Stopped by their store to get a topper door fixed because it leaks. I was told that they would get a price on the parts and call me. Stopped by 3 weeks later, didn't know what I was talking about. Asked to order the parts to get it fixed before winter. They said they would call me. Never received any call. I'm done with this place. I have bought a new topper from them years ago, it was nice. This is why I went to them again, but their service now sucks big time. read more

Sorry to say but I was disappointed that they failed to step up and help when I discovered some rough surface like over spray on the new ARE truck bed tonneau cover, I showed the owner the over spray area but he offered no assistants in making it right. I took my truck bed cover to Zimmerman Autobody and they buffed it out for $ 81.00. I took the buffing bill to JJ Toppers and he refused to cover the expense of the new topper cover that was put on my truck with over spray on it. My advice is to go some place else for your truck needs. read more

Be aware (as J&J Toppers is) there is a good chance with newer Toyota Tacoma's and ARE toppers you will have a leak. It's a design issue on the Tacoma, one that the owner and installer are fully aware of but failed to inform me until after I spent $2200 on the topper, they installed it, sent me home, and the first rain I had puddles in the bed of my truck. As soon as I noticed the leak (about a week after the install) I immediately drove it over and they spent two hours trying to fix it all the while blaming the truck. In the end it still leaks with minimal water at low pressure being sprayed on the top of the topper. The owner who only got involved after the installer gives up tells me "well toppers aren't submarines". And at least 4 times blames it on the truck again and swears he is going to quit selling the toppers for Tacomas but at the same time says they will have to call ARE and see if they have a solution even though he admitted multiple times that everyone is aware of the problem (except the unknowing customer). I told the owner I had a solution, take the topper off, and give me my money back. He laughed out loud and said well that isn't going to happen that's a special order. So that's how we left it, they are calling ARE and I'm deciding whether I want the hassle of filing formal complaint. Sadly, no where in this interaction was there an apology or any indication of any acceptance of responsibility on the part of J&J Topper. It was very obvious I was screwing up their Friday afternoon by expecting my new topper not to leak. (What a mess it would have been if I would have bought the $500 carpet kit they tried to up sale me). Please don't think I'm over reacting when I write this, I've bought at least one, maybe two other toppers from this business. ( did I mention when I initially showed up to order the topper the price was $200 higher than the quote over the phone. When I questioned the price increase I was told the factory price had gone up but they would honor the two day old quote, I probably should have walked out the door then) I do not know if it's the same owner that I've purchased from in the past but I do know I'm the customer and I spent a lot of money for a product that J&J Toppers were fully aware may leak on my model of truck. Buyer beware. I suggest when you pickup your truck with the new topper you have them spray it down for you to prove it doesn't leak before you pay your balance. read more
