My friend and I needed a massage after our long car ride down to North Myrtle Beach and decided to check this place out. We were so glad we discovered it! We elected for a 60'min couples massage and 30 min foot reflexology treatment. The massage itself was a combination of techniques that proved to be very effective in addressing my sore back and feet. I felt amazing after but it's definitely not a massage you would fall asleep in. It's more of a therapeutic, physical stress relief and stretching experience. I especially liked the head, neck and face massage. The hot stones were a nice inclusion by my masseuse. The vibe of this place transports you to somewhere with Thai or Indonesian inspiration. The waiting area and service rooms are very calming and beautiful. If I come back again, I would try their Ashiatsu massage as I hardly ever see that offered. Very upset with several things. I have been going to this place for over ten years and it used to be great. The last year or two every time I go something goes wrong, I hate that they leave the door open when you are getting a massage. I feel extremely exposed and even had people at the door talking to the woman massaging me about booking or paying. 08/01/2025 We called ahead to book appointments and were told the price would be $45 for a 30-minute deep tissue massage with cash, or $50 with card. Scheduling was easy and they got us in quickly, which we appreciated -- but unfortunately, the rest of the experience was extremely disappointing. There were three of us getting massages, and each one left a lot to be desired: First massage: The lady was nice, but she stayed on one painful spot for too long, which made it uncomfortable. Overall, a 7/10. Second massage: Way too rough. I could feel her nails scratching me and her elbow was digging in painfully. She also left the door cracked open, exposing me to people in the lobby -- extremely unprofessional and made me very uncomfortable. 5/10. Third massage: Very gentle -- so much so that it didn't feel like a massage at all. There was barely any pressure, though the lady was kind. 6/10. We were rushed when changing into the silk towel, and communication was difficult throughout the visit. The worst part was the payment process. The first payment went through fine. For the second, we tried to use a card but it wouldn't go through, and instead of helping us calmly, the lady got upset and demanded cash. For the third, we paid $60 in cash for a $45 service, and she refused to give us the correct change. We had to argue and do the math for her -- only then did she give us the $15 back, clearly frustrated. We did try to leave a tip, but when we handed it to her, she refused to accept it because she said it wasn't enough. She kept repeating "tip, tip" and demanded more money. It was incredibly awkward and made us feel pressured and disrespected. As we left, one of the staff even walked behind us, watching us leave -- it felt very uncomfortable and intrusive. Bottom line: We would NOT recommend this place. The service was inconsistent, the staff was aggressive about tips, and they tried to shortchange us. If you don't speak up, they will absolutely try to take advantage of you. Horrible, unprofessional experience from start to finish. read more

I get massages often and this was by far one of the worst ones I've ever gotten. I asked for a regular massage. The guy tried to pull out hot stones. I said no. He tried to place them on me and I sat up and said no, again. He tried to do a Thai massage which involves stretching and I said no, yet he kept trying to stretch me and it hurt and was extremely uncomfortable. It was painful. Always ask for a female when making your appointment. i had the unfortunate experience of having a male therapist. He fell asleep when he was massaging me! I had to wiggle my body to wake him up. And he focused mainly on my butt. I told him I wanted my back, neck, and legs.. He focused 75 percent on the visit on my butt. while he was massaginb me with his elbow he fell asleep not once, but twice! And he kept sniffing like he was sick with the flu. The experience was good itself while getting the massage. Several times I was cringing because of the pain. Now, 2 days later, I'm still super sore. The massage was $70 and I paid with my card. She said "$30 dollar tip nice." And she just stared at me. So kindly felt obligated to pay the $100. So I paid. COVID is obviously bad right now and she coughed and had trouble breathing the entire time. Really hoping and praying she didn't have it or else I'm just screwed. This was the BEST massage I have ever had... and I've had a lot. Even a hot stone massage at a spa in Greece! And this place beats that! I walked in and was immediately impressed by the serene setting, helpful lady at the desk, clean restroom, and hard to beat pricing. I walked in and asked for a quick 30 minute massage. I didn't even ask for a specific