What a gem! I am so pleasantly surprised by the food choices in the Valpo area and I will be back, but I needed something light before some ice skating and the Rolling Stonebaker was in the perfect spot (THANKFULLY). I love a great wood fire pizza and this place is excellent. Small with a few tables, but filled with so many choices for both pizza, other items, and drinks. Love that they have a great spot to sell out of a window to those visiting the park area for events (SMART). The choices for pizzas had me wanting all of them, but I finally settled on the Sticky Finger and the Joker. I was so impressed with the Sticky Finger that I still think about those flavors all together. It was a perfect fit for my palate and I loved it. The Joker was also great and the hubby loved it. We had a peach old fashioned to share (needed that before busting our butts on the ice rink, liquid courage) and the staff was excellent with keeping our waters filled and making sure we were well taken care of. Such a cool place! You can order at the window or dine in. There are about 4 tables & some counter seating. Tiny & cute decor. Friendly staff too! Huge stone pizza oven that they make so many delicious menu items in. We ordered the mixed greens salad with dried apricots, goat cheese & almonds. It came with a balsamic & oil dressing. The container was too small for the salad. It was difficult to add dressing without losing half the salad. I shook up the dressing, but the balsamic vinegar was stuck to the container. They gladly gave me another dressing. Pizza was great & so was the crispy crust. We got the roasted corn pizza. So delicious. Fresh cilantro & jalapeños. It tasted like the herbs & veggies were just picked. It's small, so sized for 1 unless you get more to eat. The key lime triffle was so good. Homemade whipped cream. I have walked by this place countless times. Finally looked at their menu & got a special of their fig papa only without the cheese. It was SO good. It was the perfect bit of sweet & savory. Their vegan pizza is also quite delicious. It has a wide variety of toppings that make it so tasty. My husband got their Philly bread special and loved it so much. Unfortunately he went to get it again & it wasnt available. But we will be keeping an eye out for it! He got the potato Pizza & enjoyed it. Only downside is that it is on super thin crust. Not really a save for later thing since it makes it more soggy unless heated in an air fryer. The service is good too. They answer questions and are nice. The employees were very sweet, very small indoor seating area, however it was kinda too warm inside to sit and eat. I have to say I was really disappointed based on how good of review this place had. The pizza was absolutely not good. The crust was like a stale flour tortilla with burnt edges. We had a pepperoni, sticky fingers one and the bbq pork pizza. I would honestly have to say this would be on the list of worst pizzas I've had. The prices were also way too high for such a small portion of food. They also charge for tap water. I love finds like this. Totally unexpected but absolutely delightful! When my husband said he wanted pizza I was a bit disappointed. We were in a city we had never been before and I was looking forward to a culinary adventure and then he says pizza...ugh! But then we find this cute little place and a culinary adventure we had!! The inside is small and cozy and our waitress was the kindest young lady! We didn't order drinks but it was a nice surprise to see that was an option. We started with the meatballs and let me tell you, there were delicious! It was a very generous serving and we ended up taking some of them to go. The pizza is fun and creative, but there's also the familiar toppings available for those less adventurous. We settled on one with bacon jam because hello, how delish does that sound? I love coming here! Their pizza is so good and comes out super quick. I've had the Sticky Fingers, Choke-n-shroom, and Italian Queen. They also have some really good triffles that are often featured at the Valpo events concerts. The pistachio and chocolate one was good and rich. I just had their strawberry rhubarb triffle. It was so good! The tang from the strawberry rhubarb compote complimented the sweet cream/cookie crumbles. They are in a prime location, which is great. We had a delightful server. Having not live In the area, she welcomed Us in and gave us some suggestions. She did not lead us in the wrong direction. Everything was delicious. We had the stoner bites and the featured pizza. It was out of the box, fig jam, Gorgonzola and prosciutto. Really good, thin crust, crispy, chewy cheesy, awesome sauce pizza. If you like a thin crispy crust with some char and flavorful toppings, this is a must. The pepperoni was exactly what you want a classic pizza to be. The sticky fingers was also excellent, the bacon jam made for a nice twist (I would add jalapeños next time, some heat would be a killer with that combo!) Stopped in after a chiro appt. Husband LOVES wood fired pizza and didn't know this existed. So... here we are. The menu looks fantastic. And their drinks looks delish! I'd return, for sure! We started wjth the Holla Back Poppers. Because we live jalapeño's and spicy stuff. So good! And wow! The spice! Which made this app even better!! I had the Isla Mujeres drink (I believe). Small place with amazing food and drink. I had the Potato Head Pizza. It was a thin crust pizza with cheese, potatoes, and onions on it. It was so good. I also had the Warpigs Foggy Geezer. If you like a beer that has a hint of fruitiness to it, you will like this one. I did. There was a grapefruit taste to this one. This place has a friendly staff willing to answer questions. The prices are reasonable. There are not a lot of tables inside, very little room. But you can walk up to the window and order take out. Cute quaint place that I plan on going to again. read more

