I guess I've always been a fan of massage therapy though I don't go very often-over the years I probably go about 2 or 3 times a year-When I do go I always tend to go to New Happy Day Spa in Natomas located on Natomas Crossing. Well last week was one of those times-my wife and I have been going here for probably over 6 or 7 years-for sure long term customers-she goes much more than I do,averaging about once a month.When we 1st started going here,we both realized the value of buying either the 5 pack or the 10 pack of the discounted massage tickets-they are a pretty decent value,especially if u pay with cash-I tend to go with just what they call the "Foot Massage" and those tickets run for 5 of them for $215.The wife goes with "Body Massage" and those got for $260 for 5 tickets-each tickets gives you 1 hour of your designated massage.Not terrible price for either, $43 or $52 an hour.Compared to the prices that other places offer for an hour of massage,I feel it's a pretty good deal. After being a patron at this establishment for so long,the wife and I have for sure developed of preferences of massage therapists there.We are both big fans of "Kelly" and we both tend to ask for her availability whenever we call in for an appointment.Of course when we are going at the same time,I let my wife have the session with Kelly,so that has led me to have experienced many of the other therapists who are employed there.So I could say with pretty good confidence that I've never had a bad experience with any of the others,maybe some are a big stronger than others or maybe some have better techniques but overall I would say they are all pretty good at what they do. One thing I wanted to talk about is the difference between a foot massage and a body massage at this location.This is a debate the wife and I have had more than a few times as to which is better option when considering price and services.I reluctantly would admit the full body massage is probably the better option for only a few dollars more per hour,but for the longest time I felt otherwise . With foot massage they do focus on entire body but you can either get it fully dressed or with your shirt off but you do keep some sort of sweats or shorts on-I tend to keep some sort of gym shorts on when getting my foot massage & they do tend to focus probably like 20 minutes of the hour on just your feet. With body massage-it's a bit different,no gym shorts needed,could do the full Monty if you were so inclined-not my thing but I know others do-wife prefers it that way and they do tend to spend a lot less time on your feet and more time on whatever part of your body you ask them to focus on.I can also vouch that in my many years of going to this location,the massage therapists have always been very professional and go out of their way to make sure their clients are always as comfortable as possible. In closing,I can say as a long time customer to this location,if you ever find yourself in the Natomas area and looking for a massage at a pretty good price,give this place a try-they are pretty good-I know I will for sure. read more

Terrible I booked for 1hour Swedish massage The receptionist convinced me to use the calm oil instead of the cream and the hot stone which brought the cost to $75($60,$10,$5). The massage lasted for only 38 minutes, I know this because I set a timer for 1hr from when the masseuse walked in to begin. Even at that they only used the oil for my shoulders and back of my neck which seemed like deep tissue massage as opposed to Swedish massage as requested. When I asked why they weren't using the oil for my arms they acted like they couldn't understand English. My thighs were not massage only my back, arms and calf were massage as I layered facing down. I had a fantastic one hour massage with Kelly during my most recent visit, and she was absolutely great! She took the time to ask which areas needed the most focus, and once I let her know, she made sure to check in about the pressure. I requested deep pressure, and she delivered exactly what I needed. It was well worth the $60 for the hour, an excellent value for such quality work. I've been here before and love coming to see either David or Kelly. Both are skilled. This visit was with Kelly, and once again, the experience didn't disappoint. Another thing I love about this location is that it's close to home and super convenient. Even when I call last minute, they usually have one or two openings available before closing, which makes it easy to fit in some self-care when I need it most. I have mixed feelings about my experience. The massage itself was very good overall. I requested a deep tissue massage, and for the most part, the therapist did an excellent job. However, there was one very sensitive area in my lower back where the pressure was simply too much. I repeatedly said, "That's too much," but the deep pressure continued on that spot. I think a customers request should be respected. Aside from that, the massage was relaxing and enjoyable. It helped with the spasm that I had been enduring for the past two weeks. Unfortunately, my experience at checkout completely changed how I felt about returning. After I paid, the front desk employee took out a calculator and said, "20 percent tip," as she calculated the amount. I replied, "Isn't a tip optional?" She responded, "Oh, she didn't do a good job?" I said, "Yes, but I can't do that." She then said, "It's to show her she did a good job." That interaction made me feel pressured to leave a larger tip rather than allowing me to decide what I could comfortably afford. I ended up leaving a $15 tip on an $85 massage, but it wasn't because I felt free to do so, it was because I felt uncomfortable saying no. I'm a single mom, and massages are an occasional treat that I have to budget for carefully. Tipping should be appreciated, but it should never feel like an expectation or something a customer is pressured into. I genuinely wanted to continue using this spa because I enjoyed the massage overall, but the checkout experience left such a negative impression that I don't plan on returning. read more

