We came here on a weekday afternoon and called ahead. We asked for ashiatsu massages. We were told that this location of the two was more quiet but we still heard some motorcycles. My massage had a lot of rubbing while my partner's massage was strong and she got to the knots he had some arm pain afterwards from the overstretching. My massage was a little off because he wasn't going to do the ashiastsu without me asking and even then I had to speak to the front desk person about it. So it can be difficult for them to take note of what you requested on the phone. They did turn someone away for not calling ahead so it's important to call them if you don't want to wait. (I'm posting this for both locations, as they are only a few miles apart, have the same ownership, and the staff is somewhat interchangeable) When getting to a new town for a new assignment, finding a good massage place is one of the trickiest things to do. Especially when it comes to Asian massage, because we all know some of the places are less about the massage and more about the ending. Tao's is definitely about the massage. The locations are neat and clean. The therapists are very good technically, and generally, genuinely care. I typically get a 90 minute ashiatsu. As with any massage, the therapist warms you up and feels for any especially tight spots. (I'm 6'2", 260, and like lifting heavier weights, so everything is always tight.) At some places, the therapist literally just walks on you. Here the therapists actually use their weight and technique to work the knots out. Sometimes they use the whole foot, and other times the heel, ball, or even their toes. In short, after a few minutes, they have gotten the bulk of the work done. Even though the women are fairly petite, they are able to delivery a very deep massage. They are not bashful about kneeling on the table and using their weight to get the knots out. After having gotten the heavy lifting done, they come back and use gentler techniques to relax the muscles (and you), and finish with some stretching. Yes, it is a few dollars more a hour than Massage Everywhere, but it is a far superior experience. read more

So, this isn't the relaxing kind of massage; it's more like the "Sweet Lort please don't hurt me" kind, BUT it was awesome. If you workout, this is all you never knew you needed. My back was like snap, crackle, pop and pop again. And I have learned if you are the least bit modest keep your undies on bc you are gonna be turned into a pretzel and well... things won't stay covered. I found Tao massage by all their good reviews on yelp and trip advisor so I decided to give them a try. I was looking for a good deep tissue massage and was weary since it's hard to find a good deep tissue massage these days. The woman at the front desk was very friendly and she greets you with a warm welcome. I arrived with my friend and booked a couples massage. We waited about 20 minutes until two massage therapists were available. Once the massage began I was asked how hard the pressure I wanted. I requested hard and it started out very mellow. About 15 minutes into the massage her touch was extremely hard and painful at times but I loved it. Turned out to be a wonderful massage and massage therapist was beautiful. While visiting Myrtle Beach, I decided I wanted a massage after 8+ hours in the car and traffic. I found Tao on Yelp, and between the positive reviews and since they were one of the few places in the area offering massage on Sunday, I made an appointment. The lobby is large and spacious, and well lit. The lobby and rooms were very clean as well, which is always a plus. Due to other commitments, I only had time for a 60 minute Ahsiatsu massage, but wish I'd had time for the 90. As others have noted, these ladies know what they are doing, and what they do is not a light rub-down with lotion.. There's no warm-up period... they simply dive right in with the deep tissue work. I was with Cei Cei, and she found knots in spots I wasn't aware of, and there were some points we could hear the knots themselves loosening as she worked on them. Not only is she skilled with her feet, she used her hands, elbows, forearms, and knees as well. And all felt wonderful. She also included a couple stretches (arms, legs, and back) as well. If you go, prepare to be manipulated, twisted, and kneaded for the duration of your appointment. Oh, as an added bonus, instead of the Dixie cup of water many chain places give you, Tao gives you a small bottle (8 ounces) of water afterwards. I truly felt better afterwards, and will certainly go back next time I am in the Myrtle Beach area. read more

According to Google maps, this appeared to be the only spa offering foot massage in the area. Called first to make sure they were available and I was told to go to a different address. It seems they run two locations but only one was open. I requested a 30-minute foot massage followed by a 1-hour body and I was seated in an Adirondack style patio chair. A therapist came out with a foot soak bucket and after she proceeded to massage my feet with them in her lap. Along with not having the typical foot massage chairs they also did not have ottomans to rest feet on while they were massaged, very odd. Ironically they had left magazines in the foot massage area, one of which was for massage spa equipment, I left it open to an ad for proper foot massage chairs on the chair next to me. The foot massage chairs were in the lobby area which was quite large and appeared it was previously some type of retail store that they didn't really put much effort into remodeling. During my foot massage, the manager walked outside and a couple came in that had an appointment, my therapist had to ask them to wait in the small chairs near where I was getting my foot massage. So on top of getting this awkward foot massage with my feet in the girl's lap, I now had an audience. Eventually, the manager returned with another employee and my audience was shown to a room. The foot massage was good but I was kind of glad when it was over and I was taken to a room as well. The body massage was also good but when she was done she just left. Before I turned over she had not brought in a hot towel to wipe the oil off so I had expected her to return with hot towels. Waited at least 5 minutes before I got up and wiped myself off with what they used to cover me on the table before I got dressed. Not sure if I would return to this place again. Definitely would not come back for a foot massage unless they got the proper chairs. read more

Just got a couples massage yesterday. The room was really cold. My wife is 4 months pregnant and had a horrible experience. They didn't give a proper prenatal massage. Her back is in pain. She felt awkward as they moved the covers and exposed her body most of the time. When the room is cold you don't want body parts that are not being massaged exposed. I got the Asiago massage. Enjoyed the different massage technique. However they didn't get to my feet and time was up. Good timing and warmer room would make this experience much better. read more
