I was a regular at this beautiful shop when I used to stay in Chatham and not sure why I never wrote a review previously . It was one of my fav shop to buy gifts for my friends be it plants or pots or small trinkets or even manure or pumpkins for myself . I bought a lot of plants for myself from here and they are all doing well after all these years and many were just veggies which always did well. I am SO happy to have found J&M for our wedding! I fell in love with one of their past wedding arrangements in their portfolio and no other florist I searched for even came close. They were easy to schedule with, and I ended up designing my whole wedding based on their beautiful color palette. They even cut the bridal bouquet stems short for me, which is wonderful, as I sit in a wheelchair and long stems are awkward to hold. It's been 5 days since my wedding and my bouquet is still looking gorgeous in a vase on my coffee table. Absolutely could not be happier! read more

Every time I pass by this shop I have to run in. Now, this isn't just your average garden store. It's a whole experience. The outside of the shop always has seasonal items that are always great. Right now they have large decorative pumpkins that you can put on your steps. They always seem to have adirondack chairs outside (keep in mind, they are very expensive). The inside includes a florist shop that you can stop by for just a bunch of flowers, or you can go to them to help decorate your events. I actually went here to get my wedding flowers. They were outstanding!!! I worked with Erin and she was great. She had great suggestions and knew what I was picturing when I couldn't exactly describe what I wanted. Besides the flowers, the is also a boutique shop. They have clothing, bags, jewelry, candles, furniture, paintings, etc. I recently bought an entryway table from here. On top of THAT, they also have a green house filled with all kinds of plants, succulents, and more. Added bonus: a very friendly parrot that is sometimes walking around the store haha. Love this garden center and they offer so much at reasonable prices. Their plants always looks so healthy and unlike other plant stores, they're very organized and clean. They sell lots of rarity too at great prices. Staff is friendly and love the pet parrot they have in there. It's almost too dangerous that I live pretty close to this place. I have used J&M multiple times over the years for floral arrangements and have been fairly satisfied. A few months ago I had a very poor experience with a Birthday arrangement they delivered. There were very few flowers in a poor arrangement costing close to $100. They offered to replace it with another that was equally poor which I did not accept. They refunded my money but the Birthday surprise was ruined. I thought I would try them again, spending $175 all-in, for our 50th anniversary. 7 sun flowers and 6 roses and some filler flowers . Hardly a festive arrangement for a occasion. Maybe the vase is Waterford? Just as an FYI- the roses never opened. read more

They also have a small furniture shop attached (never even noticed it) that sells wicker style furniture (not sure if it's the only thing but that's what I noticed). So i went to J&M so excited to speak to someone about my flower needs for my wedding. i got in for an appointment and met with erin (i think that was her name) who was in charge of all weddings. The appointment was okay, i didnt get a lot of feedback from her and didnt really get a whole lot of ideas. Usually when i went to a florist i would talk about my general thoughts and colors and the florist would suggest arrangements. Here, if i didnt tell them exactly what i was looking for they gave me a book and told me to pick. Even after that, i waited patiently for the proposal, which was promised to me within 48 hours. A week went by, still nothing. So i called on two separate occasions, both times they stated that they would send it out in the next few hours and call me to make sure i got the information via email. good thing i didnt hold my breath. Needless to say, after 2 failed attempts i called it quits. VERY DISAPPOINTED. i even wrote to them expressing my concerns, never even got a courtesy email in response. read more

Today was my first trip to J&M, and I have to say, it was great experience, and they are my new go-to florist. The girl I spoke to on the phone was really helpful in selecting beautiful and creative arrangements that were within my budget. I opted for pickup rather than delivery, and when I arrived I found that they were even more beautiful than I could have anticipated. Very carefully constructed in interesting vases with high quality flowers. I took about 20 minutes to walk around the rest of their store. Wow. They've taken a large space and organized it into little boutiques that specialize in all types of wares for the home. Unique gifts, classy holiday decor, lush greenhouse plants, one of a kind pottery, and of course the floral center. In a store like this it's important that their Buyer has impeccable taste, and sure enough I found myself wanting something I saw around almost every corner. Alas, I wasn't shopping for me today. But, I'll definitely stop in for holiday shopping and for some plants once I get my office cleaned up. I just feel like giving a gift from a store like J&M will be more personal than a gift from the mall. I didn't get to check out the garden center, I'll have to see it when I do my planting in the Spring. Great job, J&M, I'll definitely be back! read more

came here to get gifts for my mother-in law and grandmother. Parking is easy on the side of the nursery. They have a nice indoor nursery to walk around and offer all sorts of plants. My kids enjoyed the parrot and fountains while I'm browsing the selection. The service on helping me select flowers, add a ceramic pot and moss filler was very helpful as I have no clue what to get. She brought them to the cashier for me to check out...again helpful so I'm not holding these plants while waiting in a small space to pay the items. It was busy during the holiday season and the lines were a bit long in a cramped space to wait - so con right here. But the cashiers wrapped the orchids and plants that I bought beautifully. Just only wish they ask me what color ribbon I want, rather than slap on one the first one they touch. read more

