I've enjoyed my pool service company for over three years until now. We've been experiencing some severe wind storms these past few weeks which have wreaked havoc on the pools here in the Coachella Valley. I've never had an issue with John servicing my pool and jacuzzi. He's always been punctual and left my pool sparkling....until last Monday. I sent him a quick text message asking why my pool is the only one in my community that looks so horrendous and this was his response: "when the pools have a half inch of dirt and are trashed from a big windstorm it takes some time to get them back in shape. For the last 2 months it's been a disaster every visit and I spend the extra time to get you back in shape. This last storm went over the top and I wasn't able to get all the dirt because so much of it was suspended in the water that it couldn't be removed until it settled. Every pool has been that way this week and it would be impossible to finish them all in one day. I'm sure you've seen what I walk into every week. I would've hoped you would've understood that this isn't normal. I want you to be happy and it seems like you're not. We are scheduled to be there this Friday to get you cleaned up. After we do that, might be best that we part ways. You can disregard the current invoice and don't worry about the service done this month. If you already sent out the check I'll make sure to return it. Thanks." Wasn't that a "flawless" response when all I asked was why my pool looks like a flock of seagulls used it as a bathroom? I live in a smaller community and no other pool looks like ours. As a matter of fact, this company also services the larger pool across the street and their pool is sparkling. Thankfully there are more pool companies in our valley than plastic surgeons so I don't anticipate having a problem finding a new pool company. I guess this is the new normal to be fired by a pool company when they can't do their job and the customer contacts them to complain. In my opinion that was pretty low and unprofessional. What a difference John and Janey have made since I switched over to them for my pool service. My new pool looks great. They are so professional and well educated with maintaining the water of the pool correctly and the equipment to a higher level than my previous pool person. Having a certification is valuable in the knowledge of maintaining a pool. I was reading that in Florida you cannot have a pool business without a certification. Too bad California doesn't have the same requirement, so buyer beware. There was an article I was reading on pool care. It stated "you have probably paid more for your pool than your car so make sure to take care of it properly". So true. An added plus is that I called them late on a recent Saturday afternoon about a problem that I was having with setting the control panel. Without hesitation they came by to assist me. As Air Bnb hosts, my husband and I always need to ensure that our pool and spa are working efficiently, so when we got a text from a guest that the spa was not heating up, we panicked as we had just parted ways with our last pool cleaning service and didn't know what we were going to do but knew we had to get the issue taken care of fast. Then we remembered that we had used J&J Flawless once in the past for another pool repair issue and they did a great job that time. I am a long-term tenant in a home that has a pool & spa that is cared for by John at J&J Flawless Pools. A few days after I moved in, John arrived to clean the pool and I pounced with all kinds of questions - how do I operate the controls? What if I want a hot tub? How does it all work? Do I need to do anything special? Without knowing that a tenant had moved in, he didn't even blink -- he spent almost 45 minutes showing me exactly how to work the levers and controls on the pool equipment (operating on propane), with details about WHY. He described how the system worked so that I would understand what to worry about and what NOT to worry about. I've been in the home now for 3 months - through sun, rain & wind. John is always very careful about the pool deck and keeping it clean from the less than easy-entry (he has to bring his equipment through a bit of dirt to get to the pool).
