The theaters are currently swarmed now with Wicked drones (the proletariat indoctrinated with marketing brainwashing) - even saw a pair dressed like the two lead simps. Witches buy popcorn. When I entered my non-Bewitched theater early, I joked to another of the few patrons there in the empty Nuremberg theater "why didn't you come dressed as Görring?" This went over better than my joke to the concession drones, asking if they're seeing a lot of brawls in the Wicked-screenings. Blank dumbfounded stares. Doesn't anyone remember laughter? So: two minor complaints at this evening's prematurely ended evening for my "free" ish flick: 1) A bossy short Dad and his son came and I was sitting in one of their seats - it was early. I cheerily explained I didn't wanted to crowd the person next to me but now I'd move. No big deal. That was until short stuff sternly ordered me to get up. "Get up!" 30 minutes before the film in a half empty theater as I was being unjustifiable polite. I said something lighthearted in response to the Sultan's Command and there were no problems - until after the homunculus sat down and then proceeded to pull up his furry bare stinky feet yogi style into his lap to do what any decent civilized man would do at any movie theater in front of his child and strangers: he began to pick his filthy feet. 2) After I got that bestial grooming tactic out of my mind after twenty minutes of ignoring it in my peripheral vision, then on the other side of me I heard the familiar "sppporitzzzclick" of a Good Ole Boy crackin' up a cold one. This is doubtless illegal - at first I ignored it but after his second beer gassed up the area to a dive bar level stench miasma, I left the theater early. I wondered as I escaped the Hollywood whitewash flick (I was buying Russell Cow's twinkling eyes), whether Mountainside staff would have done a thing if I had reported the primitivist or the drunks. It's why I typically only attend movies that are sparsely populated by the Great Unwashed. Jean Paul Satre said it about - that quote about what other people are.

Before the invention of 15 movie multi-plexes featuring stylized lobbies, stadium seating,…read moresuper-sized reclining chairs, and full menus, we all went to cinemas like The Cranford Theater. The concession stand sells popcorn, candy, and soda. The seats are small and squeak when you shift position. The rows don't have enough room between them for you to squeeze past seated patrons without banging against their knees. The bathrooms look exactly like the bathrooms in a typical 1970s grammar school. I saw another Yelp reviewer observed that no one under age 50 comes here, and I noticed that too. If the only movie theaters you've been to were built this century, then an old cinema like this one would be a shock. I doubt anyone born since 1990 would tolerate sitting for three hours in this dated theater. Parking is a problem. We parked on the street a few blocks away and walked because the tiny lot in front of the movie theater was already full, even though we were about 20 minutes early. Despite being an old theater, the actual sound and screen projection of the movie is fine. This cinema does get the latest releases and shows them at convenient times, including matinees. It's got a prime location downtown within walking distance of many places to buy food and drinks. Look for discount ticket prices on certain days and times.

New seats and carpeting along with other changes have made this a really great theater. They have classic movies once a month and other special events around Halloween and Christmas time. It was great coming to see the original Halloween movie from 1978 they even had a drive in in the back parking lot when the indoor theater was closed in 2020 The Staff are very friendly and helpful. The screens are of a good size for a multiplex crystal clear projection and great sound. Definitely come down and support this movie theater in the wonderful downtown of Cranford New Jersey. Get something to eat in one of the good restaurants before after the movie. Too many independent theaters in New Jersey have closed over the past few years. Definitely come out and support this great theater .Doreen Sayegh along with her father work really hard making this a great place to see a movie.

It was a nice sized theater although my companion who was seeing a separate film at the same time had his theater changed on him without notice and it was into a much smaller room, so staff ended up handing out free ticket comps to patrons in that theater. The front desk was not in use. Instead, a sign was placed directing your to place your ticket orders at the concession stand. As it was early, not much was started and honestly, it was a bit bare. The fountain machines were not working. I will say however that they fried up some hot, delicious chicken wings. It was better than I ever expected and it was fresh. Bathrooms were clean as the theater had just opened. Staff was nice enough. I would bring my family here for an early show to avoid having to hike it over to AMC Jersey Gardens. It's not my first choice, but it would do because of how easy it is to get here.

The concessions are vital to a theater's resources and having many options is great. My only concerns have never been addressed by owners or management. The bathrooms in the lower section are tiny, dark and smelly, even at opening hour. The wait lines are long so you miss a lot mid-movie. The upper section has no bathrooms, but rather porta-potties, which aren't cleaned daily and are very dark at night. Another concern is projector brightness. Screen 1 has the brightest and largest screen and even dark themed movies are quite visible even in the rain. It helps that the projector is housed across the snack bar and very close to the screen. Screens 2 and 3 are projected from much farther away and into smaller screens. It seems that the projectors must be upgraded to liquid cooled laser projectors, whose brightness and clarity isn't affected with a proper lens. Instead in a dark themed movie, all one sees is only what is bright and so you're left guessing what's going on in the screen. This totally ruins the experience of going to the movies. There aren't many outdoor movie screens left and having the opportunity to enjoy one is an amazing experience. I truly hope and pray management addresses these issues, so that this establishment can continue to be enjoyed by generations upon generations!

They are season ticket holders so they get a deal on tickets. I would highly suggest seeing if you qualify for any discounted tickets since they seem to have a number of programs set up (I once got $30 tickets before being younger than 30 years old). They have a close parking lot that you can pay for but we walked from a public lot not too far away. It's a zoo with people existing by foot/ cars trying to leave the lots so just know it may take a bit of time for that short walk if you use one of their lots. They have a little concession counter that you can buy snacks at as well as bathrooms available though we didn't use either. The play itself was spectacular. The entire cast is talented- acting, singing, and dancing were top notch. The sets were well thought out and the music was unbelievable. I love that we have an incredible play house right in our backyard here in NJ! We will definitely be returning!

There are several parking lots and a nearby train station plus a public bus which make this playhouse accessible via a variety of transportation. (The nearest lots fill up fast, so plan your arrival time.) The parking fee is $12 if you use any of the theatre's lots. There was (as is expected) a long entry line. More staff is needed to move the line along more quickly. The elderly and those with mobility challenges were allowed to bypass the long line and gain immediate entry. The lobby sells snacks and drinks that can be purchased before the show or during intermission. There are ushers to help you find your seats and a very friendly young man helped me at the souvenir counter. The lighting and acoustics appeared modern in my limited opinion. The feel of the auditorium was that of the traditional theatre setting with the rich burgundy drapery and snug plush seats. There is an odd pitch to the floor which makes walking to orchestra seating a little awkward because of the slant. So keep this in mind if you are a little shaky on your feet. I have a delightful experience here and I hope to return for future productions.
