A pilsner glass-I don't think so-St Arnolds would call it sacrilege.

Seated in the empty overflow area. Thought they forgot about us after 15 minutes of perusing the brunch menu. Ordered a pilsner and was served in a Grand Cru glass at the same time as our meal. The wife had a Chicken Fried Steak with hash brown casserole and scrambled egg. The CFS was the chewy kind glad I didn't order it. I went with a fish and chips. Fish was hot . Chips kind of warm but not hot not worth sending it back. Tartar sauce was good reported as house made. Wife later admitted her hash browns were not piping hot. I think the main reason for going there is to see and be seen. I'm still out on the solitary side seats. Also the food came out as fast as a McDonald's cheeseburger and for a non-fast food restaurant that surprised me.

This place was so great! From the comfy atmosphere to the amazing food. I was actually so impressed. Everything we ordered was GREAT! Can't wait to head back when we're back in Beaumont. Highly recommend.

Had the flank steak stack medium rare with creamed spinach. Shared the Man Candy! Corona nonalcoholic beer. Noisy, friendly, 20 minutes' wait. Needs mocktails and nonalcoholic beverages on the menu! Because each guest either drives there or comes there with a driver. No walk in, bus, or ride share guests

My 88 year old aunt and I ate lunch here while I was visiting. The food was OFF THE CHARTS. The noise level was such that she could not really hear me across the table - We have the fried pimento cheese (OMG) and the wedge salad and the beef flatbread. I definitely look forward to their food again (maybe to go - so we can visit!)

We came to J Wilson's for brunch on a Sunday. Our waiter was good, nice and kept our drinks full. I was told their lemonade was very good. I had sweet tea and it was a good. It's a cute spot with cool decor, I don't know if we arrived during or after a rush but the floor was quite dirty. Everyone enjoyed their food. Biscuits were good, but a little dry and the gravy was very good. Ingredients looked and tasted fresh. The steak was cooked good and the potatoes had a nice fried crisp to them. I had the skillet breakfast with tortillas, made a taco and then just ate some, it was tasty and their salsa was pretty good too. These portions are hefty as well, with 3 of us getting to-go boxes. Overall, good brunch spot we chose while visiting.

Happy that I stopped here as I passed into Texas from Louisiana. I sat at the bar and had a delicious appetizer, craft brew, and Grilled Chicken Sandwich as my dinner entree. The inside was spacious and nice. The bartenders and staff were pleasant and efficient in their work. The whole mood and vibe was supper cool. Enjoyed my time here. Thanks for having me!

Since I've been visiting Beaumont more recently I've been on the search to find some great eats here. J.Wilson checked all the boxes. Service & food were great! Very cozy dimly lit dining area. Plus sides they stay open pretty late for all you weekend late night dinners!

My hubby, brother and sis in law stopped by for dinner prior to a concert at Ford Park. And we will drive back to Beaumont (from Houston) just eat at J. Wilson's. The place is nice and cozy inside and the food was delicious, flavorful and served up in a timely manner. Our waitress was super sweet, she got swamped by a 45 top party (a testament to the delicious food) and other team members stepped in to make sure we were taking care of. She came back and apologized even though not necessary. Highly recommend the creamed spinach as it was one of the best I've ever had. The boudin balls were also amazing. My sis in law got a seafood bisque and she said it was better than the one she waited 3 hours for a restaurant in Vegas. Honestly, one of my top eats this year. Can't wait to go back

The service and ambiance are fine, just a casual dining and bar. Could be family friendly too. But for a steakhouse in Texas I was not impressed with the food. I ordered a ribeye steak with crab and hollandaise sauce. The steak had a striking presentation on a sizzling cast iron plate. However, that plate continues cooking the steak, so if it was medium rare by the time it left the kitchen, it was well done by the time I started eating it. It was totally dry when halfway through. The hollandaise was good, the crab was dry and flavorless. The sides we ordered - Brussels and potatoes - were so salty and greasy. Both delicate items that don't need much prep to be tasty, but so over cooked they were no longer crunchy and the potatoes over saturated in oil and cheese.

The food is fabulous. The service was very good. The ambiance was good except for the noise level. It was so loud we couldn't talk.

Dixie is the dance club that's managed to stick around for a good number of years in a city that can't seem to get its footing in the nightlife scene. For dancing, the dance floor is great in size and layout. There are clearly defined seating and leaning areas and bars or pool tables on either end. There are 2 bars, both seemingly offering the same things, though one is larger and longer. The one near the bathrooms seems to get less traffic and makes for quicker service. And in Dixie Dance Hall, we have a Beaumont bar that at least uses point of sale computers to input orders, so you have some degree of accuracy with your tab. The light is low, but not so low that you can't see the fancy footwork of some skilled 2-steppers. The decor is minimal and what you'd expect at a country-western dance hall, and overall the establishment is clean. The drinks are mixed strong and drink specials are always offered with promotions listed on their website and Facebook pages. They also advertise nightly specials to get in free or with discounted cover. Usually your cover to Dixie also includes cover to Vain or other Crocket Street venues. On weekend nights, there are test-tube shot girls that come around with their offerings for $2. They are friendly and are able to add these shots to your bar tab. The girls are also easy on the eyes, if you're in to that. The dress code is VERY casual -- think barn wedding attire at best. Jeans and polos abound for the fellas, while ladies easily get away with jean shorts and a tank top. It's a large place, so it won't always be packed to the gills, but if you're looking for a place in Beaumont to dance like nobody's watching and be a little silly, this is as good as it gets.

It has made some changes over the years and I think they did an outstanding job on those modifications. The place is mainly RnB swing out style music. Thursday is real laid back and professional environment. I love it. Just the right number of people for a great introduction to the weekend. Saturdays was rowdy just the way a Saturday should be!! Again mainly RnB but DJ Choppa was on it and kilt it. He gave some non two stepping music for the non steppers....was a great mix no doubt! DJ great he entertains and knows how to keep the music going and just right. I have to say place is small but those are the ones that thrive. Ppl love intimacy (before you say Huh.... look at definition of intimacy). The intimate setting is wonderful. The bartenders (mixologist) whatever term you would like to use they ARE WONDERFUL. John is very meticulous about his craft and you can tell. Saturday i had the ciroc and lemonade all night was great. they dont skimp on the liquor. Although he chatting it up and giving each customer his attention he stills keep an eye on who he can serve so they won't feel left out. They def no what they are doing behind that bar let me tell u. Houston has me spoiled with no cover pretty much at any of the lounges at any time so if you don't get there before a certain time expect to pay 5-10 bucks no bad at all for a night of sure pleasure. I was somewhat surprised when we walked toward the entrance and a sign was posted informing potential customers that there would be an additional charge if you used a credit card! Ok, strike one for a welcoming atmosphere. Then, upon entering the establishment, we were accosted by a beautiful woman who informed us that since it was Karaoke Night, Wednesday, mind you, there would be a 5.00 cover charge for each of us. Okay, we pay to hear someone else ruin a Frankie Beverly and Maze classic! :-) Strike Two, for welcoming, inviting, and classy. Nell's Place might be a wonderful place for locals and a quaint place to socialize and meet new people, but it struck out for me on that day, and I doubt if I will ever go again when I am in town visiting relatives. Oh, strike three was the sheer lack of customer service and inattentiveness to those not seated at the bar. All the Locals were adequately taken care of at the bar while those seated on the floor seemed invisible to the Nell's Place staff.
