find yourself anywhere near the Tulip Festival, make sure this spot is on your list…read more During our weekend of tulip sightseeing, Stella Sopra ended up stealing the show. We came for the flowers, but this little food truck parked at Tulip Valley Winery delivered the kind of meal that sticks with you. There's something magical about pairing genuine, well-crafted Italian food with a flight of local wines. Chef Alberto runs the whole operation himself cooking, serving, sharing stories, and making you feel like you've been invited to Sunday lunch at his family's table in Italy. His passion shows in every bite. I've had plenty of eggplant parm over the years, but this one? Best I've ever eaten. Served in a simple plastic container yet unforgettable perfectly balanced sauce pasta cooked just right, and eggplant that was tender and full of flavor. My husband ordered the chicken mushroom ravioli, and I was tempted to sample half of it. Big, pillowy pasta filled with rich, savory goodness an absolute win! We also split a Caesar salad (because veggie balance is important) and ended on a high note with tiramisu. It was airy, creamy, and just espresso kissed enough to keep you going back for another spoonful. We lingered on the patio glass of wine in hand, soaking up the scenery and wondering how a food truck in the middle of tulip country had turned into one of our favorite dining experiences in ages. The Stella Sopra truck travels between Bellingham and Mount Vernon. If you see it parked anywhere don't overthink it. Order whatever catches your eye. You'll definitely leave happy.

The gnocchi is delicious, as is the lasagna but the eggplant parmigiana is the best I've ever had! I always stop when I see them parked outside of Menace brewing. This was…read morea charming little spot for lunch that definitely exceeded my expectations given its location in middle of nowhere BC. The bulgogi was flavorful, and balanced with vegetable in addition to meat. My husband ordered the dolsot bibimbap which was delicious as well. Only complaint is that the kimchi was a little underfermented (not sour enough for my liking). Also appreciated that the meal comes with barley tea, which is just what I needed on a rainy day. Disclaimer: The walls also show that if you give a 5-star review on Google, you get a free spring roll. I'm sorry, bribing your customers with free food does not seem right to me, so while I'd normally be more on the fence about whether my 4.5 star experience should be rounded up to 5, this bit of dishonesty makes me feel compelled to bring it down to 4.

The squid came out first and it was exactly as advertised. It was very tender and flavourful. The bibimbap came out next and came with all the fixings. It was very good and the left a clean bowl. Definitely will return, I'm very happy to have found a place in Chilliwack that serves Korean food that isn't just fried chicken.
