I usually go to the Dixieline on Sports Arena because its closer to my house but they are closed on Sunday so I went to La Mesa. Sal one of the lumber lot guys is excellent, and Marty the guy in tools! Oh man he told me about the Flex tools promotion, the turn one in, buy one get one free! It's the big box stores. This is the go to place. The other big thing about here is all of their staff is very skilled and knowledgeable and have been in the business obviously for years, so there's no second-guessing But more along the line is they are 100% committed to helping you. A great experience! Russell and Will came to our home and provided detailed information about installing a new aluminum patio cover. They were kind, patient, and thorough in explaining everything, including the removal of our old, rotted patio cover. The estimate was written by Josh, who was also very kind and professional. On demolition day, Will and Kai arrived promptly and were very considerate while taking down the old structure--it was a clean and careful demolition. As with most construction projects, an unexpected pre-existing issue came up, but they found the perfect solution without missing a beat. When the patio kit was delivered, they handled everything in an organized and efficient manner. The installation was precise, with close attention to measurements and detail, and everything looks fantastic! Russell also helped with the final finishes. Everything came together perfectly. We went there to get a car key made. We went to use the new key but it did not work. Jeremiah came out to the car to see what was wrong. He was very pleasant and helpful. He went back in and cut a new key. He again tried it and no luck. He tried to manually work to get the key to fit. Finally, he was very polite and tried to help to no avail. After cutting another key that did not work, he was very sorry and we agreed on a refund. Jeremiah did all he could for us and was the type of customer service person we all should want. I had an awful experience today at Dixieline. Yesterday, I came in for plumbing parts and was assisted by Marty the Plumbing Assistant. He is very knowledgeable but lacks patience. I brushed off his demeanor and purchased my items. Today, I returned for more plumbing parts accompanied by my plumber. Marty looked at us up and down when we asked for help. He told us the part we needed was not sold there then stopped talking to us, turned around and said, I'm done! We were shocked but continued to locate the items we needed and found what Marty stated, Dixieline did not carry. I spent lots of money both days. No one deserves the behavior he displayed for no known reason! I will stop shopping here, and shop at Home Depot where they dont discrimate or lack customer service! read more

Today, I had a custom size French door delivered and installed by a great team led by Allen. The entire team members were punctual, respectful, organized and professional. From the time they arrived until they left a few hours later, I felt comfortable and confident that they they were pros in the truest sense. They were all business and took charge from removing a window, cutting out the door entrance, installing door while at the same time taking care of the debris and dust. The result was most satisfying. Allen walked me through how to operate the door handle and lock. The team also worked well with electrician who rewired electrical outlet and installed a light fixture. Except for the cutting of the wall, they were quiet but all business. I went to this Dixieline to get a quote on some new windows. I probably should have turned around after the lack luster greeting I received from the guy sitting behind his desk as you walk into the window showroom. I stayed because I was greeted by a much friendlier person Josh. He spent some time talking windows and gathering my information. I went back home sent him the information he needed to help him write me up a quote. My real problem is when I received the quote. There was no breakdown of the 4 windows I needed. It was a lump sum for the two different brands. When I asked for a breakdown of the windows his reply was "you'll get that at time of purchase". In fairness to Josh he explained to me that it's Dixielines policy to not provide a breakdown. With that being said Dixieline has lost a customer. I won't be going there for any of my home improvement needs. As a consumer I deserve to know the breakdown and costs of each individual item I'm buying, so that I can make an informed decision. If you are looking for windows and need a breakdown go to Home Depot! Not only did they spend time talking to me they provided a breakdown of the windows and specifications without even purchasing. He told me to take it home look it over with my contractor and when I'm ready they'll place my order. On top of all that they were $600 cheaper than Dixieline. read more

