Cafe Racer is clearly a breakfast institution in Athens, especially among University of Georgia students. From the moment we arrived, it was obvious this place has built a loyal following. The setup is simple: place your order, grab a seat, and enjoy. What made me laugh was that many of the "tables" are surrounded by lawn chairs. It's not what I expected, but somehow it fits the laid-back personality of the place perfectly. There are a few traditional tables available, but the lawn-chair seating adds to the charm. I ordered the "My Pleasure" biscuit, which comes with fried chicken, egg, and cheese. The chicken was flavorful, and the sandwich was very tasty overall. The chicken was a little dry when combined with the biscuit, but not enough to keep me from enjoying it. It was still a satisfying breakfast and easy to see why it's a popular menu item. Looks like a chain, but fast and super tasty! I ordered one of each taco, as they appeared to be best value (just over $4 apiece). One had chorizo and egg, the Niño. It was good, mostly for the tangy avocado sauce upon it. Second, the tater taco, it was just too much potato and not much else. Ratio was off. Third, and I saved best for last: Pickleback. OMG. YALL. This crazy taco was insanely good. It was "mustard sausage" with a "breakfast sauce" and some dill pickles. When I say it was good... wuh. I'm a foodie, and I was blown away. So tangy, juicy and FULL of flavor. Perfect blend of fatty sausage, mustard, sweet sauce and tangy pickles. I can't say enough about it. They really hit it outta the park. The coffee was good. There was traffic when we were leaving, but that's out of Cafe Racer's control. The food came out relatively fast, and wow it was good. I was too greedy and we got two burritos when in reality I only needed one hehe. Mile High Burrito: can't go wrong with it. Simple and easy to eat! This Lil Piggy: definitely hits the mark upon first bite. The plantains adds a really sweet note to the burrito! A cute little drive thru shop with limited seating outdoors with plenty of parking around it! I parked and walked up to the window to order, and was greeted nicely, especially considering it was 7:30 in the morning. The go-nuts (donut holes) were so delicious!! About $5 per order, comes with an assortment of flavors. The texture was spongy with a little bounce in every bite. Not too sweet, but perfectly sweet enough. I also ordered a tater boi biscuit sandwich, which I was a little hesitant about because I don't like when biscuits are dry and stick to the roof of my mouth. This was definitely not that!! The biscuit had a good crunch on the outside and was moist on the inside. The jalapeño cream cheese added a nice contrasting texture and flavor. Stopped by before church, and because the drive through line was so long, we went to the window to order. The line at the window wasn't long, and drinks were fairly quick too. The drive through line would've have been bad either seeing it moved by pretty fast compared to my expectations. I paid around $7 for my dirty chai (16 oz), and it wasn't bad. Probably, one of the best ones I've had. Each donut is also $3.50 and it wasn't too sweet which is a bonus for me. Would recommend here for breakfast, but just know it's an outdoor cafe and do not have much seating. They also have dinner menu items like a burger. In Athens for the weekend and me and some friends were looking for some brunch and stumbled on Cafe Racer and honestly did not expect it to be this outstanding. First of all, it's primarily a drive through but they have a couple tables which was awesome because wait was short and it wasn't crowded!! We all ordered and had our food in 10 minutes which was the best thing ever because we're expecting to have to wait for brunch on a Sunday morning!!! I ended up getting a delicious latte with a biscuit with bacon egg and cheese and an espresso chocolate chip doughnut. This was stunning. Not only was it amazingly priced but it tasted amazing. 10/10!! I also tried their French fries from a food truck during the music festival and they were great. I was in Athens for the weekend with some friends for Athfest and we were looking for a brunch spot on our way out of town. We got a recommendation for Cafe Racer and decided to check it out. It's primarily a drive through/fast-casual establishment, but since we were early on a Sunday morning, we beat the rush and were able to snag one of their few tables! I split a vanilla latte and a cinnamon sugar donut with one of my friends and got my own Buddy biscuit. The food came out super quick which I appreciated. The latte was excellent and my biscuit was so flaky and rich and I loved the melty pepper jack cheese on it. The donut was the absolute star. I had never had a potato donut before but I'm a believer now!! It's similar to a cake donut (which I usually prefer), so this was delicious. I'd love to try out their lunch menu items as well. I drive past Cafe Racer all the time and have always wanted to try it and it didn't disappoint at all. I came on a Saturday at 10 A.M and they were still quick and efficient even with a line all the way around the building. The man taking my order was so nice and accommodating! He answered any question I had regardless of how busy or how many cars were behind me leaving me not feeling rushed or anxious which is always a plus. The woman who handed me my food was so kind as well and made the whole experience so nice. I ordered a "My Pleasure" which consists of fried chicken, egg, and pepper jack cheese. It was one of the best biscuits i've ever had. The biscuit itself was soft, airy, and buttery and overall just delicious. The chicken was seasoned well and it was juicy. The cheese was what set the whole sandwich off and was melted and falling off the sandwich. The hash brown was an average hash brown, it wasn't too greasy and it was cooked well and crispy which went well with the sandwich. The food is good. The doughnuts are our favorite and the burgers are very good. The price is not worth it. We could have gone out to a much better service restaurant for what was charged. This is going to be their downfall. Drive through, I get it, but the rest is definitely no thrills. The employees were friendly enough, but need to be cleaned up. It looks like they are ready to work in the yard not at a resturant. I believe the manager was working in a lawn chair in front the the reaturant or it was a homeless guy using the wifi. Couldn't tell. The way he was dressed was not a good example to employees or customers. A poor business model for a customer service fast food restaurant. read more

I got an iced coffee with pumpkin spice. Could not taste ANY spice nor anything from how strong the coffee was. I had another person get peppermint in their coffee and they couldn't taste that. DO NOT recommend the coffee. As for food, i got the cinnamon roll donut. It was good. Not too bad for a donut. I also got the This Lil Piggy burrito. It was also good. Nothing crazy or exceptional about it. For $12, it needed more for me. I can get better flavor and more in the burrito at chipotle. That was my 1 star. This was my first time at cafe racer, and I ordered an iced coffee with oat milk and vanilla flavor and the spicy my pleasure with no egg. The iced coffee wasn't the best but wasn't terrible. I thought that the biscuit wouldn't be too spicy, but ooofff that cajun seasoning was spicyyyy Although my nose was running while eating it, I enjoyed it a lot. OK, so we tried the doughnut it was a a cinnamon cake doughnut made with potato dough so it was not like your typical donut was kind of heavy and it really didn't taste that good so two bites that decision was made didn't finish it then we had a plain biscuit with strawberry jam it looked like a McDonald's biscuit, but didn't even taste as good as a McDonald's biscuit but the strawberry jam was delicious. My husband ordered, Becky sandwich and that was made with a biscuit and it really wasn't that good he wasn't pleased. I heard the worker telling people later on that there would be a long wait but we weren't told. Would've left if we hadn't already paid. After waiting 30 minutes I get in the car and open my burrito and discover they gave me the wrong one. Pulled pork and banana on a Saturday morning. Spent $15 to stand around for 30 minutes, be served the wrong food, and didn't get any acknowledgment of the wait time from any of the staff. People coming in and out of the truck licking popsicles.