one, certain pressure, etc. She just did her thing, and it was great! She even included hot stones and hot towel. Usually, I will get deep tissue in order to target knots and sore muscles. However, its always so painful during the massage and leaves me so sore. Instead of the usually massage envy deep tissue style massage, Linda targeted pressure points and muscle groups as well as knots. The massage felt good and relaxing while also working on knots. This place was very nice and the staff was very kind and accommodating. I choose the deep tissue massage to recover from a few rounds of golf and they really loosened me up. Had an appointment today, 6/22/22 at 2:30pm. Upon arrival they were ready for me. The lobby is clean and elegant. Very relaxing!! Hiedi was my Massage Therapist. She was professional and was very skilled in massage. I mentioned that stretching would be a great addition and she added it to our session. The reviews hold true about the staff "hustling for tips" I can only wonder wether or not they are being taken advantage of on the rates by an owner and not receiving the compensation they deserve for their time or if they are intentionally making people uncomfortable for profit... either way they did a good job but I will try another place most likely before being a repeat customer. read more

A quality massage parlor, in my experience. I've visited JG twice now, and each occasion was great. The booking was easy and flexible, and the location was right off the main drag. Likewise, the parlor itself was exceptionally attractive, with handsome stone-faced construction and a pleasantly decorated interior. As for the massage: couldn't have been better, nor with a more reasonable price. Both times I went, my therapist was skilled, friendly, and communicative (no language barrier), and I came away with a fantastic massage. My mother and I scheduled a 1hr massage for our girls' day while mom was visiting from New Hampshire. We arrived for our appointment only to be told that we "missed the call from the owner" where they had rescheduled our appointment to two hours later in the day. Not only did this change not work for our schedule, no message or communication was ever left regarding the change. We had planned our day around our 11am appointment. When we explained that no one had ever spoken to us about the change or left a message, the employee was quite rude and argumentative, repeating over and over that our arrival two hours early was essentially our fault because we "missed the call." Again - there was no message left, nor did anyone from JG Massage speak to us about the change at any time. The employee then showed us the calendar with our appointment clearly written in as the first appointment of the day at 11am, and said "well the owner called you, you have to come back at 1pm." At this point, another customer entered and indicated his appointment time - 11am - and was checked in immediately, despite our reservation being the first entry on the calendar. It appeared to us that our appointment was moved for this other customer without communication or consent. At this point, I asked the employee to have the owner call me to discuss this incident, as we were very upset. It's been two days and I have not received a call. Despite the other great reviews (which led me to book our appointment with JG Massage in the first place), our experience was extremely disappointing and. We had planned on a relaxing mother-daughter day together in the limited time we had during mom's visit - instead we left frustrated and angry. I literally drove two hours to get there for my massage. I was not sure what to expect as there are not a whole bunch of reviews. It was super clean, very elegant, and to top it off, I had probably one of the best massages ever! I am accustomed to high end spas (Mandarin Oriental, Ritz, Omni, Caudalie, etc.), and the techniques, the expertise and the care were all exceptional. Sandy kept asking if the pressure was ok. She also asked if I wanted the table warmer on. When I told her where some places were very sore, she worked on the areas more. What more can you ask for? It was wonderful! If it was closer to where I lived, I would be there at least weekly. I highly recommend booking a massage there! I can't wait to go back. As for the negative dated reviews, I have no idea what the drama is for. When you make a reservation, communicate the first time by saying, you are coming. That's it. Of course I was concerned with COVID restriction/conditions but was relieved to see proper steps taken for my visit. Requested. 90-minute, deep-tissue massage and was NOT disappointed. Proper allotment of time was spend on each portion of the 90-minutes ($100) with a GREAT surprise of 10-minutes per foot. It was heaven. The pressure was spot on and I felt like a million bucks after the quick 90-minutes. Will definitely make this an annual event. HIGHLY recommend JG Spa.
