I came here today for my first ever full-body massage, gifted to me by my mom, who visited the other day and had a great experience that she wanted to pass along. She made an appointment for me and even adjusted the timing of it the day-of. J Relaxing Massage was very flexible with scheduling, and they accept walk-ins. There were two employees that I noticed in the dimly lit interior, with its dark walls, trickling water sounds and spa music. There isn't any seating when you walk in, just two massage chairs, mini fridge with water bottles, and a front desk with a tray of candy. When I left, a customer was receiving a massage at the chairs, which made the location of the chairs feel kind of awkward. Hopefully the customer still felt relaxed despite listening to me pay for my massage. I was led to one of the back rooms, which had a massage table with linens and a basket for my personal items. The masseuse was an older lady, and she was very strong and capable. There wasn't much verbal guidance for what to do or what to expect, but she was kind. The splash of cold oil to the back was the most jarring moment of the experience. She used heated rocks and towels as part of the massage. It would have been nice to get a heads-up that heat was coming or an intense shoulder massage (she definitely emphasized the shoulders!), or whatever was next. She hardly said anything, which I can imagine most people would appreciate, so they can focus on relaxing. The full body massage included head, temples, neck, shoulders, back, arms and hands, and feet and legs. She also used warm stones and warm, wet washcloths. The linens were clean and fresh, the room was dim with ambient noise, and the hour flew by! There were some areas in the room that could use an upgrade, like where the walls met the ceiling (uneven connections) and the paint drops on the electrical socket. It felt clean overall, although a bit old. It was $55 for a 1 hour full body massage. There is $1 charge for credit cards. Parking is easy to find, as this place is located in a shopping plaza. I'd recommend this place for the price and the ease of scheduling, but if I was looking for a more pampering experience, I'd try elsewhere! read more

Other places focused on all parts of my feet. Also, they charge $2 if you use a credit card to pay which never makes sense for a business to do especially when they don't inform you ahead of time. We typically go to Sacramento or Davis for massages at places that we have been going to for decades. However, one day we decided to try J relaxing massage as it is only 1 miles from where we live. We called the Woodland phone number, no one answered. We called back 20 minutes later, the same thing, no one answered so we left a message. 10 minutes later we get a return call from a 408 area code (That is odd) We had an appointment set for 6PM on a Thursday evening. We arrived at 5:50 (10 minutes early), when we walked in, there was no one at the front counter. We waited 10 minutes, there was no on here, we rand the bells on the front door several times over a 10 minute period. Finally I called the number, again, it did not get answered so I left a message. 5 minutes later this Asian dude calls me back - he said "You wait few minutes, they be there shortly" - Now we have been here 25 minutes (It is now 6:15). We called down the hallway and no one was there. 5 minutes pass and we called again, again, no answer, again, we get a call back. The same guy said, they will be there in a few minutes, they are on their way. Now it is 6:25 and we decided to leave - there was no one in the building and no one was coming. After I was in my car heading home, he called, go back, someone there now. I said no way - we have been waiting 35 minutes and I am not waiting another minute. This is a lousy way to do business. I was having some very severe back pain today and wanted to come in right when they opened to get a chair massage before work. I called this week and made an appointment with Mike for a specific time, but he took another woman who was also waiting for him. Not sure why they are double booking. I bring this up to the lady who works there, and she reluctantly takes me. She barely touched me and didn't use much pressure. It was one of the worse (non) massages I've ever had. I will not return. Although I like Mike, there is no guarantee I will actually get him even after booking an appointment. This place is a hard pass for me. I gave it a try because of some of the good reviews on Yelp. The location of the place is right next to a busy/loud business (Jamba Juice), and the construction of the place is definitely not sound-proof. Instead of a tranquil atmosphere, you will be treated to the sound of blenders. Even worse than that was the provider. In fairness, I cannot comment on all the masseuses. But the lady I had was bad. Just bad. She had no sense of feel. No skill. She seems to confuse roughness with firmness. Also, I could tell she was distracted or bored. I left the place more tired and tense than when I arrived. If I could give one star, I would!! Worst massage I've ever had in my life! It was an hour of like someone just watching tv and applying no pressure as they move to each part of your body. No skill, no education on what they are doing obviously and then at the end you get the thrill of them looking so close at the "tip" line of the receipt while you sign. No wonder they make you pay before you get the massage. Will never be back and if I ever am reincarnated and get a second life, again, I will spend that life staying far away from this place. I read reviews about the noise complaints and when I sat down for my foot massage, Jack, the manager, handed me a bottle water and ear plugs. They obviously do care and take reviews seriously. My body was aching so bad one day and so I stumbled upon this place on Yelp. Came in around 6:15pm and there was no wait. I didn't make an appt and just did walk in. Laura took me in. I decided to do a full body for an hr. She was really good. You can tell her the pressure you like. The place was clean and has full sheets to cover her. Professional place and people. They also offer foot massages and chair massages, they have many different options and the prices are so affordable! This will be my new go to place! I even got hot stones for my massage and the full hr was only $45!!!! It was great. I would recommend this place for a nice massage with affordable prices. Maybe even unbeatable prices I would say! Your typical price in Davis is probably $75-90 an hr. Come here and get the full treatment for half the price! read more

