We have been clients of J&L for over 25 years. When Jeff & Lynn ran the business it was outstanding. Unfortunately they sold the business and customer service is nonexistent. We have been waiting since March to have our grass cut. We've gotten one excuse after another. "It's been raining too much" We don't have enough help ". It's ridiculous!! We also asked them last fall to give us a plan to replace our front bushes. Instead they ripped out our mature shrubberies and have left the front of our house bare. It's a shame that they have ruined an excellent established business. We will be looking elsewhere for our landscaping needs. read more

I had 3 yards of dirt delivered and found multiple pieces of glass shards mixed in while I was sifting through it. After speaking with the company, they dismissed my concerns, not to mention the fact that I have multiple dogs who love to dig and who could seriously get hurt. I was told that I would not get refunded and that I would be charged for them to pick up their dirt that they claimed was sifted through. Can't vouch for the plants or anything else because I've never tried that, but they have the best, and cheapest mulch around. No dyes and several different options to choose from (dark pine, light pine, Hemlock, etc.). Really cheap if you pick it up yourself, but they also deliver by the yard. read more

Have been going for years because we are very close and never had any issues with the previous owners. I spent a lot of money there. The new owners seem very nice for sure but the people at the desk have no idea what they are doing. The prices exploded with no good customer service to back it up. My last experience there kept me speechless. I ordered gravel (like I did before) and I was not delivered what I've ordered. They asked me to pay extra for the one that I wanted in order for them to come back and pick up their mistake. I was flabbergasted and said clearly that I won't be coming back after 3 years of bying everything there from indoor plants to shrubs, rosebuds, soil, fertilizer, accessories, pots... They absolutely didn't care. Very disappointed! The 2 stars is really to emphasize that everything I bought for 3 years is still thriving indoor and outdoor. read more

3/23-- aggressive driver in J&L pickup takes umbrage that he has to wait 45 second to take a left turn into a Seasons Corner Market, despite the fact that 4 of us are backed up in the right turn lane at a red light as the front car is not turning. Says I am "not too bright" and calls me a "liberal a$$hole", gets aggressive. I'm liberal because I drive a SUV with 2 small kids in the back? Perhaps I'm not a genius, but I don't try to provoke road rage incidents, and I'm bright enough to know that if you're an aggressive driver, driving a pickup with the name of your company emblazoned on the side, there's a good chance that someone will notice.... if this is indicative of their attitude towards people, no wonder the reviews here are as a bad as they are. read more

From Christmas trees dying early, over charging for product 15% higher to the nearest vendor and not even returning calls requesting services! Beautiful flowers and plants here. I've been coming to them for a few years now and I've gotten all sorts of things from them. The service I've received has always been amazing! They treat their customers well and joke with us. The flowers I've gotten here always last me all summer and the all season ones I have are still beautiful as ever! This is the second review I write for them and honestly, this is how I feel : the truth is I have been a customer of J&L Landscaping for 3+ years now and recently ( I say that because its been since they don't have any employees and just have the husband do ALL the work) the quality in their work has gone done tremendously. When I first started with them, it was great! Nice customer service and she had employees that would do a decent job. But, then I was told they weren't hiring any more employees due to issues they I guess were having and were having they themselves only do ALL the work which is fine but, it shows. ONE person/man doing however many lawns they do per day per week per month is A. LOT for anyone. The grass gets cut but there are small details that have been missed. For instance, the corner of the edge of my fence or underneath a mistakenly left pallet on the grass among other things. Additionally, when we first started with J & L Landscaping, the removal or well maintaining of the weeds that of course grow on the fence was included in our quote by their employee. All of sudden, whenever they decided to no longer have employees (I'm going by what I was told) it no longer is?? My thing is, if your employee includes it in the pricing they should honor it. When I mentioned it, I was told I'd have to pay extra?? There are just so many things wrong with that. Additionally, I asked for services to trim my front bush and I have been ghosted. No reply, nothing. Three days ago (Dec 17th, 2019), I was told they were going to come for my yard and they didn't plus they did not inform me that they could not. On occasion I have had to see if they were coming due to them forgetting and so I contact them through text or phone because I guess they get busy. Which is fine but, letting their customers know would be nice. I finally get a text from them Wednesday (December 18, 2019) saying that they no longer will be servicing my property?? Gee, thanks. In the end, I do hope the best for them I don't know what their going through or what the issue is but it just seems like they are doing more that what they can handle and do not want to hire help for fear of "loosing money". Based on their performance now, I would not recommend them. Know that I am writing this based on months and months of continuous work that I see only one person do. This is not something that "just happened". It has been an issue that like all things, started small and grew and when I tried to address it... I feel as though it was not. I found J&L when I lived in RI. I recently moved around the corner from them and plan on them being my go to place for all of my landscaping needs. Both Jeff and Linda have been very nice to my wife and I. Any question I have about lawn care, shrubs, fertilizer, flowers, you name it, Jeff is always there to educate me and point me in the right direction. Both Jeff and Linda are knowledgeable and competent when it comes to what they do and I trust their advice. Their prices are reasonable compared to other nurserys and Jeff always goes out of his way to help me out which translates to great customer service and because of that I'll spend my money here all day long! I come here for supplies for my garden Koi ponds. The staff is fairly nice and very laid back. They have some large bins full of koi, and let you scoop your own. They also have a lot of fairly-priced water plants and a bunch of food and pond supplies. If I could give zero stars, I would in a heartbeat. I have nothing to add that hasn't already been said about J&L Landscaping in Seekonk. I spent a lot of money there the first year I moved to Rehoboth and every time I went there, they acted like they'd never seen me before (despite the fact that I frequented the place more times than I can count, and ordered countless yards of mulch, and bought hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of plants). At some point, one can take just so much of a rude, indifferent, dismissive, impatient attitude, so after the first year of using them, and having such negative experiences with their attitude (like I was doing them a favor, which they didn't appreciate, by my being there) I decided never to return. So perhaps it is like the other reviewers say, that it's the landscapers they care about servicing, and not some woman who wants to beautify her property. read more

