They had a good selection of frames, but I honestly just went with what Ta recommended first because it looked really nice! Turnaround was about a week and Ta told me exactly how to hang it and helped me get the picture in my vehicle. My fiancé found this custom framing place through Yelp when we needed to find someone to create a custom frame for our crane display. Since our crane display was 3D, we needed someone who could create a frame around our art piece. My husband went to the shop to talk to the owner and ended up leaving our crane piece with him to frame. We selected a white frame, and the owner suggested that we add in a blue boarded inside the frame (which you can't see unless you're standing and looking at the frame on the side). Our custom frame was completed in such a quick time and when we went to go pick it up, we were blown away. It was just the right touch to finish off our crane artwork and piece everything together. Service here was so great - it's a husband + wife team and they really compliment each other with what they bring to this business. Brought a large oil painting to J.S. to have it cleaned and re-papered and wired. Ta and Karen were gracious, friendly and didn't try to hard sell me on any costly framework or etc. They completed the cleaning and repair in a timely fashion. I rarely write reviews, but I had such a wonderful experience, I had to let everyone know! If you have a nice piece of artwork, I recommend you look at the pictures from other reviews. Because what makes Ta such a treasure of a human being is not the elegant & fitting frame he added to my Shamsia Hassani print. It's that he took the same amount of consideration and care framing my toddler's first Pollock. He even took the time to choose a matte that complemented the colours and told me not to feel silly for framing a toddlers hand painting - that I would be encouraging her to explore art. We'll see about that last bit (particularly since my wife is all in on her being an engineer..), but I'll definitely be back here for anything to be framed, not to mention the kind & sparkling conversation! read more

Mr Shiah and his wife are a dynamo team. They are punctual, good people. And the work Mr Shiah does in framing and advising where things should be hung is just excellent. He is a master at his craft. You just don't find that as much today. He loves art and appreciates it with a keen eye. My mom and I really enjoyed working with Mr and Mrs Shiah to beautify our home. I ended up not buying a frame here but it was not due to any shortcomings on their behalf. I found a frame that suited my tastes elsewhere, which still does not take away from the job they would/could have done here. After all, its what makes these shops all different.....not one of them carried the same frames. They are on a one way street which threw off my GPS so I had to make a loop around. Their front door is usually locked so just ring the door bell and give them a second to answer it. Their customer service was awesome. It is a husband and wife team. They were both there to greet me and brainstorm frames for my diploma. Price was definitely competitive and even cheaper than other frame shops I checked out. They were able to call their local supplier for availability and current prices. This also meant they have a quick turnaround of 2-3 days even if they don't have the frame in-store. Not pushy in terms of trying to make a sale. She even encouraged me to check out other places. You could tell they were more interested in me finding a frame that I WAS happy with, and not about getting my money that day. Some intangibles.....they have cats and dogs galore inside. Some of which they have rescued from Pasadena Humane Society. I enjoyed getting to know some of her curious pets while walking through their store. Don't be scared of their 110 lb German shepard though, it is very nice and just wants a sniff. read more

The review is long overdue. Mr. Shiah is a class-act, and true craftsman. Service is impeccable and the work is better than any Michael's or Aaron's stores around. I know this because I used to wait for Michael's 60% off coupons. I was nervous bringing my large print here expecting some outrageous price, but it was very fair, and the quality of work, and the care taken with my pieces is a reflection of Mr. Shiah's true passion. I will never take my valued photos, prints, or art anywhere else now that I've found a family owned business that encompasses what all local businesses should: passion, customer service, exceptional work, and quality production. They have a reasonably quick turnaround also. Believe these reviews, because I've taken at least five pieces to Mr. Shiah and every single one came out exceptionally. An added bonus, and a tell-tale sign that you are working with genuinely good people, they've build a shed outside the shop to house local cats. They feed and provide shelter for animals that would've otherwise been left on the streets.
