We reached out to at least 6 different companies to have annual cleaning done on our roof. Exactly two responded. J&J roofing came back with a quote that was half as expensive as the other company. Not only were we able to quickly schedule a cleaning, but the crew also that arrived was fantastic. They arrived right at the scheduled time, laid down tarps to cover my garden and did a fantastic job. I really appreciated that they took the extra time to clean up the bits a debris that came off the roof. We plan to have them return in the fall to install guards on our gutters and again next spring for a cleaning or at least an inspection. I've already referred them to our neighbors as well. The moss on my roof was getting heavy. A friend of mine suggested that I call J&J Roof Cleaning Services. I was very impressed at how good of a job they did. They covered the shrubs that were near my house to keep the moss debris off of them, cleaned the roof without using a pressure washer, treated the shingles to slow the return of the moss, and did a great job of cleaning up the moss debris that such a project leaves on the ground and it is now cleaner than before they arrived. My roof now looks better than it has for several years. Their price was very reasonable for the amount of effort that they made in doing a good job. They are a small, locally owned company that deserves our support. I will be calling them again in a couple of years to prevent moss from getting so bad. read more

We received a complaint from our HOA about moss on our roof in late summer and since we have an old spanish style tile roof, it's a bit tricky to clean it. Power-washing was a big no-no. In the past we had it dry-brushed, but the company who did that no longer offered that service so we had to figure out a different way of getting the job done. We tried multiple places before we found J&J on yelp...one place did an assessment, gave us a quote, and then on the day of the appt came out and informed us their air pressure wasn't strong enough to do it. Another place didn't show on the day they were supposed to. And we had a close call with a third company we looked up on the Washington state department of labor and industries site to verify they were licensed and bonded only to find that they were neither. Enter J&J Roof Cleaning Services. Jose was professional, knowledgeable, and helpful right from the first. Because we were under a time constraint, he squeezed us in and did a great job! We are pretty particular when it comes to people helping us with house projects, and we could not be more pleased! Jose provided a free estimate after a previous inspection of our home (he was appropriately masked for Covid). He put us on his schedule, keeping in touch with us by email. Very efficient! He and his team arrived on time on the agreed-upon day, with two trucks - each very organized and well equipped. Jose and his two workers were all very friendly, kept appropriately social distanced, and worked very hard. When roof was spotless and had the moss repellant applied, the three of them each worked very hard to impeccably clean up the entire yard and front of the house. I have a large cedar shake roof that needed to be cleaned. House is about 3700 ft^2 + 750 ft^2 garage and the roof is steep with several dormers, so maybe approaching 3000f^t of roofing. I've had the backpack guys up there the past few years and they were not getting the job done. Our roof was pretty messy with tons of needles and junk + little saplings growing out all over the place. There seem to be two main schools of thought on getting a cedar roof cleaned: Power washing and blowing with compressed air. Consensus seems to be that power washing gives you the "as new" look but does a fair amount of damage to the roof and requires treatment when you are done. Talked to several companies and it sounds like this is best for younger roofs. Compressed air (not backpack leaf blowers) remove all of the debris/junk from the roof but leave the appearance largely the same. This gets the roof tip-top from a functional perspective but doesn't do a lot cosmetically. With my roof being on the order of 20 years old, I wanted the compressed air blow. I also got the "clean brite" treatment to kill moss/algae and gutter cleaning. Jose responded pretty quickly to my initial inquiry and we talked about the project on the phone. He came by a few days later and then emailed me a bid. The bid was very complete and listed out the work and materials that he would use. J&J was not the cheapest bid I received for compressed air cleaning but also not the most expensive. Given Jose's knowledge during our conversation, I decided to go with J&J. The crew of 3 (including Jose, the owner) showed up on the agreed day and got to work. The whole job took about 5 hours and I have to say that my roof looks very clean. Looking up from the ground it looks like they got most if not all of everything off the roof. All of the gaps between shakes appear to have been carefully blown out and all of the junk is gone.. They did a good job covering plants/beds with tarps in advance and an equally good job cleaning up the debris and washing everything off before they left. One detail from the bid I appreciated is that Jose has a price for routine cleaning that is about 1/3 of the price for a messy roof with treatment (which I had). I'll be having him out again after fall to get the roof cleaned again and kept in great condition. read more
