This company is very unprofessional and have incompetent, technicians, like Charles who came out and replaced a working ac unit and never fixed the actual unit that was not working at all. They claim will be there at one time but never show up until 5 or 6 hours later, order wrong parts then place's blame elsewhere. Will not start work until payment is in hand. Also damaged my generator and sat a 200-pound AC unit on top my generator. Poor communication skills on what is going on and cost me four days f work having to be home to meet them. The WORST! The lady who sets appointments and answers the phone was extremely rude. Tried to set an appointment with them for the last 4 days through my home warranty company and they kept giving short answers that made no sense through text. I called them to verify my date and time because they didnt specify clearly just in text "Next Week" after giving a window of 9am to 5pm. That's literally all day.. unacceptable. Called a few times this week, no answer, no call back. I texted a few more times and they finally responded "Friday" 3 days later. I had to ask what time and they just said "Morning Call".. that is so confusing. I just called them and they finally answered.. she literally told me, "You should have picked up the phone and figured it out if you didn't understand!" However 2 weeks later my ac is out. When they come back they find a Freon leak. Hmmm. When I reviewed the service order from 2 weeks prior, the tech did not even bother to check Freon. The office is prompt and accurate in all of their tickets and customer service is top notch. The owner, Jim, is extremely responsive and runs the business with customer satisfaction in mind. Not plumbers at all! At the time, I had Landmark Home Warranty who sent J Star out 3 separate times. Never repaired my plumbing issue. Only suggested I pay out of pocket, $795.00 to put in a clean out valve. Finally, Landmark approved me to call a 'real' plumber who repaired. my problem first trip out and Landmark covered. Btw: I had 2 clean out valves, already. I Strongly recommend Against them. IF they're even still in busy. The very reason I got a bad taste in my mouth for Home Warranty. My home warranty company contracted this service when our water heater started having issues. I'd called on a Wednesday around lunchtime and had been assured that per the warranty company's service agreement, I'd be receiving a call from J Star within 3-5 hours to schedule an appointment. No call came. First thing the following morning (Thursday), I received a text message-- still no phone call-- telling me that my appointment window was scheduled for 9:00am to 6:00pm. Apparently a nine hour appointment window is okay for these people. I was already feeling sick, so I ended up calling into work to make sure I'd be home when they came by. Some time later, I get another text message telling me that my appointment was canceled. I called them three times to no avail, then sent an email and a text message, but no one was responding. I called my home warranty company and they tried calling J Star repeatedly to no response. Apparently no one bothers to make or return phone calls at this company. I finally got an email back somewhere around 3:00pm on Thursday informing me that they received the service order but they don't service my area. No apologies for not being more clear, for scheduling a 9-hour appointment window and canceling it, or for not returning calls, emails, or texts over a six hour period. I'd recommend that you avoid trying to work with this company at all costs. I even requested that my home warranty company consider terminating any partnership with this group considering their ridiculously poor customer service. This company was sent by my warranty company when my water heater went out. The receptionist was really helpful in setting up my appointment and the technician was knowledgeable when he diagnosed the need for replacement. I had a larger Rheem unit and the company procured a Rheem to replace it. When the technician arrived with the unit, he was very careful in bring it in, he did the work professionally, and cleaned up everything, even sweeping up the floor before he left. Unfortunately my home warranty company had this terrible company service me. Typically I wouldn't leave a bad review but because the "OFFICE MANAGER" was so extremely rude I think it's only right. She refused to give me her name, knowing she shouldn't be talking to customers the way she was. Please take your business elsewhere, you will save yourself time and a headache. Also the office manager had the nerve to call me liar on the phone and then wanted to continue with text messages to prolong the argument. What kind of business is this!! This has got to be a joke. I feel bad for the company, this "office manager" is ruining the companies name. I see a lot of negatives here regarding this company... I have to think these are unfortunate isolated incidents. David from J-Star was at my house before 10:00 am, diagnosed and fixed the problem in less than 30 minutes. Extremely professional, and communicated through the process. I watched on my home security camera while he did the repairs with my wife and daughters in the home and at no point did they feel unsafe. One thing that I was not a fan of was the 09:00-18:00 arrival window they sent me. That is a hugeeee window and can really throw off a day. If I could make one recommendation to the company, it would be to shrink that window, some people do not have the luxury to wait around all day...luckily my wife works from home. I went through my home warranty services, so they are used J-Star... but if I have any issues regarding my plumbing I wouldn't hesitate to use them again, based off of this ticket. read more

