There's places that you'll never forget, J. Wilson's is one of them. Parking is always full no matter what time you stop by. And don't let the location fool you, it's in my opinion, one of the best restaurants in the region. They have a great selection of beer, great options to pair with your meal. Prices are pretty reasonable, considering the amazing quality. Ordered some Fried Pickles as an appetizer. It was an amazing choice. I believe my acquaintance and I had about 2 baskets, highly recommend. I had thee Stuffed Chicken Breast, I have to admit, it was one of the best things I've ever ate in my life. I grew up in SE Texas and since moved away, but every time I visit I hope there's a new, independently owned restaurant. This time J Wilson's answered that hope. Tucked off of a relatively quiet street good food is hidden in this place. We walked in on a Sunday for lunch and were sat in the almost full restaurant where they were serving brunch, almost unheard of in the Beaumont area. I was impressed with the menu and the number of good looking choices. My family ordered the following: chicken orzo soup cup, a side of grits, the vegetarian frittata, the chicken and waffles (he actually ordered the pulled pork and waffle but the waitress got the order wrong), and the breakfast bowl. The grits came like a slice of sheet cake. They were okay, but lacking flavor and the creaminess I think of when I want grits. The frittata slice was a huge triangle of egg in a thin, opaque sauce. I could figure out what the sauce was because it was pretty much flavorless and the eggs weren't that fantastic either. The chicken and waffles were good - the plate licked clean in mere minutes with a nice balance of salty and sweet for the morning when you can't make up your mind. Finally, the breakfast bowl which was a soft, omelette-style scramble with cubes of bacon and melted smoked gruyere cheese served alongside a warm, fresh and very good biscuit, preserves (or your choice of gravy), and crispy, well-seasoned brunch potatoes. They also had guac and pico de gallo which made everything that much better. I loved this the most, plus it had a little bit of everything. Service was friendly and a bit slow, in the pace of the area. This is a really fantastic addition to the Beaumont dining scene. read more

Came here a few months ago before my graduation and ate an amazing meal. But the best part was dessert. Raspberry white chocolate bread pudding...OMG! My mom has been talking about it ever since. Summer vacation rolls around and we're headed back home from Florida. Mom casually asks if we can stop in Beaumont. We ordered break pudding and creme brûlée. Bread pudding was even better than we remembered. My husband also ordered the man candy app. Def a new fav restaurant stop. They also have a pretty good selection of beers on tap. read more

Service was excellent and our area was very clean. I had the Salmon Plate with rice pilaf & cole slaw. Must agree with others here that the "cole slaw" is essentially flavorless sliced cabbage. Don't know if the lemon wedge was intended for the fish or the slaw, but I used it on the slaw so it would have at least some flavor. The pan-friend salmon was excellent though, and the pilaf was really salty but decent. My wife had the California Chicken Flatbread special which was crispy and nice but could have used a little more of the jalapeño drizzle. We'd be willing to come back and try other dishes. read more

Ordered off the brunch menu and felt like the portions were small for the price, but the taste was great. Food was so good. Drinks were very strong. Service was on point. I'm not much of a drinker and drank half of my drink and asked for more flavor or something to compliment the straight alcohol that was the bottom half of my drink. They obliged and apologized, did not charge me for my drink. I still would have paid for it. But I was happy they wanted to make customers happy. When we walked in it was packed. And we were there eating and talking over 2 hours and when we got up to leave it was still packed. I could have dealt with less people on a personal level, but it said a lot about the restaurant and how popular they are. And if people only like it because of the drinks or drink specials, they should try the food. It's amazing. read more

We were going to eat at a different restaurant, but they were closed. Perfect, I was so happy to eat here. The Chief has a way to transport myself right back to my grandmother kitchen. All entrées were beyond what I expected. Try the fried pickles were so crispy, thin, and the house ranch is to die for. Eating at J. Wilson was an enjoyable dining experience. We were there on a busy Friday night and had a 15-20 minute wait. It was worth the wait! We were promptly seated when a table was available. Our server was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious Texas-Cajun seafood. Shrimp was perfectly cooked and boudin was delicious. Pricey and often more crowded and noisier than I would like, but the food is delicious.

Great atmosphere and staff is very friendly. They have a very big gluten free menu and the food was a 10/10.

Outstanding local restaurant. I've stopped several times for a passing through lunch and it's been awesome every time. On this trip I had their take on a Rueben sandwich. House made dressing , smoked pulled pork and the bread was excellent. Different than your standard Rueben but literally off the chart great. We were not allowed to have menu items because it was the wrong time of day. We ordered a salad and Tea. There was 4 people in the place. It took an hour to get our salad. It was horrible. Wilted leaves looked like they dug up dandelions the waitress SQUATED when she took our order. Her nose was running. She kept sniffing and then wiped it on her sleeve. There is so much more. It is what it is, I had the same problem at the local Hooters having an internet nonsense channel being one of their main TV's at the bar. Look, I get it, people have short attention spans, but this BS belongs over in the corner away from the bar where kids sit with their families. It's so refreshing to see an establishment like this open in Beaumont! I often find that the food in the area while incredible clings to a certain stereotype. That is not the case at J. Wilson's. The food here is both delicious and beautiful! You can tell that time is taken to ensure that each and every dish is made and delivered to the customer perfectly. The Cuban Reuben is delicious and the Shrimp and Grits are as good as any I've ever had. Everything seems reasonably priced and I cant wait to go back and see how this place shapes up! So very good!!! Wonderful place for date night! Steaks are great and the creamed spinach is amazing!

All I can say is truly an enjoyable meal. They have one of the largest selection of Burbons that I've seen in a while. The bartenders are definitely well versed in the knowledge of Burbon. They offered a side Cesar salad as a side instead of fries. It was served in a dinner plate. No small portions and one of the best salads I've had. read more

One of the best restaurants in Beaumont! The man candy is pork belly with some sort of tangy habanero sauce. They serve it with bread which is good because you'll need it to soak up those delicious juices. We've been here for brunch and dinner and they have a good selection of tasty dishes!
