They used to be great. I loved their integrity and recommended them widely. I've bought multiple appliances from them. But now, I hate to say it -- but increasingly, they treat loyal customers like crap. They promise to call back with information, and NEVER do. Make appointments they don't keep, and don't call. --I get it when a business is understaffed with good techs -- but CALL and let the customer, who is waiting and counting on them, to let them know what's up. Respond. I bought my most recent primary refrigerator from them about a year ago in the $500 range. I started calling almost three weeks ago that the temp was in the 60's and I was using the freezer section as a fridge. After multiple calls and messages, they didn't show up until four days ago and said compressor was bad and it wasn't worth fixing -- but they'd take care of me. And then, they didn't get back to me about the options. When I reached them two days ago they said they'd give me another one for ~$550. --Hmm. So, despite that the one I bought should have lasted more than a year -- that's the best they can do for me for a replacement? After making me wait for over two weeks for them to even look at it. And of course, they've promised to call me back 2 x's since this last conversation --and haven't. I even told them that I want to buy a washer and dryer from them over the next month. -- Doesn't make any difference in their interest in helping me out. --I might as well start buying new sale or scratch & dent appliances instead of being treated like this. read more

I can't even give them one star they say that they have a 6-month warranty and that they're appliances are all in really good condition or they wouldn't sell them so I sent my daughter to get my dad a washer my dad is 78 years old and has stage 4 cancer and they gave me the rustiest washer it's not going to last him a year and a part already broke on it I called them about the warranty they've made three appointments with me never called never showed up and their window for an appointment is 4 hours long my dad and my oldest daughter both have cancer I'm dealing with so much and my schedule is so busy they don't care they screwed over a senior citizen with stage four cancer there's no excuse if there was a problem they should have called they didn't so I showed up to their shop they were open a guy came to the door and he told me to get screwed it's not his problem and he wasn't listening to me anymore went in and locked the door. I didn't cuss at him I didn't yell at him he's just a pansy who can't even have a conversation so he told me to come back today which is Sunday he said we'll see you tomorrow we open at 9:00 no they don't it's Sunday so I'm glad that I checked before I drove there it takes me 25 minutes to get to their shop so now they've wasted 12 hours of my time an hour of driving time on top of it and my gas and my sanity so now I'm going to go buy my own part and fix it myself so the warranty doesn't do you a whole lot of good and their machines are crap do not and I mean in all capital letters do not buy from this business go to John R appliance they're great I've been using them for 30 years they just didn't have the machine I wanted my mistake I should have waited John R appliance gets my kudos they're very good. My stove needed replacing so I went to J&T's in Hazel Park. They offered to remove my old stove and install a new used one. How nice I thought what a helpful service. I was wrong. The service cost was rolled into the price of the stove. Then the workers who showed up were abusive to my house. They bashed a big chip out of my countertop, damaged my dooorsill and left my old stove on my lawn. instead of taking it away like they promised. Then they wanted to leave before leveling to stove. And still it took 3 tries to level it. The last try was mine, after I kicked them out of my house. A really lousy experience. My advice is: if you buy anything from this place install it yourself and ask for a discount on the install service. Or just go somewhere else. read more

This was a very very positive experience. Both Terry and Janie were extremely pleasant and helpful. I needed a washing machine, they had advertised one and I went later in the afternoon. Terry showed me that one plus another option for the same price and made some helpful suggestions that made the decision very easy. The whole transaction took 15 minutes. Their delivery fee was very reasonable which included removal of the old machine putting in the new one, hooking it up and running it to make sure it worked. There's a 6 month warranty, if anything should happen they will come and fix it and if it's not fixable, they will replace it. They set up a very convenient delivery time for us. They were on time with that as well. We appreciated their service so much, that we returned a week later to purchased a refrigerator! read more

I really like this used appliance store in Hazel Park MI to be and have exactly what I needed. It is a bare bones store front with hundreds of appliances neatly lined up and ready for inspection. For the most part, all standard appliances of the same ilk (frigs/ovens/etc.) to be about $350. Those with additional perks cost a bit more...but all are very reasonably priced. The staff was incredibly accommodating and patient as I figured which item I wanted. I had a problem with one of the appliances I got...but they were very responsive and sent someone out the next day to fix and/or replace. Delivery only cost $50.... well worth it for me. Beware brought a used dryer and didn't work. Brought this for a cottage, never used it and gave it to a friend. Wrong plug on it for a start!!! Once he got it connected it stayed very hot without being turned on. I would not recommend. read more

We went here because we heard some nice things about this appliance store. My husband called and got prices on some fridges (600-800 for what we were looking for) but when I arrived, the lady (same lady he spoke to on the phone) said it was 750-900 but 90% of them were 900. While browsing their showroom, and opening the fridges, prior to speaking to the worker, my mother asked "what's that?" And upon closer inspection, there was a baby ROACH in the seal of the fridge, just crawling along. And if there's one, there's more as anyone is aware!! While the worker was showing me one more fridge, she proceeded to swat away another roach off the freezer part of it. To say the least that we got the h*ll out of dodge is an understatement!! I mean, if you wanna waste your money here, great, just know, you'll probably be getting free roaches with your appliance. read more

For used parts or repairs, park in the alley behind the showroom. The repair shop is next door (north) of the showroom. They have a very large supply of parts. The prices are right on target - at true market value. The staff is very approachable, knowledgeable and quick to aid in diagnosis of your problem. The showroom is well stocked. I also like the 6 month warranty and cheap delivery. I highly recommend this used appliance store. It is much better than the others I visited in the area. read more

I used to refer people to J&T appliances all the time and I thought they were a good batch of people there. I bought a dryer from them about a year ago- and I bought a nice one so that it would last a while. Probably the most expensive dryer they had in the store at that time. They have a 6 month warranty, cool. So 12 months later...my dryer doesn't want to carry a heavy load and will stop spinning. I call them and promptly they sent over a technician. I paid him 45 dollars to connect a hose and he left. Stating that the dryer probably was reacting this way due to moisture. He said the only thing that would cause it to act that way is if the motor was bad. He said to call back if I had any issues and he would replace the motor. So the next day it acts up again, I call and a lady answers and takes down my info. I have called about 6 times and never get a call back. I am afraid if I scrap the thing, they will just garbage pick it, fix it and sell it for $300 again. All I wanted was a functioning dryer! read more
