My parents have had issues for years with their pool and gone through a number of pool guys in that time. My family regularly visit them from out of town and every time we try to use the pool, something doesn't work properly. On our latest visit, fed up with yet another failed attempt to use the spa, we tried calling their current pool guy. So I actually reached out to Bob a few months back in regards to my pool pump. My current pool guy was telling me I needed a new pool pump, and it was going to run me about $1,500.00. I am the type that always likes to get a few opinions before I make a snap decision. I ended up reaching out to Bob, and he was at my house within in hour, he not only checked out my pool pump, but he looked over all of my equipment. He assured me that my pump was fine, although it was a bit older, and ended up saving me $1,500.00. Just recently, my spa light went out. Service was fairly responsive but has not been at allrecently. When we resigned Outback we had $2,500 in pool repairs, which would have cost us more were it not for Home Warranty coverage. I think Outback is far more capable than this and I'm sorry things haven't worked out. Called outback for a repair the other day and had a great experience! My current pool service company said they couldn't fix my problem so I called around and outback was the only company who said they could do it and showed up promptly. I was surprised when the owner Bob showed up to do it himself and fixed the problem same day. I reached out to Outback Pools and had a difficult time getting a hold of Mr. Nelson or getting a response from him. He agreed to come to my place in Cathedral City to determine the situation, this past Saturday. His price sounded good. He was unsure of the time, but it had been agreed to be in the afternoon. Saturday I don't hear from him and I text him and he says he can only come mornings, after he had agreed to come that afternoon. I then foolishly through texting asked if he could come Monday morning before 7 AM. He agreed and again he does not show up and does not even again have the courtesy to let me know this. I called Bob at Outback Pools and asked for a second opinion regarding my current pool service with another company. Bob came out within a few hours and tested my water for chemical levels, inspected my pump, and answered questions I had about what I should be expecting from the other service company, as I had some concerns they weren't maintaining my pool properly. Bob's thorough review showed his knowledge of the business, and also his integrity. Some in this situation would have played on my suspicions that I wasn't getting good service so they could secure the business, but to Bob's credit he was extremely honest and basically told me it appeared they were working hard to keep my pool looking as good as it was. He made some suggestions that should be addressed, and charged me nothing for the visit. He even emailed me a written recap detailing everything we had discussed. I am going to stay with my current pool service for now, but if things take a turn where I don't think the other company is providing quality service I WILL be hiring Bob. If there was anything lower then a star he would deserve it. Prior hiring him checked his reviews it was great. Now i know they're all friends and family. We have a vacation home and all I asked it for it to be clean as I stop by sporadically to use it and guess what? Every time I would go there the pool was filthy. BOB never shows up but yet claims he's been there. He tells me please call him prior my arrival to make sure the pool is clean as an extra service. Why BOB so you clean it prior for me not to find out that you never showed up. I have hidden cameras BOB. Specially yesterday decided to pop in and the pool was filthy he straight out lied to me while slurring (Drunk) " I was there just 2 hours ago". I told you BOB THIS IS NOT THE ONLY POOL I OWN. During our stay at our friend's house at the Cove in La Quinta, a gust of wind blew the massive umbrella, (stand and all) INTO THE POOL. After nearly killing myself trying to get the ~400lb beast out of the pool, I decided to try and call a pool person. In the meantime, sand was escaping from the base into the pool. I basically rang the first 4 numbers I saw on Yelp. The only business that answered was Outback Pools. I was so worried, and Bob was so kind and understanding. He did not judge. He said he was finishing up something in the area and would drop by. He arrived in the time frame promised with another person, assessed the problem, and got the umbrella out of the pool without any damage to the umbrella (or the pool). He then proceeded to vacuum the sand that leached out and check the pool filters. While everything looked great when Bob left, he offered to check-in the next day, just to make sure all was copasetic. If I was a local and had a pool, I would ask Outback Pools to provide regular maintenance and service. We recently had Bob come out to look at our pool heater which was not working properly. As I explained over the phone what the symptoms were, he quickly and accurately described what the potential problem was from easiest (and cheapest) to most difficult. He showed up within an hour and after some diagnosis, determined that, unfortunately, it was on the more difficult and expensive side of what we had discussed, but gave me a very fair quote and told me he could have it done same day and that we would have a working system that evening. After finishing the repair and showing me the bad part (and it was obviously and visually toast), he tested the system and although it did work better, it was still not fully functional. This is when I was most impressed with Outback Pools and Bob - the overheating of the original bad part had also done damage to other parts, but, committed to keeping his word, continued to work on the heater (at his own expense) to make it right - and he did. How many businesses do you know of that stand behind their word and put customer satisfaction first like that? I was genuinely impressed with Bob's knowledge, work and business ethic, and commitment to customer satisfaction and would recommend Outback Pools and Bob to anyone without reservation.