The staff in El Cajon was helpful when I stop to get 2 pieces of plywood, I needed them cut down to 6 feet, but there saw wouldn't work....witch is actually why I went there in the first place. Dixieline lumber. You were the best location for me in relation to my new house but I will NEVER go back. I flip homes; I'm on my 22nd home so very familiar with home improvement stores. I ordered $11,000 of decking material from the La Mesa location. It was delivered on pallets and strapped and tarped (by you) for a few months before we could get to it. Yes, I am aware of your return policy but the new home had unknown terrible flooding issues we had to take care of before getting to the 55' upper deck. When we unwrapped the first pallet, 33 of the redwood 2x6's were twisted, gouged badly or split. Since this was the weekend and I had a crew coming in on Monday to install, yes, I sanded, waterproofed and stained about 1/2 of the shipment, but when the crew arrived Monday, I was told they could not use any of the 33 boards. I immediately called and spoke to Trent. Took photos and texted all to him. Trent said he would talk to a Mgr about replacing or at the very least giving me a credit since I was past the return date. I would need to pay for another delivery so I was open to the credit. Quite a few times, I was reminded of their policy. Each time I reiterated that this lumber was strapped and tarped by Dixieline the entire time, just as if it was at Dixielines yard. It was loaded by Dixieline this way and didnt make a difference of the time. Trent said to give him a few days. A week went by and never heard from him so I called him again. He said he would need to talk to a Mgr and call me back. NEVER heard from him again. To make matters worse, I have picked up 4x4's that were also too twisted to use and had to go back not once, but THREE times to replace. Finally went to the El Cajon location and got it replaced there. Nice and easy to drive right in and WAY more organized location. Maybe you should pick up some tips from the El Cajon Dixieline on how customers can pick up their lumber, or have the right staff in the lumber department. Very unhappy with the La Mesa store. Maybe you only care about the big huge companies out there and not private customers like me but I spend a good $150,000-200,000 a year on these homes, so in my opinion, your loss. read more

I love this store and the people that work here are always friendly and helpful but this is the second time I was in the middle of being helped when a man named Sergio or Burgio came out and decided to start micro managing the employee that was already helping me. If anything he made it frustrating and take longer I have no idea if he is the yard lead or a manager but it was very unprofessional of him and definitely made my trip awkward for me and I am sure the young man helping me. read more

I have used Dixieline lumber for our new construction home and ADU. From doors, windows, lumber and kitchen cabinets. I first used them in 2023 for an ADU, using Joshua at the La Mesa Dixieline to get our doors and windows and Sue for the kitchen cabinets. Everything went so well with that project that we returned when we started new construction on another Home & ADU for our family. Joshua, who now works at the Dana Point Dixieline, helped me once again. Outstanding service from him and his associates there. I had an installation question about one of the windows we ordered and Joshua gave us the contact for Simonton windows. We called right away and with a quick response, less than an hour, William from Simonton drove down to our home and helped us with our installation questions as well as answering other questions we had along with showing and telling us the best way to do the install. Unfortunately, due to a few circumstances that we now know we're  outside of Dixieline's control, our delivery process was extremely frustrating. I reached out through reviews to Dixieline to let them know of the issues we've faced. Trent, manager at the La Mesa location, reached out to us and was very kind in listening to our concerns and experience. We really appreciated that - it is not common for companies to follow through, but Trent and Dixieline went above and beyond, taking steps to rectify the situation and providing genuine customer service and care. John knew exactly what I was looking for and referred me to TM Cobb flush doors. I live in El Cajon and tried the Dixie Line in El Cajon first, and was blown off by the door guy there , he did not want to help me. John took the time to get me just what I was looking for. He is a class act, I will be sending all my friends his way for their door and window needs in the future. He desires a raise. I'm not one to write reviews like this but I'm so uncomfortable with the experience I had here. I just needed a few pieces of lumber, and asked an associate for the price. The level of unprofessionalism was insane. The man I spoke to was more interested in hitting on me relentlessly than doing his job. Asking about my outfit, my dimples, my earrings, am I married, what am I up to today-- it went on and on. And he kept getting super close to me, I kept backing up almost into a pallet of wood. I work in the service industry and I have a very thick skin for this kind of thing but I'm straight up upset about how blatant and out of control this interaction was. I didn't even get the price of what I needed bc he wouldn't stfu asking me personal questions!! Although the manager I spoke to on the phone was very polite and seemed to be rectifying the situation, the result was far from what I expected. We purchased a 4-piece patio set and paid an additional $100 for it to be delivered to our home. We were told someone would call to give us the delivery day and time. After a week, no one had called. When I called them, I was told the paperwork had been misplaced and they would have to call me back. When no one called me,back, I called again and asked to speak to the manager. He eventually found the miss-filed order and assured me that it would be delivered on Thursday and they would call me with a delivery time. But no one called me. So I called again and was told it would be delivered between 4:00 and 6:00. About 5:30 they called and said they couldn't find my house. They had the written down the wrong house number. I was waiting outside my house watching for a truck with two delivery guys to bring in my furniture. What eventually showed up was one man in an SUV. I said "This must be the wrong order." He said no, this is what they gave him. He unloaded a large box on my driveway. The box said 4-piece patio set. At that point I realized that it came disassembled. No one in the store told us that! I am a very small old lady, so I asked if he could take it up the stairs and into the backyard for me. He said no, he was told to just drop it off. He did take it out of the box (which was falling apart at both ends), but when I asked if he could at least take away the big box, he said no. This is in NO way $100 worth of delivery service! And to make matters even worse - it was only 2 of the 4 pieces of furniture. So then I had to call them back again the next day to get the rest of what we paid for. And find someone to put it together for us. But I will say that the response I got the following day was much better. The lady on the phone said she would take care of things right away, and a few hours later I got a call from our salesman, Tom Iannaco, who was at our house with the missing pieces of furniture (I was not home at the time). He delivered them himself on his lunch break! He also was kind enough to put them safely inside the patio gate. I really appreciate his thoughtfulness, so the second star in this review is for him. read more

