Our house sits on an elevated corner lot and is surrounded by an old stone wall (~145 feet long and…read more~5 feet high) which was in serious need of repair. The wall was dirty with missing/loose stones throughout, buckling in certain areas, and the mortar along the entire wall holding the stones wall was failing. The stones/wall appeared to be from the original build (~1920's) and I could see the beauty through the mess, however I needed to find someone who could repair and restore the wall to her original glory. Thankfully I found Michael at Old English Construction. Given the scope of the projected I had several companies come out and quote the project. From the start Michael was upfront and honest in his assessment from the materials required, timeframe, process, and what I could expect when they were done. He provided a competitive quote but beyond the dollars and cents I trusted him in repairing and restoring the wall. Throughout the entire process Michael was onsite every day explaining to me what work had been completed, what still needed to be done, and areas they were focused on. He allowed me to ask any questions I had an answered all my questions daily. He consulted with me on all material choices to make sure I was happy with the look of the end product. The communication was excellent. He and his crew cleaned up at the end of each day and left the property clean which was appreciated by me and the neighbors so they could use the sidewalks while the crew wasn't onsite. Michael and his team completed the job on time and on budget, which given the amount of work they completed was no small feat. I am absolutely thrilled with the finished product; the wall looks better than the day it was built, and Old English Construction truly restored the stone to it's full beauty. Jose did an awesome job completing the indoor brick repairs at my townhouse. I needed a brick…read morefireplace hearth rebuilt and there were two end bricks loose on another brick fireplace hearth. Jose came to the house on a weekend to take a look and gave me a very reasonable estimate that was $1400 less than the other estimate I received. Jose was able to schedule the work shortly after I accepted his estimate, and he showed up on time the day of the work. He and his co-worker were polite and took appropriate measures to protect the area outside my house and the areas inside my house so that there was no damages, using shoe covers, plastic sheeting, and painters tape. Jose finished the inside brick repairs in a few hours, and as they were leaving he noticed that the brick step outside my front door had some mortar missing. They said they were going to fix that at no charge, and they did! I am very pleased with the work that Jose did at my house and the care he took he completing the work. Messaged a few contractors here on Yelp for last minute projects we were looking to get done before…read morewe rented out our townhome, and Jose from Hernandez Contracting was the first to respond to my message. He was able to come by our place on the same day for an in-person quote and after deciding that we wanted to work with him, he was at our place ready to work the very next morning! He said he was able to come by to start work at 9am the next morning, but he was there not only on time but a bit earlier by around 8:30am! We had started off with 3 projects for him, which he quoted us for, but I ended up asking him if he could do more little projects, and he was able to take on anything we asked of him. He's awesome, he was even so respectful to take off his shoes when he worked inside our home. The projects he was able to complete for us was: 1) carpentry work in our garage (to secure some previous work done before we bought our townhouse, there were some unsecured wooden pillars barely holding up a wooden built-in storage shelf). Jose even told us how he would make it even more secure by adding more pillars where it would hold more weight on the shelf and be more secure; 2) filled up a hole in our wall, he was able to patch it up with drywall and matched the exact paint and by the time he was done and paint dried, you would never have known it was there! 3) he installed a new storm door for us, our previous storm door had a broken door handle, and Jose was able to install a brand new storm door that we had purchased, he even made sure that the storm door we bought was the correct measurement. 4) Jose installed new hardware on our kitchen cabinet doors, they were all aligned! He took the project off our hands. 5) upon request he was able to fix our closet door that wasn't aligned properly, so it didn't shut! When we bought the house it was like that, Jose fixed it! 6) he glued & aligned some wooden pieces coming off that were framing our attic crawl space. 7) he went above and beyond to find some new window screens that we couldn't locate locally, so he drove to another state to look for it the very same day! He wasn't able to locate it, so he ordered the correct sized window screens and installed them as soon as he could after it came in the mail! He was able to get most of the work done in just 2 days! Minus the window installation, which was done as soon as possible, once he special ordered it and after it arrived! His preferred payment method is through Zelle. Jose is an amazing handyman! He is punctual, very reliable, kept his word when he said he would come by and do our projects, and did great work in a timely manner. I would recommend him to family & friends, and we will definitely work with him again.
