He is extremely knowledgeable, personable, and I loved his old school vibe. We made an appointment to the estimate and he was very prompt. Meeting Red, talking to him about our patio cover plans, and having him answer any questions we had was such an enjoyable experience. Red, and his partner, Ed have been building these patio covers for a while now. They are a locally owned licensed business that do the work themselves. They utilize quality Four Seasons building materials that require little to no maintenance. The bid we were given and the honest way that Red talked about his life and business clinched it for us. We chose a date, Red & Ed came out the day before the start to make sure we were all on the same page about the build, and the next day began. Ed, and his assistant Isiah, came promptly at the time they said they would. They set up and got started right away. Both of them were also very personable, and experienced. We were told that our project would take about 2 1/2 days, and it did exactly that! From start to finish , this company delivered a quality product that looks beautiful, and should last a very long time. I finally had it replaced last April 2025 by Skyline Patio and Sunrooms with an insulated cover. One year later, it has passed the test through hot weather, rain and wind. No more frying eggs on the concrete floor! I was very very happy with the service I received from this company. Joe, the manager, and Rick design rep, Darrin construction manager, Andrea production coordinator, Dianna sales coordinator, and others that came to do the work on site, were all professional and a real blessing in getting my new patio cover designed and put together with the features I wanted. The crew that worked on site demonstrated much care and passion in the work they did. The crew took time to answer my questions and even made a video on my phone so I could remember how the wiring was done for my patio light and fan. I have gutters on each side and also had outlets put in. Today the temperature in my backyard in the sun is 102°F. In the shade of my Avocado tree the temp is 96°F. The ambient temperature under my insulated patio cover is 84°F!! That's an 18 degree difference! The company responded quickly to my initial call and once material was in, had the work completed within 2 days. They took down and removed the old cover, prepped the areas needed, and cleaned up afterwards. Out of all the companies I met with, Skyline Sunrooms came out as my top choice. Pacific patio installed my patio cover and installed the lights, fans, internal gutters, outlets, and completed the permits needed for there portion of the project. People onsite were fantastic, hard working, and helped me understand what was being done. Gave me options along the process. I was able to call audibles like canceling my sunroof since we decided it was not needed and the cost was de-ducted. The concrete pour for the vertical stands I feel we're over engineered. It's incredibly solid and large pour. Cover is insulated and can be walked on no problem. This cover has completely changed how we host and how we live. Heck we took our inside dining table and moved it outside. We don't even host inside anymore. Some things that if I had to knit-pick or add feature in the future. The dinning lights are great but it would be nice if I we could do color changing selection lights. The placement of the fans are limited to specific channels within the roof structure which I did not realize before hand. Mine worked out pretty good but would have been nice to have a more custom placement of fans or placement of the lights. Also, I have a small gap between cover and wall where my main door is so some rain does get through. Hoping to add some skirt metal and deflect that rain onto the top of the cover. That said it's still a fantastic product but maybe future tech/changes will give this option.

However, there was a dent in the patio, which they tried to have repainted by their painter but it didn't work. After the paint not working, the lead installer, Justin, mentioned it would be tough to fix but the lead installer had some ideas and they would get back to me. More recently, I had some other contractors express concerns about the draining that was installed into a retaining wall, and as I am no builder/contractor/etc. I had no idea so I reached out to the Justin again, their call service, and more recently the owner, Rick, with no success. That was now almost 2 months ago, I've sent the Justin 3 texts, which are marked as read, with no response. I texted Rick and the only response I got was asking for my last name, but no response two texts later a few weeks later. I left a message with their call answer team or whatever and I have yet to actually get a call back from that. I've had a significant amount of contractors work on my house/property and I have never had one use a call answering service and never actually not been able to get a call back. I am torn on them because while they seem to do pretty good work and were responsive, once the job was done and we encountered an issue post-install they stopped responding to me for the most part. Now I feel like they are ghosting me, which I have also heard from a family member that I recommended to RKC, which is upsetting as I just wanted to ask a question and get something fixed.

I said OK, but that's cutting it short because I had to leave in the late afternoon. He didn't bother to ask me my address until he was leaving that job, which I didn't see that text for a half hour. By then it was clear he wasn't going to make it by the time I had to leave, so I said let's make it for another day and asked what day worked for him. No response. I asked the next day if he wanted to reschedule, no response again. Guess you're too busy for me. Fine. I won't use you for this project or any other, nor recommend you to my neighbors, friends or family.

I have been in customer service (law enforcement) for 31 years. This guy Dom who helped me is off the hook good. He treats you like the project you are working on is going into his own home and the owners of J & W should know he conducts himself like he owned the place himself in terms of his commitment to customer service. I am doing a complicated outdoor living space with a cover. Although it is not his job to do so, he has sat down with me twice to completely help with the design. On one of those occasions he told me to come down after his 3:30 appointment concluded. When that went long, he stayed 45 minutes after closing to make sure I got what I needed, including a full, detailed requote of the materials. I don't know how competitive J & W is price-wise, but they have my business going forward. read more

I have been a customer of J & W for the past 15 years, and their customer service has always been exceptional. It is always a pleasant experience. The yard sales personnel always ask if I need any assistance when I am searching for or loading the materials, and the office sales personnel are always very friendly and knowledgably. I really appreciate when they take their time to do a professional drawing, which guides me towards the correct amount of materials and a professional installation. I have purchased products for myself and for my customers during this period and have always been satisfied with the quality of materials that J & W stocks. The buying experience always seems a bit more personal than that of the big box store. read more

Jax, a lovely young lady, was incredibly patient and friendly, helping me pick out the perfect stain over several visits. My wife and I ordered lumber from J&W Lumber El Cajon. Joshua created plan based on our idea, set up everything we needed and scheduled the delivery. Tim contacted us with the delivery time and delivered our order right where we needed it placed. I usually select and load my own lumber for projects but decided to have the entire project delivered in one load and am very pleased. We only had contact with these two guys and were really impressed with how nice and accommodating they were, super guys!
