My first visit to the salon a year ago I paid $130 (including tip) for an all-over toner and haircut. I unfortunately don't think I can afford to go back again even though the service is great. Also, I am not a member of the gym the salon is located inside and, at this latest visit, I told the front desk I was going to the salon, went upstairs, then realized one of the guys from the front desk was following me. When I went to the restroom instead of directly into the salon, he asked where I was going, I told him again I was going to the salon, and he WAITED OUTSIDE the restroom for me to come out and follow me into the salon. Bizarre. I told the salon's receptionist and she was so apologetic and told her manager immediately because this is not the first issue they've had with the front desk. Megan and Wendy are both master hair cutters and stylists. They both continue education and keep up with the latest techniques. At no point was I advised that pricing would differ from my previous services. After my appointment, when I went to check out, I was told the total was $75 higher than what I have consistently paid in the past. I calmly explained that I had not been informed of any price difference. Michelle then mentioned that the salon operates on a tiered pricing system but this was only disclosed after the service had already been completed. Unfortunately, her tone and attitude during this interaction were unprofessional and dismissive, which left me feeling disrespected. As you are likely aware, Virginia law requires that the total price of a service, including any mandatory fees or surcharges, be clearly communicated before the consumer commits to the purchase. Price transparency allows customers to make an informed decision, and in this case, that did not happen. Teesha did a wonderful job with my hair and was very pleasant to work with. However, situations like this not only create frustration for customers, but also place stylists like Teesha in an unfair position as the unexpected additional expense kept me from giving her a tip. Unfortunately, due to this negative checkout experience and the lack of clear communication regarding pricing, I will not be returning to Salon Khouri and will be sharing my experience with others. Never Again! Lovely Salon, but gray roots didn't get covered and the next inch became oddly…read morehighlighted. They said I only had 10% gray. Lizzie said she was going to leave the root color on for 30 minutes. I told her that my gray is getting more resistant and it's usually left on for the maximum amount of time. She checked at 30 minutes and said it was fine. I was concerned, but I trusted her. Also my balayage and highlights on the rest of my hair was darkened!! my hair is below my collarbone. I called and they brought me back in 4 days to redo my roots and use a clarifying shampoo to bring my highlights back. She could see that roots around my ears were very gray. Because they blow dried my naturally wavy hair it was hard to tell, but my highlights looked brighter. It's been 5 weeks and slowly my highlights are darkened again! This has never happened in all the decade I've had my gray roots colored!! Lizzie cut my hair well but didn't cut enough. I told her that if my hair gets heavy, my headaches might come back. She said she liked my length of hair. My hair is starting to feel heavy. She pretty much told me what she liked and what she was going to do and did not ask both times. The first time it was Saturday before Mother's Day so they were swamped and she was rushing like crazy! I hardly got to give input.