I chose this massage place because they had good availability and the pricing was reasonable. Unfortunately, the massage itself was not an enjoyable experience. Upon arrival, they never asked what kind of massage I wanted nor whether I preferred a male/female massage therapist. Additionally, they made me pay for the service before it was received. During the massage, my therapist consistently applied too much pressure, to the point that it was painful. I asked multiple times for less pressure, and while he would ease up briefly, he would eventually return to the same level of force. Let me just say this: if you've never had Lisa from Happy Day Spa in Natomas go full Mortal Kombat on your back, thighs, calves, chest, and glutes--you haven't lived. I walked in shaped like a question mark from all the tension. Lisa took one look at me and said, "Oh no, not on my table." What followed can only be described as a mix between a deep-tissue massage and a full-blown WWE SmackDown. She suplexed every knot in my body. She found pressure points that made me see colors I don't think the human eye is supposed to register. When she got to my glutes, I was ready to tap out, but Lisa? Lisa was on a mission. She didn't just massage my butt--she negotiated with it, broke up the scar tissue, and sent it home with a packed lunch and a therapy appointment. By the end, I couldn't tell if I'd been healed or hazed into a cult. I floated out of there like a cooked noodle with zero thoughts and maximum peace. Highly recommend. My first time coming here. They answer their phone calls promptly and accommodated walk ins. I appreciate them making the time for me to drop in. I was assisted very quickly when I arrived. They have a fridge in the lobby with small water bottles for guests which is generous of them. My masseur that helped me was pretty good.. a little firm at some points of it but he definitely got alot of tension out. The colorful lights illuminating the ceiling in each room created a very soothing feeling. The masseuse was very professional and effectively relieved all my pain. Ive been to New Happy Day spa for years now, whenever I visit my family in Natomas. My experience with Kelly yesterday (May 11, 2025) was disappointing. I asked her to be strong and firm, and she gave me a less than inspiring massage (Ie.. boring). The massage gun I have at home is superior to her efforts. She barely used any pressure, and when she did exert force or pressure, it was in the opposite direction of what my muscle fibers are usually accustomed to for experiencing the most relaxation and pressure points. She actually ended up pinching my skin and subcutaneous tissue, so it wasn't relaxing at all. She also barely used much lotion during the massage (quite skimming on it)... such that it created a tremendous amount friction / burning sensation that unpleasant. I think Kelly needs to get additional training if she should continue to work at this establishment. read more

I've been to this location a few times and it hasn't been an issue until yesterday. I had the masseuse named Coco and left visibly shaken, bruised, and upset. Coco never asked what level I wanted my massage and proceeded with very firm, which is not what I would have requested. Throughout the 90 minutes, I told her that her pressure was too hard at least 7 times and she would NOT lighten up. She was extremely rough, tossing the sheet and my feet. She repeatedly said 'only couple more minutes' or 'not too hard, muscles are bad'. Many times she thought my wincing and moving was because she was getting into a good muscle rub, but I was in pain, like I told her. She for some reason enjoyed that and proceeded to go into that area harder and longer. She spent about 20 minutes working into my ankle muscles which have never needed more than a quick glance. There is much more I could go in detail over, but I will definitely not be back. Today my entire body hurts worse then I came in and I'm sure areas are bruised. read more

I was a devoted massage envy customer for over 13 years, but the subscription model became too expensive due to not being able to go monthly for a massage. This place is a good alternative without the subscription model. The place is run by RACISTS. My man and I came in for a couples massage and they told us we needed to pay upfront. At the time we thought it was weird but paid anyways. Upon reading many views between Yelp and Google, it doesn't seem like anyone else was required to pay first, in fact I've read specific reviews about the check out process after the massage. Then when it was done and we were walking out of the room, they shove a black folder in your face begging for a tip. We had not tipped yet because we hadn't received the service, that determines how good the tip will be. As my man is writing the tip down on the receipt the receptionist at the front desk is fully leaning over the desk with her face right on top of the receipt to see how much we're tipping. My husband and I came here for a couples massage gifted to us by a friend. Upon arrival, the man at the front was very kind and accommodating. The rooms were nice, clean, and well kept. Our masseuses were Ling and Devin. Devin has the most magical hands; he added the perfect amount of pressure and really took his time. Definitely knows his stuff and is very professional. Very excited to return for our next massage soon! My husband didn't have anything bad to say about Ling, he really enjoyed his massage. Ling had very strong hands and techniques, though Ling finished a few minutes before Devin. The only thing keeping this from a 5 star review is that Ling kept insisting on a tip; she gave my husband a card holder insisting that he give her cash immediately. We were most definitely going to leave a tip thanking both Devin and Ling for their services, but at least let us get our clothes on first! She then proceeded to walk up to the front with us where again, for now the third time, she requested a tip. We gave her a card tip at the front and as we walked away she asked how much we tipped her. I understand tips are a vital part of the service industry, but there's a nicer way to go about it. The review is for facials provided by Monica, the esthetician. The only service I have gotten here are the facials. She does an awesome job. She will examine your skin and advise on the best type of facial. However if you just want the basic, she will