Everyone was friendly and professional over the phone and they even delivered the food to me which made the experience even better. This place is pretty solid for Mexican food in Spring Valley. I found it on Yelp and had my husband go grab food most of the time but I finally went in with him a few days ago so it's safe to say I've had them more than a few times to know the food's pretty legit. When we went in there was a man working the counter and it was no frills service. They accept card so that's helpful. To top it off they offer a salsa bar which is getting more rare nowadays since a lot of places are getting so cheap and greedy with their hot sauce or even limits you. Their habanero salsa is really good it has a good kick and is actually pretty spicy. The avocado salsa is usually pretty good but this last time it was sooo salty it was inedible. The roasted salsa was good and spicy as well. Lately the last few times their salsas have made my stomach hurt really bad but that won't stop me. We've ordered the California burrito, carne asada, supreme burrito, fish burrito, hard shell shredded beef tacos and they were all pretty good. Called in the machaca burrito on Tuesday morning expecting another delicious breakfast burrito from J&J, and was disappointed. Hot and fresh, but overall under seasoned meat, eggs, onions, and bell peppers. Excellent ratio of meat and eggs, but flavor was lacking. Salsas were delicious and saved my breakfast. Was in the area and stopped in for lunch. At first the menu prices looked to be in the high side of Mexican food, but my opinion was changed when the plates came out! We continue to come here for excellent food. The salsa bar alone is worth the price of admission! There's a new kid on the salsa bar today - habanero! I've always heard this fiery pepper had sweetness and fruity flavors, but I have always been hesitant to try it. I like heat, somewhat, but it has to balance everything else without blowing your palette. This salsa was exceptionally balanced, and I can taste the "fruitiness," and then BAM! My mouth went on fire like a spark turns into a roaring fire! It was fantastic! When my mouth recovered, a few minutes later, I wanted more. I can't believe it! The salsa bar, or better described as a hot sauce bar, has the usual green salsa, but the other two are both roasty and toasty. I don't know the exact names of them, but they're especially yummy! 1: The food was amazing! 2: When I first walked in, I didn't have any idea where to go to order, and there was a young lady wiping a table off, who saw me come in and I made eye contact with her a couple of times, but she kept cleaning. 3: The karaoke was so LOUD that I had no idea how the employees aren't all deaf, and couldn't understand how anyone could even place an order. 4: Another employee walked into the restaurant from outside, and I asked him how do I order, and he pointed me to the window at the back of the restaurant. 5: As a Complaint, I would state that the prices stated online DO NOT match what you PAY in the restaurant. EVERY SINGLE THING that I order in the restaurant was more expensive than the online prices, and I was shocked when I saw my receipt, and I didn't appreciate that at all. Also: initially, I was the only customer inside, and I waited for my food during the whole karaoke session for one. I'm not Hispanic, and have no idea what was said over the karaoke microphone when I was leaving, but three couples had shown up to eat, and whatever was said, caused all of them to turn and stare at me as I left, and I didn't appreciate that at all, what is the tables were turned, and I spoke in a different language that you didn't understand about you or towards you, would you like that? I stumbled upon this place on my way home. It's in the old Rafa's location. For dinner, I order the Adobada Burrito "mojado" or wet with a ladle of red enchiladas sauce right on top for $7.25, plus a dollar more for the sauce. The burrito was good, and so was the red sauce a top, which had a very good robust flavor and a bit of heat as well, but not much. The burrito came with a good amount of tender pork meat, but the meat was missing those traditional adobada flavors and color. It needed more of the red chili mixture, usually dried ancho or guajillo peppers, apple cider vinegar or vinegar, and garlic. I like adding a little Annatto or smoked paprika to aid in developing that deep red orange color and for added flavor. At any rate, it was good burrito and also came with chopped onions, cilantro, and guacamole which all very good. It could of used some tomatoes. The salsa bar rocked! All the salsas were terrific, especially the habanero sauce. It was hot, but packed with flavor. If you want tortilla chips, I think you have to ask for them. I did, and I got some. Good chips! However, it seems everything has changed since Covid and small businesses have suffered. I support local businesses and I plan on visiting here many more times. I ordered a Carne asada burrito and chips and salsa. I watched the cook put the tortialls into the oil! The service was very fast, and I had my order in less than 5 minutes. The burrito was hot. Not warm, but hot. The seasoning was excellent. The burrito was steak, pico, and guacamole. This was one of the best burritos I have ever had. My only quibble is there was no soda fountain, but they did not complain when I brought in my drink from outside. The food was good but the customer service was unwelcoming. The cashier at the front was on her phone the whole time and had her AirPods in.