I had the worst neck pain and was unable to move my neck for days. I had tried everything at home and nothing seemed to work. My mom had recommended me to go there because she had gotten a massage there a few weeks ago and said it was the best she ever had. As soon as I walked in the man at the counter said "Your neck hurts?" with out me even saying one word. I said "yes it hurts a lot and I cannot move it" He said "sit down, I will fix" It was a little painful but nothing crazy, just a little uncomfortable when he would put pressure on the areas that were tender from all the work I tried to do at home. About an hour later it was done. He told me to drink lots of water,rest and come back the next day. The next few hours were a little rough I felt sore and hot.....but the next day I was able to move my neck!!!!! I was so happy!!! So I went back the next day, he was busy with another client but told the girl exactly what do to. She worked on me about 15 minutes and then he told her he would take over...I have never felt this pain again. I cant wait to go back again for a massage! read more

At the end of a week there's nothing better than a relaxing massage that loosens all the tightness in the muscles. I have been coming here for the past few years (pretty much since they opened). I appreciate I can always get a same day appointment. I have tried deep tissue and Swedish and I enjoyed both. I believe deep tissue is everybody's favorite cuz it really help with the body pain. Not the best experience. I did the 1hr foot massage and it was mediocre. Frequent pauses as the masseuse left to talk to his coworker. I couldn't seem to relax because of all the noise going on in there and the store next door. Then what really sucked was when the masseuse and his coworker argued with me because they wanted me to pay in cash. Which would have been fine if only I had known they only take cash...... but there are "WE TAKE CREDIT CARD\ATM" signs on their front door and at their front counter!!!! I told them all I had was my ATM and they asked me to go get cash from the ATM next door. I said no and in a rude tone they told me they were going to charge me $1 for having to use their charge machine. Been here a couple of times for a one-hour full body massage and have been completely satisfied. The headline: Great prices, about 40% less than in Davis. And I can almost always get a same day appointment. While I don't think the massage therapists here are California-certified, they must have some training as the massage quality is pretty good. They use a lot of lotion/massage oil but I appreciated that at the end of the massage they rubbed me down with a warm moist towel that got rid of most of the greasy feeling. Be aware that English is their second language so there isn't a lot of chit-chat, but I was able to communicate what I wanted. Sorry, I'm gonna be honest. I felt really awkward the last time I visited this place. They kept telling me to tip more until I gave them what they wanted. It made me feel bad, because it was a good massage, but the truth is it made me feel really bad and awkward. ruined my massage. I left a good review because I didn't want it to be awkward next time I went in, but I'm not going back. I was emotionally extorted by a masseuse. Who the hell does that? I've been debating on leaving this review here, but after consulting a couple friends this is the right thing to do. About 2-3 weeks go I came in with a friend for full body massages, mind you I have been here 2 times before and was recommending this place to my friend. Everything was fine waited about 10 mins before being roomed was offer a bottle of water, once in the room the male asked me to undress and lay on the bed. He came in fixed the sheet to cover me from the waist down exposing my back (perfect) he started the upper body massage everything was going well, massage was great (pressure was great). As he started moving down to the lower body he removed the sheet exposing my bottom, he then proceeded to move my underwear and placed it in my butt cheeks to look like a thong, I was confused as this had never happened. He continued to massage my butt cheeks bare handed (not over the sheets like they did my friend in the room next door) it felt awkward but I continued to let him finish the massage down my legs. He then proceeded to ask me to turn around for the front body massage. I was already feeling like this wasn't going to be good, He started again the the top body neck shoulders, upper chest. He then moved the abdomen fixing again my underwear to go as low as my pubic area, I was a bit confused since he actually touched a (hair or 2 TMI) I frozen embarrassed and he continued, to massage my abdomen all the way down to the public area. He then moved to the legs, and then again up to the thighs he kept massaging the inner thighs and would move up to the inner legs (pubic area) i had enough when he continued to massage the leg but would bring his hands closer the pubic area (touching a hair or 2), even with me moving giving him a hint he was to close he continued. I finally had enough and removed a small cloth that he used to cover my eyes and he said ok finished. He walked out the door, I changed and walked out. Once out the room my friend was already out and had taken care of our bill. As we were walking out as quick as I could, they (the male and female) we saying where is the tip she pay bill no tip wheres the tip. I grabbed a bill $20 didnt care and walked out. After asking my friend what he massaged entailed, it had nothing like mine, no underwear up her butt, not abdomen rub close to the pubic bone (they massaged her butt over the sheets) no pubic hairs pulled like mine. I feel this gentleman was wrong and wish other females to know and if it has happened to them to come forward. Will never go back read more

I loved this place! First, it is very affordable. I got 90 minutes service (30 min chair massage, 30 min foot massage and 30 min full body) for $60. The 3 services were great. I like deep massages and that's what I got! I was a little skeptic that it was going to be good and deep because of the price and name of the place (relaxing). Usually, when I get massages I don't want to relax but I want to work in tight muscles. That's what I got. Chair and full body massage were focused on back pain, which I appreciate. I'm giving 4 stars just because you could here what was happening in the next door store (I think I got there right when there was a lot of unloading going on). Otherwise, I would have give 5 stars. I went in for a 30 min foot massage for $20 which is not a bad price but after the service was done they demanded I give them a tip ???!!
