New cabinets, quartz countertops, new appliances

Mauricio power washed and stained my deck and fence. He also power washed all the concrete in my backyard. It is all completely transformed. I couldn't be happier! Every time I need something done on my house, I call him. He also put in a new front door and back door. He is dependable and does incredible work. Highly recommended!!

Mauricio and his team did my kitchen and bathroom remodel and completely satisfied! Before that, he did smaller jobs for me such as replacing all and installing new prehung doors (steel entry door and all bedroom/ bathroom doors with new locksets), baseboard, trim, and closet doors. For my kitchen and bathroom, I did most of the demolition then it was all Mauricio and he took it from there. A bit of new framing and subfloor repair was needed which was also done. Other things that he and his team did: relocate a few heater ducts/ vents ,new shelving in closets, and interior painting. Mauricio is easy to work with and let me know what works, what doesn't work, and why it won't work. He is precise with all his work whether it is with miter angles, leveling, sanding, just to name a few. He definitely does not take any shortcuts and cleaned up well after every work day. For all the jobs he has done, I puchased/ ordered all the parts, brought them home from the store or had them delivered to my house and he did the install. Cost: I personally prefer to pay for quality work, Mauricio provides top quality work!

Mauricio did a great job again from start to finish. He is very detailed and does high-quality work.

    Kitchen renovation

I was looking at several contractors to do a kitchen renovation. I also wanted to replace my floor tiles in my front door area. Level Carpentry was the one that was the easiest to communicate with as they responded to my messages promptly. Mauricio of Level Carpentry visited my place and took measurements. As it was my first time doing a renovation and working with a general contractor, he walked me through the process. He made sure I understood that his job would only be installation and that I would purchase all the materials (cabinets, countertop, backsplash, cooktop, microwave, and floor tiles). He was very straightforward and reasonable throughout the entire project. After Mauricio of Level Carpentry visited my place and took measurements, he sent me a formal estimate via e-mail. The estimate included the pay schedule, which was very straightforward and easy to understand. I saw that other contractors were charging much more and didn't seem as easy to work with. From just talking to Mauricio, I trusted that he could get the job done and would work well with me and my husband. I signed the estimate online. Mauricio started the project right away. I appreciated that Mauricio and his team were very respectful throughout the project. I also appreciated that Mauricio answered any questions and addressed any concerns I had. He did it appropriately and professionally. He respected what I wanted, and he also gave his opinions based on his experience, which I trusted. I also really appreciated that Mauricio took his time to make sure he did everything right. He also told me about any additional work they had to do that was not included in the estimate, and the additional costs were reasonable. My only gripe is that the project took longer than expected (2-week estimate versus about a month and a half actual length of project). The estimated time was not in the formal written estimate given by Level Carpentry, so I couldn't hold them to it, but I didn't want to rush the project as there really was no need to. I told Mauricio about this after the project was completed. He apologized, but like I told him, there was no need to rush, and I would have told him during the project if I really wanted it done in 2 weeks. I wanted just what he wanted - to get the job done right! If the extra few weeks meant the job was done right for a kitchen I can enjoy forever, I'm good with that! Thanks to Level Carpentry, we have a kitchen and a new foyer floor that exceeded my expectations! I told my husband that Mauricio and his team at our house sort of became family, and I missed them when the project was done. Haha! When I save more money, I might hire him again for fence work!

Mauricio helped us install wood paneling throughout our kitchen and bedroom. He did an awesome job and was very adaptable to a number of challenges that arose, like the fact that floors and ceilings mostly aren't level in SF! He also managed to find baseboards and the perfect stain to patch the panels. We love how it turned out and highly recommend working with him

Mauricio did wonderful work on a complicated job replacing the exterior trim around a window. I especially liked that he was willing to bid the project. It involved cutting curved pieces of wood to match the original window. His communication was great, he showed on exactly on time, did the work on schedule, and everything was perfect. He has a ton of equipment so I expect he can do just about anything. Thanks!