Annie in the office is extremely rude and unprofessional!! When my warranty company set it up with them they did not call to schedule an appointment until the day of. When David showed up he was in an unmarked truck, no id, just a t-shirt and jeans. He did absolutely nothing and kept blaming his office manager and the fact that he had been super busy and was tired. We purchased a water heater from Sears after ours broke and flooded our home, because their website said they could deliver and install same day. Through contractors of course, unfortunately we had to work with this one!!! Sears apparently had our incorrect phone number, which we updated with them THREE TIMES! We called and left multiple voice mails for J Star Services after TWO DAYS without water. Once we were finally able to get them on the phone they told us "it wasn't their fault" that Sears didn't give them the correct contact information and that I would have to call Sears. If you have an order pending, equipment waiting to be picked up, and installation that was promised SAME DAY, this company should have done SOMETHING to get in contact with either Sears or us to coordinate the installation. They were extremely UNPROFESSIONAL on the phone and had NO IDEA how to handle a disgruntled customers. We will NEVER work with Sears just so that we do not have to encounter J Star Services ever again!! read more

Unfortunately I can't give a zero stars review. Just bought a new house and on Friday we smelled what ended up being a small gas leak. We called our gas company they cane out and had to shut off all appliances which use gas which was the stove and water heater. We then called our home warranty company and they were very quick to match us up with j Starr so I got their info and I called them right away because I read their reviews and most said they don't call you which I find oddly enough. Anyway the lady that answered sounded like she was from home as I hear kids screaming in the back room so she's irritated and takes it out on me. She says "It's Friday we don't come out on weekends" so I replied with Friday is not a weekend. She said well it's 3 o'clock close enough WTF . So here it is Monday the plumber is there literally and says problem is fixed I tightened the pipe you can go ahead and call your gas company come back out and turn the gas back on so I did. The gas guy comes out and the work order says the same thing and the problem is still there and he cannot turn on the gas. So I called the plumbing company back after four phone calls the lady find the answers back rudely and says we're busy the rest of the day the best I can do is tomorrow morning so I'm like tomorrow morning like today tomorrow morning because the appointment today was 9 to 12 you showed up at 1:30 so should I plan for 130 then? She said sir we will get there when we get there I'm like ok lady. But all the while "why is this my fault again" avoid this company altogether read more

This company has a contract with my Home Warranty provider and was not willing to travel 1 hour to honor that contract. However, that is not my issue. Upon contracting this company directly to get an idea of how many days it would take to get my AC checked out. (Oh by the way it isn't working and the temperatures are in triple digits and we are elderly and handicaped.) They made an appointment to come out the next day. We waited in the heat for them to arrive (which they never did). I made several attempts to call and left messages to see if they would make it and no one ever responded. This morning I called to see if they were going to reschedule and was disconnected. Seconds later I received a text message that the appointment for yesterday was cancelled. I'm thinking that they never intented to come out. Could have just been honest to begin with and not cost me time in the heat. Now my warrant company has to try to find someone else. Well it's Friday and will probably not get anyone out before Monday. Next time J Star just be honest with the customer and don't leave them hanging in the heat. read more

J Star called Monday morning around 9:30 am and said they were on their way and would be here in about an hour and Bo was here when he said he would be. I told him I had a problem with the back of two toilets leaking and a shower knob with a problem from the last plumber. Everything was fixed in under an hour and fixed right. I hope I never have the misfortune of dealing with this fly by night company again in my life. American home shield assigned them as my contractor... I have had success with the warranty company, until my phone call with J-STAR SERVICES INC. The woman that answered the phone was so absolutely rude I finally hung up on her. I was calling to set the appointment, she informed me I am outside their normal service area and they "will get to me when they get out that way..." I live in the country, I get it I am ok with a wait. I just wanted to know what day. She said they get calls on the weekend and would schedule me Monday after those calls come in. I then asked her just to be clear you won't even schedule me till next week? She asked me if I "really expected same day service on a home warranty account." At that point I quit asking questions because I knew no matter what she said I would not be using them as a company. I did not expect same day service but setting the appointment would have been nice. She made sure to tell me they were still within the time frames provided by the warranty company. I pulled the reviews for them, so many people with AHS warranty have had issues. I no longer felt like I could even trust having them in my home. I hung up with the rude woman and continued reading about the company.... they are not BBB approved and have even more bad reviews there. They are less than 3 stars on all platforms. I am glad I refused service and disengaged from rude woman on the phone. It sounds like she becomes really nasty if you disagree with her, it felt it was going in that direction. If you own this company or work there please work with the woman answering your phones. You won't have many clients if you keep her working there. Have a new home and a Home Warranty with Landmark (another case altogether) . Was scheduled for some plumbing work on a Friday; window 9am - 6pm. At about 2PM I receive a text that they need to reschedule for Monday; no phone call and they will never answer your calls and half the time just hang up. Monday I am waiting all day and at 4PM I get another text; we have to reschedule for Tuesday 3/16. Okay; again tried calling them and nothing. Fidelity Warranty Services dispached J Star Services to our rental house for a leaky faucet issue. The Plumber replaced 1 of 2 faucets with a different brand/model without consulting us and now the warranty company won't help us an further. Who gave them the authority to make decisions on our behalf..I own the house? Anyways, I have tried to reach out to them with several VM's over the last 2 weeks and no return calls. I have three kids at home with one being only 9 months, J-star is heartless and does not care for the hazardous environment they have created in my house for more than 7 week and still counting with no end in sight. I had a water leak in my bathroom wall in January 2019, my Home warranty company American home shield sent J-Star to repair the leak. To repair the leak, J-star cut two holes in my wall, break my shower handle, trash my house and did not clean up their mess. The broken shower handle was replaced with some random shower handle from the back of their truck and my house was left uncleaned and the two holes in my wall was never reported back to my warranty company for wall repair technician to be sent. As I write this review today is Match 1, 2019, its more than 7 weeks since the holes in my wall was cut by J-Star and my shower handle damaged. I have contacted J-star numerous times and received a very rude responds from one their representative on how a technician was never sent to my house. The representative did not even review their logs before rudely responding to me. Of course, after a lengthy back and forth with her on the phone she eventually review the logs and confirm that the technician was sent. However, no action or initiative have been taken to correctly repair the shower handle or report the wall holes to my home warranty company so that a wall repair technician can be sent. read more

