Update! When I let him know I was disappointed in his unprofessional behavior he texted me back angrily and threatened me that he wouldn't finish the job after I already paid for the majority. On the day of the appointment I find out while he's working that he can't deal with my old chain link fence therefore he can't finish stump grinding. ...The thing is that I had already discussed this with another representative who first came out to look at my yard and he clearly said that as long as I didn't care for the integrity of the fence then he could deal with those 2 sections himself. I told him to go ahead and communicated with my neighbor to remove the wooden fence on their side. We plan to put a shared fence in the future so have to grind the stump in between our yards. What happened? The teenager had not communicated those expectations with the owner, the owner expected the teenager to be responsible after he was already a no show on the day of the appointment, and my neighbor is pissed because they took down the fence but the stump is still there. They feel they lost their privacy for no reason. They want me to finish so they can put the fence up again. As for me? I paid for the majority of the job and now need to find someone else. Unfortunately am unable to review based on any work done, so this review is based on the horrible communication received from this company. I had contacted J&J stump removal for an estimate and agreed upon a date and time for them to take a look. On the agreed upon date nobody arrived or contacted me about missing the date or attempting to reschedule. The next day I had reached out in response to their original email asking if they still wished to give an estimate. The day after that I received a very casual response basically saying sorry, I'll be there tomorrow. Unfortunately, the day they wished to come I was unavailable, but they did not wait for my confirmation, so I just left the gate open, with directions to the stump on my front door. They arrived on that day, looked around and left a business card. After 5 days of no contact from them I reached out asking for an estimate. I guess they did not remember my job and asked - "Well if I was there [how] come I didn't give you a bid LOL" Needless to say I won't be bothering to follow-up anymore. Just a waste of 3 weeks of my time. If their communication, scheduling and organization is this bad, I don't know if I would trust them with an actual project with any kind of set timeline. read more

I hired J&J to grind down a stump in my front yard. I told them I was going to need to plant a tree in the same spot and he assured me that his grinder went down 17 inches so it shouldn't be a problem. Today when we went to dig the hole we spent about 4 hours digging out the stump and roots. It was ground down ten inches max and the roots were virtually untouched. These guys might be fine if you just need the stump ground for aesthetic purposes but if you need a stump removed completely I would look elsewhere. read more

He not only gave me a great quote, but then did the work the very next minute! Very unprofessional. He was working about 2 - 4 feet from my RV and failed to cover it. Wood chips and scraps all over the side and on my slab. Then argued that he only needed to clean a 6 X 6 section of the RV even though the entire side was messed up. Normally not as big a deal, but I had just washed it the week before. Also noticed my cable went out while he was working. Comcast came out and found two lines severed where he was working. Repair guy said it should have been obvious that he cut them.
