Entering J&V is a bit cluttered. Only a few waiting chairs available, but despite this service is great. You pay for Min's thorough eye to catch minor things such as a missing DOB or asking for a marriage license because you changed your surname to your husband's. It took about 2 weeks to receive my VISA to China that will expire in 10 years at a $340 fee. Future travels to Asia will bring me back to J&V. read more

My husband, baby, and I got our China visas here for our upcoming trip. Min helped us and promised that we'd get it within a week. Since he was going on vacation by the time our visas were ready, he directed us to their Oakland location for pick up. I liked Min's service and we got our visas a couple days after the promised date which was pretty fast (within a week). I just hope that they would have been the person to reach out to us to let us know our documents were ready for pickup, as oppose to the customers having to contact them to check up. We pay for service, so a phone call to let us know shouldn't be too much to ask for. read more

This is a travel agency in the 99 Ranch mall in Richmond, by the 80 highway. My girlfriend and I were looking for tickets to Asia, and Min, an agent there, got us the tickets we needed at a great price. Even though we both do not speak Chinese he was more than happy to help us. Our tickets to Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Bangkok were $200-250 cheaper through J&V Travel than online through Orbitz or other sites. They book tickets anywhere (although they seem to specialize in Asia) with any airline. They can also book hotels, although we did not book our hotels through them. Next time I'm looking for tickets Min at J&V Travel is my man. read more

The 2 stars isn't necessarily due to one catastrophic mistake, but more of a series of smaller complaints that all added up to a generally bad experience today. Min came recommended to me, and even though I have no car and live in the Grand Lake area, I trekked all the way here to have him take care of my visa last weekend. Things went smoothly. The cost of the visa service was $20 on top of the price of the visa itself. He noticed that I live in Oakland, so he said I could pick up my visa today at the Oakland office as it was much closer. I really appreciated that. This afternoon, I called the Oakland office to verify that my passport was there before I showed up. Good thing, too, because they told me that my passport had actually been sent back over to Richmond a few days ago. Ok... If I had known it would've been ready earlier, I could've picked it up in Oakland earlier. They also said I couldn't pick it up today anyway as the Richmond office is closed on Mondays. Great... I decided to check on Yelp to see when the Richmond office would be open tomorrow morning. Wait a minute, Yelp says the office is open until 6pm today. I called the Richmond office and, lo and behold, they are in fact open until 6pm today. What a strange mistake for this person working in the Oakland office to make. By this time, I'm already heading home (that is, in the opposite direction from Richmond), so I turn around and go out to the Richmond office. Min is helping a couple already, and there is a woman waiting ahead of me. Min doesn't hand me my passport or say anything to me, so I figure I would have to fill out some sort of final paperwork. I sit and wait. A second agent comes and helps the woman in front of me. They finish up, she leaves, but the second agent doesn't say anything to me. Ok, I figure he's busy finishing up. Another while goes by and I hear him say to me in an annoyed tone "excuse me, can I help you?" Granted, I was reading stuff on my phone in an attempt to pass the time, so I probably didn't hear him the first time, but seriously, it's not my job to guess when you're busy or not. I tell this second agent I need to pick up my passport. He looks for it briefly in a pile and hands it to me. That's it. It took less than 45 seconds, and yet I had to travel 1.5 hours to get to and from Richmond and sit there waiting for another 40 minutes for this. Given that time is very tight for me this week, the extra time it took for me to get my passport today has not been a treat. However, since Min was recommended by a friend, I am willing to believe that today has just been one horrible fluke, and if I need a visa again, I may try one more time. read more

What John T. said. I've been using them for years for flights to Asia. Both sales people are good. I've worked with both. Check the airline (EVA, Cathay, China Air) before going in to see them so you know what the best interent fares are. BTW the Asian airline websites give better prices than Orbitz, Travelocity, etc. read more

The travel agent Min always busy answered the phone and I waited for awhile to inquiry about the upcoming China trip, give him some ideas about when and where we want to visit, he will contact me soon. Well after 2 weeks went back to check with him about the information, my contact and itinerary still seating next to his desk, that immediately give me the unprofessional approach, he simply said he was too busy, well this is unacceptable excuses, finally he email me the tours itinerary only offered for 11 days, tell me 8 day is unavailable, it's not true, I did find some tours offered 8 days in China, on top of that he quote me the flight from San Francisco to China over $1800, I search myself and find $300 cheaper online, hey I really want to use Min as my travel agent from my friend referral, but for the unprofessional serviced I received from him, I will book my vacation somewhere else. read more