Dixieline gave me both an amazing experience and also a terrible experience. I came in with both electrical questions and decking questions in mind. Walking in I was instantly greeted with a smile from the cashier, who I believe was named kale. I had questions about what breakers I needed and the cashier pointed to where I needed to go and called customer service to me. After the great experience with the cashier I was surprised to find that the gentleman that came to help me was rude and seemed to talk down to me the whole time and make me feel like scum. I'm not an electrician but it seemed he expected me to be. Afterwards I was in need of answers for my deck project and I was directed to Michael who answered all of my questions with great knowledge and a smile. He definitely made me forget my experience with the gentleman that helped me before. Overall I would have given this a one star review without the two employees that gave me a 6 star experience. On 2 occasions I purchased cement shed products. Once I drove into the yard there were no employees to be found, with several other customers also waiting for help. Upon loading my own truck still no yard employees to be found. Dixieline stocks a good yard with a wide selection of building materials, but for decades they try cutting corners by under staffing. This is highly different than their advertising of great customer service. Bullshit! read more

So I'm a licensed contractor and this place is like straight out of Hades to do business with. What sucks is I'm good friends with the general manager and I'm not going to bring us up with him because it's not something that can be fixed. But today I'm especially peeved because I went there because I was out of caulking and the material they had was almost 4 years old and basically I wasted $30 and at least 2 hours of my time and now I have to drive all the way back to where I started this morning to go to a home depot, which I also hate.... So this dixieline in la Mesa is selling caulking for $3 a tube more than home Depot and it's 4 year old stock that won't run through your guns so buyer beware read more

Why didn't we check here first? I've been helping a friend do some "code" repairs to sell their home. They needed a fire rated door to the garage. Home Depot & Lowe's only carried 6 panel exterior doors in stock. Flat ones "must be ordered and take two to four weeks to arrive and are considered a custom order."!!! Really?? On the off chance, I checked Dixie Line. "Yes, we have them in stock and for $199." Jeez! That was a lot cheaper than the old faithfuls I'd come to take for granted. This is the 5th or 6th time I have stopped in here for hardware needs. Every time there has been some issue, employee attitude, misinformation, they don't have it in stock, etc. This time we ordered custom, prehung doors as they advised a much shorter turn-around tome than Home Depot. To make a long story short, over 2 mo this later they finally come in....only to have one of the doors built backwards! I asked to speak with a manager when I was this store this morning. We are in a height of the pandemic, and 5 of the 6 workers, when I walked in were not wearing masks, or not wearing them properly. At least 10 customers entered the store without masks on. It's bullshit. The general manager said, all we can do is address it, but clearly he was not interested in addressing it. Your in charge of helping keep people safe, and you just don't care to do it. Your not even concerned that your customers are not safe, but your employees who are actually using their face coverings appropriately... it's a 2 way street. Lame. read more