The only call I got was to ask if they could show up in 10-20 minutes. Was told that they would schedule me for the following day. The following day came and I had to call because I didn't hear from them. Was told by the technician that I hadn't been scheduled but they would swing by and take care of my issue. The technician came by and was unable to do anything because my tankless electric water heater wouldn't power up. Was told that I needed to call the home warranty company to send out an electrician and that they would submit their report to the home warranty company. It's been over a week and the home warranty company has not been able to get a response from them and I am still without hot water in my home. I've called multiple times, left messages, and have gotten zero response from anyone at J-Star. Utter disappointment from everyone at the company. Probably the worst company that I have ever had to deal with. Much like the others posting a review, this company was assigned to me from the home warranty company I got when I purchased my house. The hot water heater had broke. Every time they came out to try to fix the problem, they gave me a window of 9-6 (because we have nothing better to do that wait around all day), but amazingly, they were late every single time. The employees smell like smoke. They broke my hot water heater trying to fix it. They then wanted to jam the wire they broke into the part, and tape it up. When I told them no, it needs to be done the right way, they tried to blame it on me with the home warranty company so they would not have to pay to fix it. The woman running the phones over there is the absolute worst. Very rude, disrespectful, and will lie and do whatever it takes to not take the blame. There arrival window is always 9:00 am - 6:00 pm. They were supposed to be at my house on 9-3-2020, but never showed, never called, never emailed or texted. I sat at home all day and my time is valuable too. I tried to call and got their voicemail and left a message. The next morning I tried calling them again and no answer and left another message. Shortly thereafter I got a message from American Home Shield that my appointment had been rescheduled to Sept. 8. Now, all this time, water is pouring out from under my sink and all down my countertops. I called American Home Shield to complain and to get them to send someone else but they said that was their only contractor. I told the representative from American Home Shield that I had spoken to Moen and the problem was a bad O-ring. The representative from AHS said he spoke to the contractor and he told him the problem was more major than that. Now I had paid my $75.00 fee and he had been here twice for 5 minutes each and did not fix the problem. I now asked for my $75.00 fee to be returned but I think I can kiss that goodbye. I went out and bought an O-ring to fix the faucet myself and no more leaks. Do not call these people. read more

They do not answer your calls. I had to dial them from another phone; they answered, but refused to talk because "it was taking too long". We had been on the phone ("too long") for less then two minutes, and I had several questions to discuss. The lady on the phone said: "It is my business, I only talk to who I want. You order is closed" and hang up. Update. To be fair: the technicians are fantastic: professional, respectful, prompt. The office lady is another story. She billed my credit card without calling me about the changes in the charges compare to what we discussed before over the phone. She did not send me a receipt. I called and asked for the receipt. She promised to email it (never did) and hang up on me. I had one more question - about the (mis)functioning of the water hitter they installed; i did not ask it because she interrupted me and hung up. That is why I called again, and she refused to talk. After several attempt, I dialed them from a different number, and she responded but, realizing that was me again, refused to talk. I had no other solution but driving to their office (30 min one way) to pick up the receipt (I happened to really need it rather promptly). I entered the office, introduced myself, asked for the receipt and... here it started. She refused to provide me with the receipt, refused to discuss the issue with the water hitter, and started demanding so that I left the office. Since I did not leave, she called the police; I could hear the conversation; they did not want to come; she had to say that she was not feeling safe with me in her office. (I was peacefully sitting on the couch in the waiting area.) The police officer came over; made her print out the receipt for me and, using the instructions to the water hitter I had with me, explained how I could fix it myself. Than he wished me a great day and returned to her office to have a conversation with her. Thank you, officer!! He made my day. By the way, she was trying to insult me in any imaginable way, starting with calling me crazy, making up things about my personal life and relations with other people and businesses, and going as far as making derogative comments on my non-native status (I speak with an accent). I would have never chosen them; the home warranty company did. Bottom line: if you do not want a police to be called on you for asking for a receipt, find some other place to take care of your business. read more

After waiting till the afternoon for them to call or show up, I called and spoke to a woman who basically made it my fault that no one had called or showed up.
