Always amazing!! I fly home from Arizona to just have J&Js and then fly home!! That's how much I love it.

The pizza is mediocre, and the setting is divey, but they have quarter-powered pinball machines, and a real 80s / Ready Player One Vibe, so plenty of imaginary nostalgia for me, and plenty of fun for my son who is too young to be nostalgic. Update to previous review where I felt the pizza was nice, but bland. I had neglected to mention the wife absolutely loves their large salads and dressings which make it her go to place for salads. They also have an ice cream bar which uses a very good brand, which they also sell in prepackaged gallons. Tried the pizza again and it was just 'OK' while the teen boys love it when they visit. The price of pizza everywhere vs the abundance of varieties of canned pizza sauce and dough now at every store has me making my own at home for about three bucks each. Very good food, great prices. We like to call our order ahead for pick up and bring it home to eat. There isn't a lot of room to eat there and in the winter it's cold because the door is always opening. You also avoid the wait if you call your order in ahead of time. Also no one will judge how much of their ice cream you sit and eat after your meal if you eat at home. The ice cream is so good, make sure you take a gallon or two home for the freezer! They usually have young kids (teenagers) working but they are very respectful and surprisingly efficient for their age! We are always happy and full. If you eat there it can be a bit of a wait, they do a lot of carry out orders. read more

Always get good food from there and there is rarely a long wait when i go to pick it up. never had a mess up on my order either besides one and it was a delivery on a busy night. but they made it right and gave me a coupon for my next order! read more

Pizza here is good. My kids like it, but they eat anything. I do enjoy the great service they provide though. We've tried the sausage thin crust and it was tasty, I guess. I'm from Chicago so it's hard to please me with pizza. I'd definitely return the next time I've procrastinated all day and don't have dinner ready. read more

J & J's Pizza Shack is my kids favorite pizza- hands down! We always go for the party size cheese pizza (they fight over the corners) and several orders of fried cauliflower. They serve Valpo Velvet Ice Cream there that the kids think can't be beat. The delivery has always been excellent and the quality first-rate. This has nothing to do with covid because it's always been this way. You order it because they deliver and open late. Wings gave us food poisoning, marinara sauce in the cup is straight from the fridge, half the time they forget an item, pizza is a soggy mess. One girl even to avoid going back to the store gave us someone else's sodas to make up for it. But we keep ordering anyways. read more

We ordered for pickup on our road trip through Indiana and were not disappointed! The pizza took as long as they estimated ~35 minutes at 9pm. We ordered a medium kitchen sink and it fed 2 adults for 2.5 meals. It was a solid 2-3 inches of toppings and had plenty of meat. Almost always a good pizza and the drivers make me happy. Very kind and helpful. The people on the phone are always sweet and I never have to tell them my address. They have my past orders, so if I forget what we ordered last time, they can tell us. Very eager to fix any mistakes and always hot when we get it delivered to our home. I am in no way a pizza expert, but my pizza would have to be really crappy for me to give it a bad review. We usually order roast beef sandwiches, which are always HUGE and tasty. Fries are regular fries, nothing exciting about them. Sometimes order the kitchen sink pizza which is a big costly, but fills us up and we have leftovers for the next day. I would give zero stars since we did not even get to taste the food. We drove out of the way to stop here for food. Got there at 8:30, they close at 10pm. The male working the counter saw us approach the menu looking at it before ordering did not say anything to us. I downloaded the yelp app just so I could leave a review about this place. This was just about the worst dinner I've ever had to wait 45 minutes for. 45 minutes and $28 for food I could get from a public middle school cafeteria in 3 minutes. The fries were stale, the chicken was gummy, the salad was just iceberg lettuce with diced tomato slapped on top. I ordered honey mustard sauce for my chicken and they gave me a packet of salad dressing. They also failed to disclose that one of their dishes contained meat. My kids love this pizza. they definitely don't skimp on the cheese. My favorite item though is the breadsticks. Unlike Pizza Hut, The breadsticks or soft and come with some very good marinara sauce and are worth the extra money to get . Also we live relatively outside of town and they still deliver to our area. This is my most favorite Pizza in the Area. I love their sauce. Great Grande cheese. Yum. It reminds me of pizza from Tivoli Tap Pizza or Ricochet Lounge Pizza growing up in Gary and Merrillville. Still looking for the exact taste Pizza from my past. JJs come closest. I don't think crust is homemade though? Not sure. Worthy of five stars though. The only thing I don't like is on the Party size or deep dish pizza, the edges of the crust is flipped over on top. I always ask for them to cut off the part of the crust that flips over.