"This review is for Tuesday May 19, 2020" I originally wrote this on the 19th, but realized I wrote for the wrong location, and wanted to correct my mistakes by putting it here. So yesterday my Lady and I decided to take a drive from Hammond to Valparaiso and see if a restaurant we love getting Creole dishes from was open. Sadly found out they were closed permanently due to Covid19. While driving around seeing who was open, and what was new in the area. We happen to Find this place, The Rolling Stonebaker, decided if they were to be open during the week we would make a drive back out to try them out. Well come to find out they are closed on Mondays, but hey they were open for today (Tuesday to Sunday, unless this changes in future from when I write this). So These are the pizza we ordered, so we could give them a try: The Purple Pig Smoked Pork Shoulder | BBQ | Mozzarella/ Provolone Blend | Topped w/ A Tangy Purple Slaw. Strawberry Fields Strawberry, Basil, (and I may have to update review on other ingredients later) Eggman Roasted Garlic | Rictta | Prosciutto di Parma | Mozz/Prov Blend | Wood-Fired Egg | Arugula | Olive Oil | Parmesan | Balsamic Reduction First off just to say it out of all 3 of these pizzas my lady and I made an agreement that the Purple Pig is one of our favorites. It packs flavor. We loved mainly how the BBQ and the Smoked Shoulder go hand and hand with one another. The flavors are both sweet and tasty, what gives it even more flavor in my opinion is the purple cabbage they put on this pizza, it is a nice touch. Second we loved the different flavor you have with the Eggman pizza. We have never seen a pizza with a fried egg, but we were not going to judge it without trying it at lease. I got to say putting a fried egg on this pizza gives it just the right flavor. Third, there are two opinions here. My Lady loved this because the strawberry and basil as well other ingredient, to her she was able to taste all the flavors, but myself I honestly did not taste all the flavors, but it might be because with me I had tried all the other pizzas first and it inferred with my taste buds a bit. I guess I just like to eat my strawberries by them self. As far as each pizza goes, unlike other establishments these guys use a stone oven, with wood grilled (I think that is the proper wordage to use maybe). Unlike other places that use a pizza oven, I think Stone ovens give the pizza a different taste. A taste I prefer over other pizza places. Another thing I do want to point out, because of how things are now with Covid, and businesses slowly opening back up, one the gentlemen that took my lady's order, kindly brought the pizzas out to our car and when I asked if he could put the boxes of pizza in the back, buckled them in for us too, safety first right :) He was very nice and polite. Awesome Customer Service in our book! We tend to take random drives out to Valparaiso from time to time. So we will definitely be back to order either one these or a different pizza to try. read more

Delicious fresh pizzas and interesting flavor combos! The corn pizza with cilantro and cotija cheese is my favorite thing on the menu.

My wife and I went here a while ago on a double date because we generally love downtown Valparaiso restaurants. The building is nice, but very small. Not only are there probably only half a dozen tables, but the tables are only a couple feet wide. The boyfriend of the other couple and I both got the sticky fingers pizza. We were both captivated at the sight of "sweet and spicy bacon marmalade." When the pizza came out, mine was a little burnt. I know it's a brick oven, which made it taste better, but I would have preferred it without burnt crust. I will say that both of us men thought our pizzas were really good. All the ingredients blended well, and the brick-oven taste was delicious. My biggest complaint was the size. It was a six-inch pizza (maybe a little bigger) on the thinnest crust I've seen in my life. I'm relatively thin, but I eat a lot, and the other guy we were with is a larger dude, so both of us were still starving after having finished our meals. I think we both enjoyed it, but we each paid $12 for what felt like even less food than a conventional appetizer. My wife got the Your Mom Goes to College, and she really enjoyed it, though it wasn't really my favorite. She and the other girl both enjoyed the restaurant, and I think would rate it higher, but my rating is for the man who needs to eat quite a bit for a meal: be prepared to buy two pizzas for yourself (and spend $25) or be prepared to leave hungry. If your appetite is usually on the smaller side, I'm sure this will be a fine place for you, and you'll enjoy it. Overall, I do like the food, and would gladly eat it again, just not for the price. read more

The pizza overall is good. It's not as amazing as a lot of people hype it up to be. It also can take 20+ minutes depending on if they're running behind. Personally, I tried the pepperoni one and it was decent. It's definitely not my favorite style of pizza or pizza place but it's not horrible. I also think it is a little more expensive than a pizza it's size should be. It costs $9 for a pretty small pizza (maybe 10 inches)- It would probably only feed two hungry people. read more

Easily one of the best pizzas I've ever ate. Its a thin crust with so much flavor. They have so many unique kinds of pizza. My only regret was not getting another pizza, because when I went back to order another one, the line was so long. We had the Italian Queen and the Stoner Bites (Garlic Knots). Wow, what a great little place in downtown Valpo. Came to see my son for family weekend at Valpo University and went to Rolling Stonebraker for a late Saturday lunch with my son wife and daughter. We ordered a mushroom cobbler, a stoner bites and two pizzas for four of us and they all were FANTASTIC! Stoner bites are a mandatory order item every time. They come with Parmesan cheese sprinkles and covered in garlic butter. The pizzas are crispy and delicious. I am almost downgraded to a four star review because of the seating (tiny place) but the food was too good to not give this place a five star review. read more
