An Athenite friend of mine insisted we go here when I was in town for a weekend and I'm so glad we did. This place is NUTS. There's a little something for everyone here, and whatever that something is, it's probably cheap. I cannot personally vouch for the food options available (I was getting over a stomach bug and didn't want to chance it) but my friend said that it's generally either the most amazing Mexican fare you've ever had or the sketchiest food you'd want to put in your mouth. I drove all the way from Gainesville to see what this place has to offer. I saw it promoted as much as the pendergrass flea mkt. I went at 2 pm on a Saturday. I drove right on through out the exit without even exiting my car. I saw less than 20 vendors in a flea market that could hold hundreds. Acres of empty parking lots and empty tables. If they're the biggest flea market it is in square footage only. read more

Complete JOKE. Bought a table to sell some things, and after an hour of sales, the manager told me I had to pay triple the amount already paid or leave immediately because I was selling "too much" to remain at the "normal" rate. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE! Do not shop here OR sell here. We went this morning to sell some home made food items and when I went in to the office to pay for our 2 tables ($20) she never asked us what we were selling and we were completely unaware that we could not sell our items. We had not even finished getting completely set up and when the gentleman with the clipboard came around to check tables, he told us that we could not sell the items and we needed to go to the office to ask for our money back. When I asked for it back, she told us we could not have it back. We had only been set up for about 5 minutes and immediately packed everything back up. They do NOT have any signs or rules stating that you cannot sell preservatives on the property or on the website, and again, she did not ask me at all what we were selling when I was checking in. They should have given us our money back. This is absolutely DIRTY. This is stealing! We didn't sell ANYTHING in the 5 minutes that we were there. We had absolutely no issue with the rules that you cannot sell homemade goods, but the fact that they we were not there long and we sold nothing, J&J not giving our money back is dishonorable. We even had a bystander who heard both sides of the story and stood up for us. This woman (the manager) had the audacity to tell this man that he "needed to keep his mouth shut." She then claimed she was going to call the police, which we waited for, she walked off and returned with a man and on the phone with whom we assumed were the police. It was just the owner that she was on the phone with. She only told him her side of the story and she was not in our presence when she told the story so, God only knows what she actually told him. She hung up the phone and said that she would not be giving us back our money and she had talked with the owner. When I asked her if we can have the phone number to speak to the owner to tell our side of the story and she told us that she was not allowed to give us the owner's contact information. I'm sorry, but what kind of establishment has a setup where you are not allowed to speak to the owner about a complaint? My husband even explained the situation to the man who was escorting her upon her return after calling the owner, and you could tell that he agreed with us because he did not verbally speak out against us but he knew that he was not allowed to disagree with her. Let it be known that when we were walking back to the car, the man who was with the manager even walked back with us and he indeed agreed with us while he was not standing next to her. He said, "I know, I just work here and she's the manager." Before we walked back to our car she went on to "ban" all of us from the flea market, as well as the innocent bystander who was only standing up for what was right. So, sorry sweetheart, but you were very wrong in this situation. You have no right to ban that man from ever buying or selling there because he was exercising his freedom of speech and giving his input. SHAME on the J&J Flea Market for treating their vendors, and longtime customers this way. My husband and I have spent hundreds of dollars at this flea market over the past few years. At this point, it's not even about the $20 that was technically stolen from us, it's the principle of the matter that this is not how you treat people who spend money with you. Trust me, banning us from J&J flea market is not a punishment. It does not hurt any of our feelings at all! We have no problem ever returning there with our money again, and anybody that we know that sells there, or goes there to shop, will hear about this and you will also lose their money. I have heard it picks up in the summer. During the winter there are four large buildings with lots of junk. It's like a large garage sale. You can find tons of ripped movies and CDs along with live chickens and fruit. The two Mexican restaurants in building four and two are really good, taste more like real Mexican and less like Tex Mex. read more

A spot to find a lot of cheap produce, odd collectibles, appliances, and all around dusty junk. The buildings house some of your stable booths while the outside is an open sea of wooden tables where anyone whose paid for one can peddle wares. At some odd point in my life, my family made frequent trips here searching for deals or trying to get rid of an ever growing collection of auction items, various memorabilia, vegetables, what have you. This was a time of a lot of legit Pokemon card booths, or the one that might sell you a fake. Ah... all the fake stuff you can buy here. Good times. But all in all, I really believe this place has gone down hill in my latest visit. It's never been great per say, but there was a time where a lot of niche vendors and collectors were here. Particularly, thinking back on a rock collector who sold all the stuff you'd need and then some to polish rocks or study rocks while even selling massive geodes. This stuff just isn't there anymore. It's replaced with walls of factory reject appliances and a lot of really odd junk. Though, honestly, you might find something awesome in all this. It's really a huge yard sale. The produce isn't all that bad, though it is of very questionable origin, but if you're buying produce here you probably don't mind too much...? Appliances can range from $10 for a vacuum to $25 for a kitchen aid stand mixer. There still are old cartridge games at some of the booths. There was also a very nice Tupperware stand too. I didn't really try any of the food... I have eaten here in the past, but that was several years ago, and the places I had eaten at are no longer functioning. The solitary food court, which is extremely small, still is in commission, however. If you go in winter, the buildings are heated. In the summer, there really isn't AC. It's a nice place just to casually walk around, walk your pup, and search for treasure. read more

