Loved this local spot for breakfast during our visit to Georgia. I had the French toast and it was excellent--great flavors and a cozy, welcoming vibe. Definitely worth a stop.

Cozy full service restaurant with a nice Southern feel Location and Parking Located near downtown Athens, parking is available for free on the side streets. Venue and Atmosphere Enter, grab a menu, order a the counter, get a table number, pick a seat, and wait for your food to arrive. Choose from wooden tables or booths, there's also a bar in the back that's open in the evening. Service Service was prompt, courteous, and efficient. Staff was kind and gave great food recs. Food and Beverages The French Han and Cheese sandwich with a side of tomato soup was excellent. The french bread, variety of cheeses, and pickles complimented each other well. The tomato soup is not what I'm used to (but I loved it!): it's straight tomato flavor, pretty thick, with a dollop of feta. Swirl the feta in and let it melt for a unique flavor. I finished off with a lemon bar, which I thoroughly enjoyed as well. My date had the breakfast plate and she enjoyed it. Verdict I'll be back next time I'm in town!

Friendly staffs and patrons. I came here for coffee and dessert and mainly for a good spot to charge my dying devices - do some work - while my chaperone students rehearsing at UGA. I sat all the way to the end, close to the coffee bar / bathroom area as it has large table for my stuffs and a nearby outlet. Food are ordered from the main counter and they deliver to your table. I ordered vanilla latte and the star chocolate brownie. Good tasting food and an even better service & atmosphere.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Beautiful service, everyone is kind, food comes out at a great pace. The environment is lovely, I love the decorations and all the beautiful wood tables. There's also stunning outside seating. The food itself is AMAZING, always seasoned, always delicious, ALWAYS fresh. One of my favorite restaurants in Athens, consistently good (my gf's addition).

One of our favorite brunch spots in Athens! Excellent atmosphere and friendly service. Be prepared for a line out the door on a weekend but the wait is worth it.

This was right off the main street so not the normal breakfast crowds I was expecting on the weekends. You order right when you enter the building and head to a table inside or out. The patio is large and has lots of shade from trees if its a nice day. Patio appeared to be dog friendly. Food was very fresh and very healthy. I like that they offered grilled vegetables for brunch (breakfast) and gave the option to add an egg, cheese and/or biscuit. The yeast topping was nice touch and gave the meal some substance. They offered normal breakfast type of options as well but I'm glad to try something different. This may be my new favorite breakfast place in Athens.

Oh my gourd, we're stuffed! Like way too stuffed, and not just from the French toast. Let's start with the quiche, it's perfection. Soft, buttery, warm, but truly light! The French toast needs its own review: so flavorful, full of cinnamon, don't even need the syrup. Oh, and the biscuit! Crispy (skillet fried on the inside) with raspberry jam. Yes! They forgot our grits but who cares, we're too full! We'll be back!

Big City Bread has amazing breakfast food-- possibly the best you'll get in Athens-- but it falls into the classic trendy-breakfast-place pitfall of being overpriced. Two fried eggs, bacon, a biscuit, and grits, should never come out to $18 bucks. I can buy a dozen eggs, 20 strips of bacon, a bag of biscuits, and grit mix from Publix for the same price. That being said, the food was delicious, the interior was well decorated, and the tables were bussed fast. I'll definitely be back, but will likely continue cringing at the cost they're charging.

This was my first time here and I've heard A LOT, so I had big expectations. To be totally honest, Big City Bread Cafe didn't quite live up to them. First off, the line was really long (it took us nearly 45 minutes to sit down), but you really can't blame a brunch place for being busy on a Sunday morning. The food was good-- not great. The eggs were super salty, the hot chocolate largely flavorless, and the coffee was average. The french toast was good though, as was the biscuit and grits. Overall it tasted like a good, middle-of-the-road breakfast place. The reason I opted for four stars instead of five was because it felt pretty overpriced for the quality and quantity of food they were giving. The food and coffee were decent, but not $16 after tax and tip decent.

I sat on this for a while - on my recent visit to Athens, we set aside some time to visit this place. Grab some excellent lunch, do some work with the free wifi. Unfortunately, this was mostly a blah experience all around. First, the line and traffic was insane. It took nearly an hour to order. I was hoping to get the 1/2 sandwich and soup combo, but it turned out that you couldn't get the sandwich I wanted (the black bean and sweet potato) as a half sandwich. Take a look at the picture I posted and explain why you can't order half?? Made no sense. So I had to order the whole and the soup on the side. The cup of soup pictured was $5. Also picked up a couple treats from the bakery case -- they were largely bland, and nothing to sing about. Overall, for the price (nearly $30 for lunch), the lack of workable service, and the largely unmemorable nature of the food, I honestly don't know why this place got such great reviews. Maybe we were there on an off day, but when I visit again, this won't be on my list of places I'm jumping to return to.

The pastries and baked goods are the real stars here for us. Our last trip came home with the best simple Christmas cookies and pastries. The staff is always pleasant and breakfast is very good.

Went in with a larger group for breakfast. Fast and friendly service with a great menu. Prices were good as well. Portions were large. The grits were some of the best I have had in a long time. Topped my coffee off for me on the way out the door. Highly recommend. All staff wore masks and were serious of preventing the spread of COVID.

While the Cornbread was firm, it was good. Unfortunately, they charged me for 3 sides, instead of just 2. So, because of this, I didn't give a voluntary tip. Fortunately, Chris had gotten some Kenyan Hot Sauce, which I tried on the CFS. And, it really helped with the taste. Sadly, they only 1, 10 oz bottle, which I let them have. I don't live far, but I've had a hard time finding spots to post up for a bit outside of Privi at Stonecrest. From my first visit, I felt so welcomed. The staff was friendly and the menu had plenty of options. I've been a couple of times now, and I have to admit--I haven't quite nailed my coffee order yet. That's completely on me though. The first time, I tried "Falling in Love with Biscoff." It looked amazing, and so did the pastries, so I added a slice of banana bread. That was the mistake--because it was so good that everything after just couldn't compete. The drink was way too sweet for me, especially after that banana bread. On my next visit, I decided to keep it simple with a matcha, but someone suggested adding blueberry syrup. Knowing I don't usually do flavors in my matcha, I went for it anyway. Again... on me! Even with my off-ordering luck, I love the vibe here. Tammy was in when I arrived, and she is such a light--it was a pleasure meeting her. I'll definitely be back.
