I recently…read moretook a painting to their gallery after discussing and viewing the artwork and the pricing with Tracy Pollack. I was told by Phil (owner)after I arrived that they did not have a client base that would pay the amount needed for the painting but they agreed to hold it for a month. A day later I received a call to pick up the painting because they felt it was a print and not an original. The painting was done by a living close relative who has been a professional, accomplished artist and gallery owner for 50 years with a stellar reputation. I wonder if Senator Alphonse D'Amato thought his portrait was a print while it was being painted? Let's ask the Doubleday family if the paintings in their homes are prints or originals.The Catholic Museum in Washington DC owns a major work of the last supper called "The Morsel". Is that one a print also? If so it took ten years to complete. I was told the painting had too much "sheen and it wasn't on a canvas". The painting is an oil on board. Do they have a clue? They don't even know how to tell an oil painting from a print.