Huge Letdown, it used to be a great place to go and get good deals and make a few bucks but now it's an empty, waste of time. Tables used to be $6 now they are $10 and really you can only make 10 bucks anymore so it's a waste of time selling there. And do not get me started on the isles. Due to all of these recent reviews being YEARS ago...I want to set the record straight for J &J Flea Market. So here s the COLD, HARD TRUTH with every detail you need for your first (or returning) visit to J & J Flea Market. Getting There: there are signs directing you once you re on Commerce Rd. Very convenient. Parking: there is PLENTY of parking. I saw a review on here pissed off about getting towed when they admitted in their OWN post that the signs said Vendor Only parking. The places you can park are CLEARLY marked PARK HERE. If it says Vendor Only or Dealer Parking Only then clearly you are NOT allowed to park there. If you do you WILL be towed for at least $125 per car. Common sense, right? The Merchants: there are TONS of merchants. I went on a Sunday in the winter and so there were fewer merchants, especially outdoors. On Sundays (especially) the merchants do NOT all arrive early when they open at 8am. But, everyone will be there by 10am for sure. Indoors are permanent merchants. Outside on the tables are either people who sell weekly or one-time dealers looking to make some fast cash. These merchants are friendly and so is management (when you re following posted laws). The Merchandise: This place advertises in some spots as a HUGE YARD SALE and so expect that type of merchandise to be here. They have everything from undergarments to furniture to purses to shoes to rugs to home decor to food to photography sessions to haircuts and MORE. Very good selection. If you re looking for furniture I only saw mostly tables, dressers/desks/etc, mattresses/beds, and lamps. There were far and few (if any) chairs, sofas, loveseats, and other big ticket items as such. I mean, it s NOT a furniture store so it s truly the pickings. You can also find (if you LOOK -- remember flea market ) antiques, collectibles, etc. PARENTS PLEASE NOTE: There IS pornography, pirated movies and music, etc. However, this (meaning the porn) is BEHIND curtains and NOT visual for young children to see. I have 3 children all from 3yrs to 8yrs and made sure to keep their eyes and minds safe. Also beware when buying electronics, computers, and the movies/music cds, etc. Almost ALL if not all of these things have ILLEGAL properties to them such as the computers and electronics sold have pirated programs installed on them (Which YOU will be in trouble for if you ever need to have them fixed) and do NOT come with warranties or paper work of any kind. The prices: Some prices are AMAZING and some are outrageous! it s all up to the specific vendor. Obviously the outside vendors typically NEED the money more so they tend to sell way cheaper. Most vendors CAN be talked down, so do this at every opportunity! The Food: UNLIKE what you ve read in all previous reports (the food quality must have changed through the years), the food is VERY safe to eat atleast at the ONE mexican restaurant we ate at in Bldg #1 or #2 (NOT #4). They are ServSafe certified, have a 100% A test for food handeling safety, are VERY clean and use good required food safety precautions. By the way, the food was INCREDIBLE!!! Please do NOT be racist that if there s a lot of Mexicans at the restaurant it must be filthy. The Mexicans go to the BEST and CLEANEST mexican restaurant and that s truly how you can tell which of the two mexican restaurants was the best. There s also a restaurant in the red barn building but I don t know what it is or what is serves so I couldn t tell you. The Bathrooms: Do I need to say more? It s a flea market and we re talking about bathrooms. You do the math. Not very nice but still OK enough to go potty in. Overall experience: I give them a big thumbs up because over all it was a very great experience and we will be visiting each month. I started going to J & J back in the 1990 through the early 2000 as a vender it was very well maintained and a great flea market for both buyer and seller, I went back in late 2015 it's definitely a different place the outside is very dangerous to walk on it has stumps tree roots holes barb wire sticking out of the ground , if you are handicap in anyway stay away from this flea market , as far as going to rent tables I do not suggest it they have very poor management they are very hateful , liars, they will tell you one price then will come back around and tell you they do that you owe them more money if you don't pay they will tell you to pack up and don't come back again , I know this from my on experience it happened to me and about 10 others on the same row on the same day, the worst thing I think I saw was them having customer's cars towed I saw them tow 25 cars in one day my advice stay far away read more

The management at this place is extremely unprofessional. I sold things here for years, no problems. Plenty of customers that liked my merchandise and came back again several times. Until today. I was told I couldn't sell packaged food or drinks because I was competing against the restaurant there. There were no signs posted that I couldn't do this and I've done it several times before no problems. Never again. They got the 10 dollars for the table and I hope the unprofessional management there is happy with that 10 dollars because they will not be seeing another dime of my money. I'm selling my stuff on ebay, consignment shops, and amazon. Should save me time and money in the long run. By the way can you use that $10 to help improve the parking area? There are ditches running around the seller parking that make it impossible to navigate the area and looks unsafe. Almost everybody is afraid to go to that area. read more

jj flea market is not right they have nothing but scammers and vendors with businesses licenses that sell stolen or fake items (stephanies boutique) which is not fair to us shoppers and other vendors that do legit business out there! i think the jj should better handle and provide better back ground checks to the vendors that have businesses licenses because i hate to buy fake items and were told they were real or charged at the real price but were fake or stolen because that is not fair even broken items and told they were working! read more