    Marine grade plywood panels

If you want an experienced carpenter to do a small or big job this is the company to chose. Mauricio replaced the rotted wood frame and rotted panels on my porch in Pacifica. It's a small job but he believes once you see the quality of his workmanship you will not hesitate to hire him or refer him for bigger jobs. He does interior work as well as exterior work. He used high quality lumber from Goldenstate Lumber in Brisbane and he is a very meticulous person. He replaced the rotted 1/4" particle board panels with 1/2" marine grade plywood and replaced the rotted 2'x4' pine studs with pressure treated 2'x4' studs. He carved out a small section of rotted support wood frame under a window so he did not have to replace the whole window. That saved a lot of time and expense. Mauricio is full of information and he imparts his knowledge in laymen's terms so you can understand it. He cleaned up and removed all debris when he finished. They say you live and learn. Well I took a chance and have learned that if you want a carpenter to do a good long-lasting beautiful job this company would be a great choice. I have decided to adopt Mauricio as my "go-to guy" when I need to have my fence replaced or future carpentry work. He is reserved, but has a good sense of humor. I like him. I think you will like him too.

His craftsmanship and dedication to doing the job right were truly impressive. I reached out to them via their Instagram and texted them per the instructions on the website. They don't answer the phone. Correspondence via texts was painfully slow with 2-3 days taking to respond to one text at a time and to make a decision on whether they wanted to take a straightforward bathroom remodel job. To make things even worse, they asked if I was working with a designer as one of their requirements. So Fancy. Due to their unresponsiveness, when pressed to get back to me if they want to take a project, they said they are not interested. So much for providing unmatched customer service. A contractor's responsiveness is a direct reflection of their organizational skills and how they will manage your project. Poor communication early on is a leading indicator that milestones will be missed, crews will not show up, and the job will drag on. Stay away from these guys.

My home is an upper unit of a 2 unit, 115 year old building in the Castro. You can see from the photos below that Gregory did a beautiful professional job on my project, working with the architect/designer who had suggested the built-ins, and responding to my particular requests. Fitting new cabinetry into an old wooden building required a lot of customization during installation, and Gregory was definitely up to the task - as mentioned by other reviewers he is easy to work with, creative, flexible, with an "incredible eye." He did all the installation and finishing himself (with a helper). To be fair, it took Gregory longer than he had estimated to make and install the cabinetry, but it was definitely worth the wait and he was very responsive and obliging throughout the process. The quality and value were top notch; the cost was about 50-60% that of the estimates I received from online cabinetry firms I contacted. Definitely a 5 star experience - thank you Gregory!

The bookcases on each side of the center chest piece was his idea too and it was such a clever use of space and it looks great. We were quoted $7,850. Remarkably, the windowbox was built and installed in less than a week. Unfortunately, the attention to detail in execution was poor: * the seams between the four main pieces aren't properly aligned, producing unsightly and rough-feeling edges * many of the edges were cut in a way which badly chipped the veneer * one of the hinged openings is badly misaligned, resting several mm above the surface * a drawer face was delivered with a stray drill hole * one of the main front faces was delivered with a large gouge * one of the drawers was designed to hold a CPAP machine; Alex carefully measured it, but delivered a drawer which didn't fit it * the drawer faces were attached with finishing nails rather than hidden joinery; the nail holes were then covered with poorly matching filler * the desk slabs were returned to us with gouges in the main surface, a 2" divot taken out of an edge face, and unfinished sides Alex told us that the misalignments are because our floor isn't level--which is fine, but the other two woodworkers we've worked with carefully shimmed their bases into place on-site so that everything would be level. Alex told us that finishing nails were necessary to attach the drawer faces, but another woodworker who built ash veneer cabinets for us produced beautiful results with hidden joinery. We sent Alex a list of 13 issues with photos; Alex gamely told us that he'd send one of his woodworkers to fix all but one issue. After a month delay with several reschedulings on both sides, the woodworker came. He fixed the two issues with the desk slabs, but in the process he also partially removed its surface finish, without comment and without offering to refinish it. He said he didn't know how to fix the other issues, and we were left with unfinished desks we still couldn't install. At this point, Alex stopped responding to messages. I gave up and refinished the desk slabs myself, which took about five hours. We planned to put a cushion on half the windowbox and leave the other half exposed, to enjoy the wood tone, but because the execution quality on the windowbox was poor, we decided to cover the whole thing with cushions instead. They meant well, I think, and they really did try. They did deliver roughly the windowbox we wanted, though with a low level of craftsmanship. I think they just don't have the skills/experience needed to execute this project well, and we didn't realize that before hiring them.

Replacement of six worn dining chair seat cushions and making the chairs more stable and safe. The mohair chair backs were in good shape, and glued to the frame, so we wanted to keep them, though the seats had no cushion left and needed replacement. Alex closely matched the mohair backs- as he said, "a little different style but you'll like it!" We do! The cost was very reasonable and both projects were done in less than a week, with pickup and delivery. It was a pleasure working with him: great communicator, knowledgeable, and honest. Highly recommend.
