Must give our experience 5* because we sat in one of their VIP rooms in the most comfortable reclining seat I've ever sat in in a movie theatre. This was my first time going to the movies since before COVID and my experience today makes me wish I had kept it that way. Firstly, the workers here must be trained on how to move as slowly as possible and act like they don't give one iota about their job. I felt like I was dealing with soulless robots when getting my tickets and concessions. Secondly, the popcorn was disgusting and super stale. I felt like I was eating salted rocks. If you're going to charge $7 for a small bag of popcorn at least have it be fresh. Terrible experience. Made the mistake of only buying one water bottle apparently. Concessions were closed halfway through my movie. I tried to find a working water fountain but none of them had running water. First time at this movie theater and I have to say it is pretty quiet. For a Saturday nite their were no lines for popcorn or candy. It was actually nice. Nestled off rt. 206 if you weren't trying to find it you would never notice it. Lol. Huge parking lot, clean theaters and nice bathrooms. My friend and I watched the movie with any choice of seating in this small theater. Recliner seats with fun buttons to push up and back. Lol. They go pretty far back also, it felt like a ride. Lmao. Definitely will go back to this location for another movie when I'm in the area again. They even had a couple of 3D movies playing. Really enjoyed seeing "the upside" awesome movie. So if you're ever on 206 in Hillsborough check out this quaint movie theater. They also have some memorabilia of movies glassed off which was cool, as you walk around lobby. Happy New Year! 2013. My wife and I went to see Django Unchained last night, since our teenage daughters were out celebrating with friends. So my wife drove to this theater. When I got inside the auditorium I was disappointed to say the least, because the screen was smaller than expected. But what really had me in a tiss was the poor quality of the local commercials playing while the auditorium filled up. BUT, then the previews began to roll. WOW!!! I was truly impressed. Suddenly the image transformed and the sound was crystal clear. I think they use high definition or something because the movie was absolutely beautiful! The movie itself was awesome, but I'd say if you are squimish, you may not want to see it. Being a Quentin Tarantino film you can expect blood and gore. I also think that the prices at the concession stand were lower than at other theaters. I guess the old saying "don't judge a book by it's cover" applies here. Except I'd say don't judge a movie theater by the commercials it's playing. I had a very enjoyable evening at the Hillsborough Cinemas, I'd give this theater two thumbs up. read more

First time at Hillsborough Cinemas and my experience was okay. Not great, not bad, but just okay. The theatre is by no means fancy. In fact, it is pretty old fashioned and outdated.... but oddly enough, I did find it to be kind of charming. They have some interesting displays with movie replicas throughout the theatre. I enjoyed looking at them before sitting down for the movie. The bathrooms weren't the cleanest but nothing too bad. I was a little disappointed because I read another review indicating that the theatre had new, reclining seats. I'm guessing not all of the theater rooms have been updated because the one I was in still had the old fashioned seats. Not ideal but it was fine. Although I would prefer going to a theatre with fully reclining seats, I haven't found many theaters that offer that in the area. I've been to the Bridgewater AMC dine in theatre and I must say I prefer Hillsborough Cinemas over it. I would probably come back to Hillsborough Cinemas mainly due to lack of a better option and convenience. read more

Hillsborough Cinemas has long been one of my favorite theaters. When I'm back home, this is the place I go to. I'm not sure about now, but they used to offer $5.50 movies before 6pm on any movie, even if it came out the day before. That was a steal. After 6pm, it was around $10 bucks. The seating is stadium seating and you won't have trouble viewing the big screen. Do avoid Friday nights though because that's when you'll get the entire high school there loitering and well... being high schoolers. I would recommend coming in the afternoons when it's less crowded. Food is typical like any other movie theater. Popcorn is $5, drinks are $5 etc. Cliff notes: Ample parking, good selection of movies. This place has never disappointed. read more

I usually go to this movie theater with my boyfriend and I really enjoy this one. Yes, it is old and out of date, but the prices are cheaper and it's not bombarded with tons of people. I like the fact that the prices are cheaper! There isn't anything spectacular about this place, no IMAX or 3D, which doesn't bother me a bit because I don't normally like paying for them anyways. It has everything a big normal AMC or Regal would have just older. Plus, the seats are really comfy!!! My favorite part, they're comfy and can recline. The worst part of this place is that you need to put a bag over the back of the seat so you dont get lice. My daughter got it twice which is why this place is our last choice. I mainly come here to buy popcorn. On that note, if you ask for a tub of popcorn and they have they "souvenir" tubs they will not let you get the real tub. Why is this an issue? The souvenir tubs hold less popcorn and the price is still the same. The staff aren't too bad and aside from the lice issue (which is big) they keep the place fairly clean of popcorn and soda spills. Bathrooms could use a little more attention however they are not as bad as an outside gas station bathroom. read more

This may be the worst theater I've ever been to. I love the movies and movie-going experience and relish the opportunity to enjoy the big screen with friends. Any time. Anywhere. And typically the silver screen is enough to keep me interested, even if the location isn't in the best condition. So I was really surprised to find out just how bad a movie theater could be this past weekend when my fiancee and I chose to watch "Furious 7," which was playing in theater 3. When we sat down, there was a musk in the air that suggested a need for a general update. But what really unnerved us was the screen itself. The stretched fabric had a series of bulging protrusions that made the moving image distort in different directions. It was most apparent when shots of the sky were shown. It really felt like we were watching the movie in some crappy dorm room. We sat in the theater for as long as we could until it became way too distracting. About 10 minutes into the movie we walked out and asked about a later showing in another room. Well, the next showing would have been in Room 4. And there we found the curtain falling from the top of the screen! We couldn't accept the poor conditions. They gave us our $8/ticket back, and we drove over to AMC Bridgewater where for $11/ticket we had an amazing experience, which included great beer and wine and a beautiful picture. The $3 difference, it seems, matters immensely. read more

