As a customer who walked in before anyone else, I respectfully waited at the counter and placed my order. The employee who shares an ethnic background with the next customer who entered ignored me completely and prioritized him, despite the fact that I was there first and already being served. This wasn't a simple oversight. It was deliberate, clear, and hurtful. I was overlooked and treated as if I didn't matter. The only difference between me and the other customer? I'm not Asian. That's what made this so painful and personal. Let me be clear I respect all cultures. I work in an area that is predominantly Asian and have always treated everyone with kindness and professionalism. But respect must go both ways. What happened today was a disgrace not just to me, but to the very values this country is supposed to stand for equality, fairness, and dignity for everyone. To the owner of this store: you need to seriously evaluate who you hire and what kind of environment you're creating. When your staff chooses who to serve based on race or familiarity rather than fairness, it sends a message that some people matter more than others. That's not just bad business it's discrimination. To those in the community regardless of background I urge you to hold businesses accountable. This kind of behavior doesn't just hurt one person, it divides communities and fosters resentment where there should be understanding. After flashing my card over the device and then putting in my pin number i glanced above me. Not four feet above me was a camera that was pointed down on the counter. It recorded both my number off my debit card and my pin number that I manually put into the device. Since no one was around me at that time I didn't think that I should need to be careful when putting my Pin number into the device. When I asked the owner why a camera was recording at such a close proximity she told me it was to record cash transactions. I then told her that it was also recording both my debit card number and my pin number. She told me the camera would not be able to see my numbers. I then informed her that I am an electrician. That I have installed many cameras in the past and know that a camera four feet away can see every detail. She then got defensive and started raising her voice. I went home and cancelled my card.
