NOT a liqut store you want to go in. The store is smelly with old rotten carpet that looks as if gallons of alcohol landed on it at one point or another. The owner...to make it short is a nasty and rude being of some sort. Not helpful either. The store smelled absolutely gross. Owner asks me what I want to pay for an expensive bottle that he doesn't have a price tag on. I wasn't there to haggle and when I offer well well over MSRP he tells me he is offended and proceeds to throw a temper tantrum. It's my neighborhood liquor store. You will find plenty of parking in front. Place has always had a nice selection of your liquor and wine needs. When the owner is around he is definitely knowledgeable in helping you pick out what your pallet is looking for and on occasion able to order certain wines he may not carry. On the rare occasion he isn't there the staff is very helpful and need be would contact him because customer satisfaction is important to him. The staff was great and friendly, as was the liquor store itself. I had asked for assorted party favors and they were able to make 40 with wine, vodka, rum, whiskey. Each individual party favor had a shot glass or a wine stopper or a holder and I thought it was a great addition and really tied it all up. Everything was put together so nicely and in a timely manner. The staff was accommodating and definitely helped my vision come to life. Wow, the owner is sooo disrespectful. I walked in there to buy two bottles of small vodka for cooking purposes. He proceeds to ask me "sweetie how old are u" and i said "21, do u need id" and he claimed I don't look of age and I handed him my ID, I go to pay by card and he started lecturing me while raising his voice about how we kids now adays don't carry cash and that we should carry 10-15$ of cash like what?? How is that your business what form of money I carry with me? Instead of just saying "i'm sorry our minimum is ...$" he just lectured me instead. Danny did it again! Came through with another special delivery (he delivered personally) and followed through on everything he promised. Went ABOVE and BEYOND for me. I cannot recommend him enough. If I could give 10 stars for a rating I would!!!! He sent pictures of the gift after he wrapped it and called me at time of delivery. I am in Florida and the recipient was in NY. Stopped in to grab a bottle of wine on my way home. As soon as I walk in the older man ( not sure if he was an employee or the actual owner) behind the counter was on the phone being very unprofessional using profanities, I brushed it off. J & M Wine and Liquor is undoubtedly my favorite liquor store in Long Island....maybe in all of New York State. The store is well organized and has a vast selection of not only typical liquors, but more extravagant drinks as well. I usually drop by to purchase whiskey, vodka and wine. The selection and variety they offer is unparalleled. Additionally, they occasionally offer tastings of new and more rare drinks, which is an excellent touch. Perhaps the most welcoming aspect of J&M is the staff themselves. I've gone to the store for a few years now, and the owners and staff really make an attempt to get to know you; as a result, they make shopping easy. In particular, the staff is very helpful in explaining and suggesting wines; their knowledge about wine is what keeps bringing me back to this location. Lastly, the prices are absolutely excellent at this liquor store, and I've become a huge fan of these guys. Three thumbs up! I turned 21 on April 23rd 2020, I went in on 4th of July to buy a bottle of Jose Cuervo, because of coronavirus and I couldn't get my ID updated because the DMV was closed he turned me down and gave me a whole lecture on why he couldn't accept it. It is 4th of July and I'm 21 and just trying to buy a bottle to enjoy this day. He lectured me for about 10 mins and it's ridiculous, all he had to do was read the date on my ID and he would see how I am of legal age to buy alcohol. read more

I would never go there again. I was purchasing a bottle of wine. I suggested to the owner that a local liquor store was selling it for a lot less. I was buying it anyway but I thought I was doing him a service by letting him know of his local competition. He told us "Good luck Go there". I was shocked that a business owner would be so nasty to a customer. I left the wine and would never step a foot in there again. The owner needs a huge attitude adjustment. Felt compelled to join yelp after my experience with this establishment. I'll try to keep this short. I collect whisky and figured I'd stop by J&M Wine and Liquor to see if they had any hidden gems. After inquiring about a few hard to find bottles, the owners offensive and insulting response prompted me to call him out saying that's not how you speak to customers (bear in mind the bottles I inquired about are fine and rare - $$$). He took an extremely defensive stance and started raising his voice. I proceeded to take out my phone to record his shortcomings in customer relationship management. That prompted him to kick me out while yelling "this customer is harassing me" and recording the confrontation on his phone, following me out to my car. Then i left to continue my day. As a respectful human being, i ended up calling the store 30 minutes later to offer my apology as i seem to have upset him in some manner. He continued to add insult to injury stating i have the video and 24 cameras set up that is now with my friend the sheriff and that i will be receiving a letter upon investigation, once they check my record. Record? Lol..Can you believe that? A pure threat for something that alleges i have done something wrong. He concluded the conversation by saying he accepts my apology and to never walk in his store again. The final touch: "I don't need your business, papi." Before we go out, we usually stop by this liquor store and the owner is always letting us try the newest products! It's the pregame before out party! The owner's wife is unsmiling, doesn't greet you, and is always on her phone talking to someone in her language even as she's ringing up my purchases.
