Had this place on my radar for a while and finally made it out to Bonita to try it out! They have both an inside and outside seating area and overall the service was nice throughout the meal. They have a lot of seafood options so there will be something for everyone. My partner asked for a breaded mahi mahi burrito which they were able to accommodate and it was moist and flavorful. The portion was pretty big too. I came with the mission to try a lot of the tacos so I ended up getting the fish, oyster, octopus, smoked tuna w/cheese, shrimp diabla, and the stingray. The bigger standouts were the octopus and the smoked tuna. I really loved the smoky flavor on the tuna which was my favorite. The stingray came shredded in some type of sauce that was different and pretty good. The oysters were fried but they were a bit soft/soggy on the taco. And the fish was good but nothing standout. Overall the variety of seafood you can get here is worth coming to check out. My only critique was the taco price vs amount of food. I ordered 6 tacos just for myself and I felt that I could have eaten a couple more. read more

This is the first time I don't have any photos of the food. Only because it looked and tasted so good. I got the class fish taco, octopus taco, and a shrimp ceviche tostada. Then washed it all down with a michelada. I've been here a handful of times and I don't recall ever having a bad experience. Servers and bartenders are always nice and attentive. Restaurant is fairly clean. Also, it's way more spacious compared to the original location down the street. It's a great place to have dinner with friends or even by yourself to grab a beer and watch the game. I highly recommend giving this place a try next time your in Bonita. read more

These tacos are delicious! Tried the garlic shrimp tacos, fish taco, and the chipotle shrimp taco (my fave!). These are street tacos, so definitely get 3-5, and try a few different types. They offer you lots of sauces to try on your tacos as well. The restaurant is kind of small but there is also some seating outside. Popped into TJ Oyster Bar since it has been on our list to try for a little while. Love a spot with parking and everyone was so friendly! I ordered the burrito with breaded mahi which comes with rice and a small salad. The rice was so refreshing with the salad! I could go back for the rice alone. The burrito was really good with the slaw. I also added cheese which I recommend. The mahi was so tender and juicy, it all came together very nicely. Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience from start to finish. After being seated, we waited about 10 minutes before anyone came to our table to take drink orders. Since no one had checked on us, we ended up ordering our drinks and food all at once. About 30 minutes later, only 2 of the 4 items we ordered arrived. One of the burritos was made incorrectly despite our request for no vegetables, so it had to be sent back. We then waited another 10 minutes before someone finally noticed how frustrated and disappointed we were and asked if anything was missing. The two fish ceviche tostadas we ordered never arrived. Instead, we were brought shrimp ceviche with no tostadas. We then had to wait yet another 10 minutes for the corrected burrito. The service was extremely slow, there was very little communication, and multiple items were either incorrect or never received. To make matters worse, we were still charged for everything even though we did not receive 2 of the 4 items we originally ordered. We just paid it to void waiting any longer as we were ready to get the heck out of there . Overall, the experience was frustrating and not worth the money. I will not be returning. read more

This little place sitting in a retail center in Bonita was a happy surprise. Great seafood! Inside is cozy and the bar works great for single seats. A lot of people were here for the lunch hour. We sat outside & enjoyed the " water wall". They took our cocktail & food order outside & service was excellent. Tacos are street size & yummy. I had an oyster and grilled octopus/ tacos - excellent. Heard a lot of good reviews so recommended coming here. 7 of us but a few have been and they had their faves. I tried their House Special Tostada and it was delicious. Plenty of seafood Also tried Chicharron Fish but not what I expected. It was more like Tater Tots Fish and I wouldn't order these again. But worth coming back to try other menu items. The small bar, not to be confused with its restaurant counterpart a block down, has some, if not, the best seafood in all of San Diego. I will stand on the hill that the grilled fish taco with their chipotle sauce is some of the best food you can get on SD. I prefer the bar as opposed to the restaurant for its more cozy atmosphere but it can get crowded sometimes. I highly recommend trying all their tacos and burritos. read more

My fish taco had a giant piece of fish in it the way I always expect it to be (with exception of last visit). I recently paid a visit to the original spot to redeem my experience at their newer location on East Palomar. They did not disappoint. All three of my tacos were on point. A great local spot in Bonita to get fresh seafood! Located in a small complex with free parking, you order at the register and find yourself a seat. They have both counter top seating as well as small tables, even some outdoor tables! We tried their fish taco, oyster taco, octopus taco and half order of smoked tuna fries. The fish taco had a nice thick portion of fish that was crispy on the outside and juicy/moist on the inside. Add some of their special house red sauce and it's golden! Their octopus taco was the best! Texture and taste were on point and it tasted so fresh! It came out piping hot and fresh with a lovely rich buttery garlic flavor. Their smoked tuna fries were also solid; the fries are skinny fries and fried to perfection. Service was prompt and friendly and sweet! Everything is good and consistent every time I visit. The only time I'm in the area is when I go pay respects to my mother at glen abbey. Haven't found anything that replicates the taste and quality in Hawaii. Their salsas are perfect addition to their tacos. I know you can find better cheaper options at food trucks elsewhere in San Diego but for this area, this is my go to. Cute hole in the wall spot great for seafood tacos! My friend took me here and I was not disappointed. I ordered 2 fish tacos, beans, and rice...absolutely delicious! This restaurant is located in the shopping center and tucked away next to the barber shop. If you hit McDonald' you've passed it. It was 90 degrees in SD so I was craving some seafood. The shopping center had plenty of parking. Went there Saturday afternoon and wasn't too busy was able to sit on a stool. They have seats inside for two ppl as well as outside. I ordered the shrimp chipotle taco which was delicious!! The chipotle sauce was so gooood, also ordered the fish taco that came with cabbage, I ordered some oysters, they were okay not my favorite, I also ordered a cooked shrimp tostada, it was so goood! It had a sauce with onions, tomatoes and cilantro, I even asked for extra tostadas because their portion are huge. They have beer and micheladas, soft drinks and Jamaica. Why did I take a bus-train-cab-walk trip of over 2 hours from Point Loma? Stingray taco! This is a unique item, served in machaca-type formulation. When you enter the small restaurant, you pay at the front and receive a number. They will bring out the food to you. There's seating inside and outside. I chose to sit outside. The workers do check in on you, asking if you want any limes or sauce. They have 3 sauces in the bottles, green, red, and Chipotle. I prefer the Chipotle sauce, since it's smokey and has a bit of a spice. I didn't wait too long for the tacos. They stuff the tacos, with so much protein! There would be octopus or shrimp falling off, everytime I took a bite of the tacos. I ordered the octopus taco and the shrimp diabla taco. My favorite taco was the octopus taco, which was soft. Whatever white sauce they used on the octopus taco enhanced the flavor of the octopus. I wasn't really a fan of the spices for the shrimp diabla taco, but it was still tasty. There's always a line out the door,8 appreciate the staff's urgency. I didn't even have to ask for sauces. They gave it to me before my food came out. The space is very small, no room for strollers. Seating is available inside and outside, but like I said, space is limited. The star of the show was the fish taco and fried calamari. I love the sauce the calamari came with. The oysters were ok, not great. But still was enough to satisfy my craving. I wish I had horse radish or vinegar to add.