When it comes to theaters in the area, this one is probably the best to go to. You're not paying for the extra 3D features that other theaters seem to cram into ticket prices, and while the concession prices are still decently high, at least they're fair. The theater over in Manville only lets you refill a jumbo tub once per night, whereas boro lets you refill infinite times! And while the selling of DVDs is tacky, there are some gems that can be found. Overall, best theater in the area, despite the fact that it was old and outdated when it first opened. read more

I have grown up hanging out with friends at this theater and have watched it grow over the years. Ticket prices are pretty reasonable, though there are more and more 3D showings nowadays which bring up the price. The refillable buckets are definitely the way to go and the popcorn is delicious. The newest feature is the reclining and more comfortable "VIP" seating. These seats are only available for certain showings, but they offer a more comfortable viewing experience as well as a nice bonus of being able to choose your seating ahead of time. Not sure they're worth the extra cost for some movies, but if the movie is one you are sure to enjoy, definitely consider it! read more

This is definately an older/smaller theater. We happened upon it by chance one night and were pleased with the experience. The ticket prices run about a dollar less per head compared to other larger local theaters. Their food prices run in similar fashion as well. The theaters aren't shoe boxes, but are by no means huge. They honestly remind me of the theaters in the 90's. The seats are comfortable and recline. The place is clean and has several bathrooms, all located close to each theater. This place is great for kids! Its size makes it easier to navigate with your children and they have really neat displays lining the halls. There are tons of characters abd movie memorabilia in glass cases scattered up and down the hallways. Everytime we go I notice something else. One other plus is that we have yet to wait in line to buy tickets here and the theaters are never overpacked where you're grabbing at straws to find a place to sit. Drawbacks: they don't always have all new releases. Sometimes you have to wait a week or two for them to get the movie in. On the flip side, if you wanted to see a movie and hadn't gotten out to the theater right away, chances are they still have it in when our other local theaters have already dropped it from their line up. read more

This place has seriously gone down hill. We don't even like coming unless we r short on time. The theaters are gross they smell musty. It's always very humid inside. My 5 year-old grandson and I had a much anticipated movie date to see Despicable Me 2, on the 4th of July. We arrived for the 2pm showing, paid $16 for tickets, went to the concession stand to order 2 bottles of water and some type of non-chocolate candy for my grandson who has a peanut allergy. Hard to believe, but all of the candy shelves were empty except for a few boxes of 2 kinds of chocolate, both of which had the warning that they may contain peanuts! I was then told that they had NO bottles of water, but they could offer me one six ounce cup of tap water for free or their regular size cup with tap water for $3! I was astounded that a movie theater that does not allow you to bring-in your own snacks or water, and where I would also assume would have a stocked concession stand for a big summer holiday weekend, would then try to charge me $3 for a cup of tap water! When I asked if I would be allowed back in if I ran across the street to Walgreen's for water and Skittles, I was told "NO!" As we were leaving the theater after the movie, hungry and thirsty, my grandson needed to use the restroom. I took him to the Women's Room where there was a line out the door. When we finally got in the door, I could see that only one of the stalls was being used. When I asked the women in line why that was, I was told that there was no toilet tissue in any of the other stalls! Paper towel dispensers were also all empty! Finally, to add insult to injury, upon exiting the women's room we took the wrong turn down the hallway and came upon 2 fully-stocked vending machines, both filled with icy-cold bottles of Dasani water! How insulting to know, that in order to make $3 for a cup of tap water, I wasn't told about the vending machines! I will NEVER return to the Hillsborough Cinema after this experience and will drive the few extra miles to the Reading Cinema in Manville! read more

This theater is much better than Manville, it is $2 cheaper a ticket, concessions are way cheaper than Manville, theaters are nicely kept, and movie memorabilia adds a nice touch. They even have VIP seating now which is awesome, similar seating to the AMC in Bridgewater, and the price of the VIP seating is still LESS EXPENSIVE than a normal seat at Manville. I have no idea what the other reviewers are talking about with it being "run down looking" and "gross" this place is the best in the area and I would recommend it to anyone any time. I've came here since 2008 its right around the corner from my house and my parents warehouse. the good thing about it here is the parking space -- lots of them. this is my first time being in a theater where the seating is like the ones in the New York City movie theaters -- which is big. I usually sit in small theaters rooms where the separate the left and right sides and the room is really small. like your basement but with higher ceilings and a huger screen. so I never go here because of that. id rather pay $10 to go sit in bridgewater movie theater and order a drink there. but because my friend invited me I went with her and this was my first time being in the big room. the screen was big and the seats werent separated from left and right but they were standard theater seats like the ones I'm used to. so I definitely like that better than the basement seating. bathrooms are iffy. and I never buy theater popcorn cause i don't feel like theyre fresh. but while I was watching the movie, a couple people in the back were gnawing on popcorn and it smelled really good and fresh read more

Me and my friends live nearby and we really wanted to see a new movie that had just came out. We had been to this theater many times before with no problems, so we thought it would be a good idea. We bought the tickets, and went into the theater. Before we could even take our sits, one of the workers walks in and tells us that' "A parent or guardian has to be in the theater or you'll have to leave." Me and my friends were freaked out, since we watched a lot of R-rated movies at the theater before, so we called one of my friends dads to come and pick us up. Another worker was holding the door open waiting for us to leave. We stood there for a while and the workers were giving us dirty looks. We left, and I don't think we'll be coming back. Moral of the story: don't be a fucking snitch. We just wanted to watch the movie! read more