I will never buy anything from these people again. After spending nearly $1,000 on trees that were delivered and installed by them, we could not get them back to look at 2 trees that died. We spent 3 months watering every day and caring for them as instructed to be told they couldn't help it if we didn't care for them right!! Their warranty is up to their discretion. The owner Linda was rude, abrasive and unresponsive to our questions. It took them weeks to come out, check the trees and then not call us to discuss what the issue with them is. When I called to complain, she spent 10 minutes lecturing me on how busy she was and re-reading the "guarantee" which doesn't really exist. Do NOT use this company. Do NOT waist your time placing an order expecting to get what you wanted. They will say it will be in on a Wednesday after they write up a slip to order it (it was placed on a Saturday) only to find out they "no longer have such item" or "the size you ordered didn't come in this week". What's the point of writing up an order, being told it will be in on a Wednesday, taking time out of your valuable day to pick it up only to find out the person at the front desk can't find your slip amongst the 150 others on numerous clipboards? Then you are told to call Linda, which I do, and ask what happened to your order and she gives you every excuse in the books and then she HANGS UP THE PHONE on you! Now you've just waisted a week's worth of your valuable time when you could have gone to a more reputable business to get what you needed. read more

I've been going here for a number of years for my koi pond needs and have always received great customer service. I went there today to pick up some pond chemicals with my 3 and 6 year old daughters. My 6 six year old picked out an Easter plant for my wife and we proceeded to checkout. During the checkout process, a woman came out and gave both my daughters little Easter plants, for free. They were and still are so excited and cannot wait until mommy gets home to show her. My daughters are always recognized and treated well when I go to J&L. After reading the other reviews, I do see how people feel that they are always in a rush. Unfortunately I didn't read reviews first, before contracting with this business for soil. woman who took my order in person was delinquent , not knowledgable, and not clear on product and delivery. I asked several times to clarify the price, truck delivering and location to dump soil. Truck was too wide by 2" ,so delivery didn't take place. Owners both were rude,blaming me for failed delivery, wanted to charge extra even knowing I was bound to receive less soil,( smaller truck) I received no money back,for smaller amount of soil, owner L was unprofessional,even suggesting I should take responsibility for their failed delivery. No rating could be low enough considering my experience. I'm waiting now ,week later for less soil,will it come? We were extremely dissatified with J&L Landscaping. Their customer service skills leave much to be desired. We tried to get some quotes for different services, and they never followed through with them. Both my husband and I tried on multiple occasions to contact them to find out when they would be coming to treat our lawn, and the woman who answers the phone was incredibly rude. I had a terrible experience with L from J and L. She was mean and thought that her 35 years in the business entitled her to this. she marked up delivery costs, she missed her delivery day even though I called that day for verification. And worst of all, one of the arborvitaes had a severe case of infestation of bagworm. I called Jeff at the office 2x confirming what the delay was only to have them "not" return any of my phone calls. Generally, this place has really nice plants. Where it falls apart is with the person that answers the phone! She sounds hurried and annoyed that the phone rang and she has to answer it. She also will say anything to someone that calls there. Here is my story for today: I called and 'Ms. Annoyed you called' answered. I asked about real cedar mulch (for pest control) and was told Hemlock mulch was what to get. I asked her about what their stock was, told her how much I needed and the time the TWO TRUCKS would arrive to pick it up. Clearly, she said whatever to get me off the phone (we have plenty of that, not a problem). Well, 2 trucks worth of workers showed up to pick it up and guess what? No hemlock mulch that day. That is horrible customer service. The workers call me, and before their closing time I called them...shockingly she had already stopped answering the phone. So if you are riding by and see a nice plant, but all means buy it. If you need to call there to make any type of arrangements or find out about stock, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, GO ANYWHERE ELSE! read more

I called this company to request an estimate to get some tree work done. They came out and called a few days later with the estimate. I called to schedule the work and was told by L that she would call me back that afternoon to let me know when they could come. She didn't call that day. I called again Tuesday to schedule, and she said she would call me back in an hour to schedule. Again, no call. I called again on Thursday and she said she thought it would be the next day, but she would call to confirm. This time she did call back to say they would be out that next day to do the work. Friday comes, no one shows, no one calls, nothing. Bad business practice for sure. read more

The annuals are a little overpriced, the selection wasn't great, and after spending $100+ on annuals they didn't have anything trays or boxes we could use to keep the little pots from falling over in the trunk.