I went here just in the hopes that they would have the cactus I wanted. I was so pleasantly surprised to find such a wide variety of all sorts of plants, not just the succulents and cacti that I was looking to purchase. I was able to get the exact cactus I wanted and I plan to go back to get more. Also, the cockatoo and blue macaw were a nice surprise to see in the greenhouse. I wish I could take them home with me, they're so cute. My ONLY disappointment of the place was seeing the shelves of sad unhealthy Betta fish under super bright LED lights (which they actually hate and cause unneeded stress). I've personally owned several Bettas and know this is an extremely unhealthy environment for them to be in. I wish they'd just stick to selling plants/pots/soil/flowers which are all amazing. read more

I ordered a dozen roses to be delivered to someone for Valentine's Day and they never received the order. I called several times throughout the day asking where the flowers were and was told multiple times 'they were out for delivery.' Eventually I spoke to the manager who came up with several different excuses and even told me that they attempted to deliver them but no one was home, which is a lie because I was home all day and no one came to the door! Aside from this bad experience, a dozen roses at J&M costs $100- which is quite a rip off. I do not plan on using J&M again. read more

I totally though I wrote a review for this place a few years back, so imagine my surprise when I checked in and saw I actually hadn't! Needless to say, this is another one of my favorite nurseries. The prices here are very reasonable compared to some others in the area, and their staff is knowledgable, friendly and helpful. They have a wide selection of plants, bushes, trees and flowers, as well as gifts and outdoor decor, such as patio furniture, bird baths, statues, and the like. Everything we have gotten here has had a good life span and when we've had any issues or questions, they've always been there to help us out either in person or by phone. I went in looking for some new bushes for my front garden. One of the staff was very helpful, explaining the differences between different bushes and what would work best in my yard. I purchased a fiddle leaf fig tree from J&M over the summer. It was my first time having this tree so I was given great advice on how to take care of it while I was there. They have a very reasonable delivery fee and it was delivered within a few hours of purchasing it. Months later, I began to have issues as leaves were falling off. When I went in, Joe (the owner), addressed all of my concerns in a very positive manner. I look forward to shopping there again in the spring to add more plants to our home. read more

J&M was an absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish. We live in nearby Summit, and when looking for some plants for the house, we were hard-pressed to find a solid nursery nearby. Tried a bunch of places with no real luck or good selection. J&M comes into the picture, and it was a really great experience. We were helped immediately and told what we should get, why, and walked around the entire joint. We ultimately decided on something, and they even potted and planted everything for us on the spot - for $10 (the cost of potting soil). HIGHLY recommend the people at J&M if you need any sort of plants or shrubs for your home. read more

At Christmas time - I stopped in to buy a few gifts since I like to frequent local shops. I brought my items up to the front counter to pay for my purchases and asked a question - the answer was curt and they could not have been unfriendlier and they acted as if they were doing me a favor by accepting my credit card purchase. They were clearly trying to rush me out though they were not busy and no one in line. I bought a few things and then came back later and returned them. I went to another local store - bought nicer gifts and the other store wrapped them for me. The person at J & M at the front counter that "helped" me - told me they do not wrap gifts when I asked. Yet - when I came back to return the items - another sales person was wrapping several gifts for other people. The absolute nerve - they are the worst. I will never shop there again. read more

A week ago I purchased over $200 worth of bushes, and only after a week of having them professional planted they died. I went back to J&M and the costumer service was absolutely terrible!! The owners son told me he doesn't care that the plants died and that it's not their problem... and when I asked for help regarding what he thinks could have been the problem he again said, "I don't know and I don't care". As a loyal costumer, who has spent thousands of dollars here, am NEVER going back. No one that rude to a costumer should be in service. read more

Enough of time has passed for me to write this review since Valentine's Day-reason why I waited to because I was waiting to see if I heard from anyone, especially one of the owners. Back on Valentine's Day 2018 my husband stopped in to purchase 1 dz red roses like he has always done the past 25+ years. (we have patronized this store for plants, home gifts too throughout the years. I was so DISAPPOINTED with the roses. They were flimsy stemmed roses, too short, and the next day the buds on them just drooped over and not one of them opened. Realistically, I should have just brought them back but I was busy with personal matters. I should not have shrugged it off. Instead I wrote a personal note to the owners. What a waste of my time that was. I never received a phone, email or a note in the mail or even replacement. I worked at my brothers florist so I know about flowers. I have to say they should have communicated something and done some customer service here. Guess they don't worry about keeping a long time client happy. But reading some of the reviews sounds like they don't have great customer service relations- which I am big on. Just going that extra distance of acknowledging a customer's dissatisfaction and trying to make a wrong right goes a long way and keeps them as a customer in my book. read more
