We decided to get the crushed granite 3/8". They were able to set up delivery that weekend for us. Very friendly service. Would recommend. For dropoff they come with a truck and just dump it where you'd like. We did the driveway. Just be prepared to deal with it the first day you get it. They have plastic bags that you can take samples of the rocks to see what pops at your house. They also have a printout of how much area 1 cubic yards of rock will cover. When we're ready to buy, they will deliver and can even do two materials at the same time. Had a full trailer load of Chocolate rock 3/4" delivered (this is my second trailer load of this same rock this year). This delivery has WAY too much small pieces and dirt mixed in it. I took a sample and went down to SD Rock supply and was told this is how it is. If I want to work around it and let them know how much I have, they would discuss it with me. OK, have a full trailer load dumped on my driveway, have 2 landscape guys and me using wheelbarrows and shovels, how do we do this?? The first load I received from them wasn't like this. POOR customer service, I wasn't asking for a discount or refund, just wanted cleaner spec rock to replace the small pebbles and dirt. Apparently, my favorite past time is buying landscaping material because I feel like I spend every weekend hauling buckets of it into my backyard-- rock, bark, etc. (You name it, I've hauled it). That being said, San Diego Rock Supply is my go-to for anything and everything landscaping. Why they're awesome: - good selection of items: decomposed granite, gravel, bark, river rock - their options are more unique/attractive than some of the larger home improvement stores - their prices are lower than the big home improvement stores - you can order by the yard/half yard - pick up is easy (if you have a truck). You pop into their office to tell them what you want, then pay, and they dump it into your truck. Would definitely recommend visiting here if you have an upcoming landscaping project. read more

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with a recent order I placed for three-quarter California gold rocks. I received a much smaller size (3/8) than what I ordered. Despite contacting the company and providing video evidence, they refuse to acknowledge the discrepancy or offer a solution. I am very disappointed in their dishonest business practices and lack of customer service. I admit I'm pretty intimidated as a woman going into rock and lumber places. But when I went down to look at the river rock at SD Rock Supply, they could not have been more gracious. They answered my questions without making me feel dumb, and that's a big plus. We had the whole load delivered to Deerhorn Valley (up some major inclines) for a modest amount (I think it was $50, but that was a year ago) I'm writing this now because I'm headed down there tomorrow morning to arrange for a load of gravel and some more river rock. I have to give these guys credit for doing what they do very well. They don't have an unlimited selection, but if you know what you want or if you are looking for the elusive Gorilla Hair Mulch, this is the place. Anthony runs a comfortable place and he is very knowledgeable. For me in addition to allowing me to a lot of questions he had both the hardscape and mulch I was looking for. One reasonable delivery fee was asked and I was off to the races. Both products came in two trailers in one load. They gave me tips on having tarps and how to lay both soft and hardscape. Value, great products great mgt/sales team. I'll be back soon for my next project. Anthony also gives you samples to take home. TJ and AJ really know how to offer great customer service! We were shopping for gravel and had no idea the amount and size we needed. These two took their time and really helped us [a lot] every time we called. They even searched our place on Google Earth to make sure their delivery truck would fit our area, making it a successful delivery. **You go, guys!!!** Unfortunately we ended up not going with them, because they don't sell rocks in bags and we don't have the proper buckets and truck to transport the rocks. They offer delivery, but since the amount of gravel we need is so small, we're gonna buy it in bags and fit them in our car. I was looking for playground sand and e-mailed SD Rock Supply. Chad answered numerous questions and e-mails without a problem and I found the sand I needed at a much cheaper price than anywhere else. Delivery fee (which I did not use) was more than others, but the savings on the price of a yard of sand was more than significant enough to where I would have used them for delivery and will for larger orders in the future. read more
