Railey Vacations - Used towels left on porch full

    Railey Vacations

    (156 reviews)

After a bad experiences a few years back, I decided to give Railey Vacations another try. I am glad…read morethat I did, as my most recent experience was much better than the others. I was more than happy to run to Yelp to provide an update to my previous review. Me and a group of friends and I stayed at one of Raileys newer properties, Wispering Rapids. This property was honestly one of the most amazing Deep Creek properties I have ever stayed in. The house was So new and so clean. You could just smell the newness and cleanliness of the property upon exiting. Definitely a breath of fresh air, as most of the other home in the area are in need of some updates. The house had a total of six bedrooms and all of the rooms had their own bathrooms! That's a rare find for these vacation homes. The living room, dining room and kitchen areas were massive, allowing everyone to engage with one another while we cooked our meals. The deck held a large hot tub, with a fireplace and plenty of comfortable seating which provided another large location for myself and my guests to socialize. My one gripe, I wish the team had did a better job with shoveling after the recent snowfall. The driveway, walkways and the porch had quite an accumulation of fallen snow, making it both difficult and scary to walk on. Other than that, this was a much better experience than the last.

Beautiful house but very dissatisfied with the many issues we encountered. When we arrived, there…read morewas a white trash bag on the front porch. We assumed it was linens but we did not look. That bag stayed on the front porch for the duration of our stay. Then, right after we arrive, a man comes to the door and said he was expecting the owner as he was here to fix a few things. We were in the middle of unloading so we let him in. He was in the house about 30 minutes. We don't know what he repaired... We arrived New Years Eve and didn't try the hot tub that night as we celebrated New Years. The next morning we awakened to six inches of fresh snow and no snow shovel. We had to borrow a neighbors! After shoveling the path to the hot tub and clearing the front porch and some back deck space, another gentleman knocked on the door. This gentleman informed us he was there to drain, clean, and refill the hot tub. He said no one had cleaned it in a month and the water was green. So no hot tub that day or evening.... We then discover that two burners on the stove were malfunction and the garbage disposal didn't work. We tried to call the Property Management company, but they were closed because it is New Years Day. My stepson spent about an hour repairing the garbage disposal and found someone had put a screw in there. The next morning, we try to call the Property Management company again but after being on hold for a while, it pushed us to voicemail. We left a message and it took two hours to call us back. When we received the callback, we reported all the problems we encountered. She offered to send someone to repair the burners on the stove and we declined, choosing not to have a third service call in three days. She told us their company meets once a week to discuss renter issue and to determine if any compensation was appropriate. A week later, we were notified that we were not entitled to any recourse because we didn't open any work orders. There were two work orders processed while we were there and we self rescued the rest because we didn't want more strangers interrupting our family holiday. We will be back in Deep Creek next New Uears but will go back to AirBNB. By the way, I posted this same review a few days ago on the Raileys site and it disappeared. my review disappeared. I wonder how many other less than favorable reviews they have removed...on the Raileys site, this house only had five star reviews.

I subleased a house in South Park from an employee of Ondo Rentals, Robert Severt. Worst rental…read more(and sublease) experience *ever*. Admittedly, some of this was probably my fault. See, I spent the last seven years in Texas, where a property with a non-programmable thermostat is all but unheard of, and the electric company advises you to install your own; so I installed a Nest in the Ondos' house, which Phil did not like one bit. Here is a chronological list of relevant experiences, good and bad: - Robert told me the house would be available in May, at the end of his lease term, before I signed his sublease. Subsequently, I found out that the Ondos specifically told him it would not be. Robert also told me the house contained an air conditioner (turned out to be a window unit, located uselessly on the basement floor). - Candi and Phil knew Robert was consistently lying to them, and also to a tenant, and expressed remorse. They were actually very kind about it, tried to find me another place to live. Candi then denied that Robert was an employee. - The house was very cool, but in terrible shape. Screen doors were ripped, the floors gouged and in need of refinishing, bathroom smelled of urine, the bedroom carpet was *disgusting*, paint was peeling in the bedroom closets, etc. Positives: house was huge, kitchen was relatively nice (updated), and furnace was new. The price was about right, but utilities were expensive. - Other houses the Ondos showed me were in *worse* condition and cost more money. - Once, I came home and the back door was wide open. Turns out my roommate was responsible, but I asked Candi if Phil had been over to fix something -- mainly because I wanted to know if someone had broken in. They took this as me accusing them of breaking into the house, and claimed that Phil never enters without calling the tenant first. - Eventually, Phil made me take out my Nest. He paid a company $174.90+ to put a non-programmable thermostat back in the house (where do you even get one these days?). Charging me $175 out of my deposit was somewhat reasonable, since I modified his house without permission, though it could have been handled better (like by allowing me to put the thermostat back the way it was myself). - In March or April, my roommate called in a service request on the dryer, which was turning but not heating. Phil came and looked at it (I was in Texas), claimed it was heating, and left. I returned from Austin to find it still not working, called Phil and left a message, and asked him to call me back and explain what he had done to make the dryer heat. - Phil entered the house without calling me back (contrary to Candi's claims that he always called before entering), again evaluated the dryer, made no repairs, and left. - Not realizing Phil had been there already, I called him again. He was more rude than usual, and then accused me of messing with the thermostat he had charged me to install (seriously?). He seemed to think I'd ripped out his replacement and put in a new non-programmable stat in its place (I had not). Every time I tried to explain it to him, calmly, he cut me off. He accused me of trying to screw with him by claiming things were broken that weren't (do people here really do that?). The conversation culminated with him calling me a moron. - The Ondos threatened to withhold my deposit until the start of next heating season (illegal under WV law) in case I'd broken the furnace. The heater was working perfectly at this point, and was likely going to be out of warranty by the next heating season, so I was skeptical. - I cleaned the crap out of that house before moving out. I didn't think I'd be seeing much of my deposit again at this point, between Phil the verbally abusive landlord and Robert the compulsively lying lease-holder, but I believe in leaving things better than I found them. - Actually, nearly all of the deposit was returned (minus the thermostat, of course). They charged me $10 for "three false service calls." For something I didn't do, $10 was pretty reasonable. They charged me $3.75 for forgetting to clean under the stovetop, also extremely reasonable. They also didn't charge me for pre-existing damage likely caused by Robert, except for the fridge shelf ($9.49 + $7 for gas). - The deposit return came through Robert, and so I asked Robert to also return me the $16.49 for the fridge shelf. That day I got a very angry call from Robert's girlfriend/fiancee, who said that they were going to give me the money but only because I was being difficult and they didn't want to deal with me anymore. To summarize, living in this house was miserable. Ondo Rentals employs a compulsive liar. Phil Ondo is verbally abusive and misanthropic. If you have to deal with them, deal with Candi, or with their daughter (who is amazingly really kind). If you don't mind verbal abuse and living in a slum, definitely rent from these people. And whatever you do, don't install a Nest.