not up-sell you or scare you into the higher priced facials. Great! She will explain everything that she is doing. She includes mini scalp massage and mini shoulder and neck massages with aromatherapy. Ohhh so heavenly. She has a deep massaging touch. I have had various facials from her: microdermabrasion, oxygen, and acne. She has dug and got stubborn surfaced whiteheads removed, no scarring or reddening. Blackheads be gone. Plus if you want to throw in a massage, she does that as well. The room is no thrills. Basic room that is clean. I have gone to high end salons that tell you that you must buy their overpriced items and maintain a skin routine with them. Well Monica and New Happy Day does not sell products. However the front desk staff will strongly encourage you to optimize your savings by buying a ticket book for body services ( good for body massages and facials). if you are in a financial position to drop $190 or $350; $190 will get you 5 tickets, $350 = 10 tickets. 1 basic facial runs $45 or 1 ticket. Oh happy day! Like most people, I love having a wonderful spa experience! I've been a customer of new happy Day spa for a while now, and after a very stressful week or two at work, decided I needed to treat myself to a relaxing massage. Apparently there are two different locations just blocks away from one another but completely unrelated to each other. Trust me on this one, this is the location that you want. This definitely isn't your fancy-schmancy spa, but it definitely is a place to have a relaxing massage and leave feeling happy that you went. When I've gone in the past, I traditionally get a basic massage which is done in a open yet darkened room with numerous massage tables in it. It's been one of the turnoffs that I've had about going, but the massages are fairly inexpensive, and it's been worth the time and money. The generic massages are done fully clothed. I decided this time that I wanted a real massage, and went with a friend. They were gracious enough to charge us for a couples massage and we were happy to share a room that had two massage tables in it. It definitely saved us some money, and we were happy that we would be able to chat during our massages. The massage therapist were excellent. We both opted for the deep tissue massage, and had every tense muscle relieved of stress. While we initially thought we would be able to chat, it became pretty obvious that that wasn't going to happen LOL While deep tissue massage sounds relaxing, there were definitely moments of being uncomfortable. However, that's part of it. It's part of a genuine massage, and being able to release the stress and tension from the various muscles. I left completely relaxed, and feeling a little sore. I finally returned to this establishment since the pandemic and they've made many good changes. They no longer have the massage beds in a communal room, it's now in private rooms. Gone are the hot water tubs I struggled to soak my feet while lying on my back - at 5'0" it was a strain on my back to reach both the water and lay flat on my back. Now the therapist just put on gloves when they work on your feet. It's so private it's a little confusing whether you should disrobe but don't, the door is always slightly cracked open, I'm sure so the customer feels safe. The quality of the foot massage always depends upon the therapist but so far "David" is my favorite, he doesn't take any shortcuts and seems intuitive as to where my body needs the most attention. I lack one star because on one of my visits I question whether they had changed the sheets before I entered the room. The New Happy Day Spa has been sold to a new owner. There is no posting that this company is under new management. They are using the same name and bought the business. The previous company sold "Tickets" for either a Foot massage or a body massage. The current owner is accepting the tickets but basically putting a 50% surcharge on the service that was purchased. Due to the pandemic, these tickets were purchased approximately 2 years ago, however in California, they do not expire. I do not know if the company still sells tickets, but as a consumer, I paid in advance for a product that they are making me pay additional to receive. I googled best massage in Natomas and "New Happy Day Spa" appeared. I am so grateful that I had a massage today! My sciatica, lower back pain, neck pain and plantar fasciitis pain were significantly to fully reduced and I am able to walk without pain. I really loved the heated massage beds/tables. I also liked how the masseuse wore gloves when he massaged the lower legs and feet because it's a smoother feeling massage to me that I observed. I was solo, but noticed they also have rooms for romantic couples massages. My professional masseuse was Jack. Immediately after my massage, I called my husband to get a 90-minute massage with Jack. He sure did! Next time, I will get the 90-minute massage with Jack! The facilities are very clean. The fragrances are very subtle, which I appreciate because I have a sensitivity to fragrances. Also, the administrative team members are very polite and work diligently to accommodate your schedule and ensure the "problem areas to massage" that you communicate to the admin team at the front desk are clearly communicated to the masseuse and are the focal points for your experience. Wendy was the name of my masseuse today, man did she do a great job. Perfect amount of pressure and knew exactly which areas to focus on without me having to tell her. I had a 2 hour apt today for a massage and a facial. My massage would have gotten this place a 2 star but the facial blew it up to 5. The staff are nice and friendly especially the front ladies. Place is nice and clean and a good size. I have gotten facials all over the world on my vacations and the European facial I got today with Monica was far better than any other that I have ever gotten. Not only was she very informative, polite, sweet, knowledgeable but she did not try to up-sell anything at all. She took her time and really worked hard and was wonderful. I am willing to drive here monthly even though it's a 70 mile round trip Just to be seen by Monica. She could teach others how to give facials and how to have great customer services skills.