We had a great experience renting from Ondo Rentals! We didn't see the negative reviews until after…read morewe had already signed the lease, so we were a little apprehensive when we moved in. However, it couldn't have been a better experience. Mr. & Mrs. Ondo were very nice, and the one time something broke (washing machine), Mr. Ondo was over the next day with a replacement. When we moved out, we did our best to clean everything to the specifications of our lease. We received our entire deposit back, less money to cover the oven cleaning (which I had let them know I hadn't gotten to) and one set of broken blinds (which I annoyingly broke the day we moved out). I think the key to having a good experience is to not act like an entitled jerk. Follow the lease rules, pay your rent on time, and report anything that breaks/gets damaged promptly. (I posted this in other review sites, FYI. I'm trying to counteract the poor reviews left by the immature renters who apparently aren't ready for adulthood)

The 90 year old home was completely stripped down to the studs and renovated by Pittsburgh Property Guy. After living in the house for nearly a year, I can attest to the very high level of quality and craftsmanship that he put into this home. The home inspector even commented to me prior to purchasing that he's seen a lot of renovated homes, and this one was clearly done right. He used high end finishes like Brazilian Cherry floors, granite kitchen counters, and marble in the master bathroom. He also took the time to have the brick cleaned on the outside of the house, exposed and restored original woodwork, vaulted the 3rd floor to create even more livable space. Everywhere you look, you can see that time and thought was put into the final product. It's been so nice having friends and family comment on the beauty and quality of the renovation too! Aside from the quality craftsmanship, Pittsburgh Property Guy himself provided top notch customer service to me when I had questions or minor issues that I encountered. He worked with me directly via phone and email, and was always very quick to respond. It was clear that my happiness as his customer was important to him, and that's not something that should be overlooked! If you're thinking about buying one of his properties, you're in safe hands.

The property needed lots of repair work and the cost of maintaining it was piling up. I reached out to a few investors in the area regarding selling the property and was extremely grateful that I connected with Nick from the Pittsburgh Property Guy Team. When I spoke to Nick, I immediately felt comfortable. He was very professional, knowledgeable and friendly and offered solutions. Thanks to him, the entire process was smooth, quick and easy. He kept me updated every step of the way from the time they made an offer to close. It was a pleasure doing business with the Pittsburgh Property Guy Team and we highly recommend their services to anyone.

I waited to publicize this review, but I can't wait any longer…read more I have been in one of their properties for the last 6 weeks now and I am disappointed in the team. When we moved in, the unit was left unlocked and anyone off the street could enter the home. That was the first red flag. As we moved our stuff into the home, the AC was completely unusable and the temperature inside exceeded 85°. Now they did address this and fix this quickly, but we still moved into a home that was not ready. For the first 2 weeks living here, we had to deal with leftover trash and debris that was never cleaned up entirely, I had to fight the maintenance team to send someone out to collect full trash can, full bags of trash, and assorted contractor material. There is still trash and debris on the property that was never picked up, even after someone came out. After our gas was set up, we discovered that the washing machine and dryer were both broken and unable to be used. It took weeks for a new unit to be delivered and there was little to no communication from the property management team. Within that time, the basement flooded and we had to move our stuff we had stored down there. This issue was addressed within a 2 day period. Now we are dealing with a broken oven that I communicated 3+ weeks ago was broken and could not be used. I have not gotten any updates from the management team, even after having a tech come over and work on the unit. It has now been over a week since that visit and I don't know if they are repairing or replacing my unit. I have sent multiple messages asking for an update, and only the appliance company has provided any update. From Day 1 this property was not move in ready, even though it had been vacant for months leading up to us moving in. I would strongly recommend if you are looking to rent from RPM, please find a unit that is already in working order and tread carefully. I feel like when a property is being listed for rentals, it should be move in ready and not be a dumpster fire for the new tenants to put out. RPM did not do their diligence when listing this property and dumped all the broken appliances and issues onto my wife and I. To RPM, please do better with your management of these properties. Yes the home is old and is going to have quirks to it, but I shouldn't have to beg and plead with your team to get work done and completed. Things can and will break, that's just the nature of property management, but when everything I have listed is broken at Day 1, that is disappointing and doesn't paint you or your company in good light.
