When people met me before I started working out, I was treated like just another person. Other…read morewomen would approach me for conversation if I was at the bar, and I'd exchange casual smiles with people while passing them in the grocery store--just typical daily interactions. Rarely did I receive compliments on my looks or get hit on. But when people met me after I got "sexi smexi," it was a night-and-day difference. As some of my best friends have told me, I come across as "intimidating" and "mean." I've had people tell me that before they got to know me, they thought I'd beat them up. I've had guys tell me that other guys wouldn't date me because they're too afraid--that I'm "too sexy." I can walk straight to the front of any VIP line at a nightclub and get in. I get hit on significantly more, and I've even been offered a lot of money in exchange for my "time," which never happened before I joined UFC. People offer me jobs more often and try to recruit me for marketing. Rich men and athletes have taken me out on very luxurious dates... and let me tell you, it's slightly exhausting. I used to work from home and didn't see many people, so going into busy places made me anxious. Before, I just wanted to blend in. Now, all I do is stand out I'm not even wearing lip gloss, but I be poppin', and all these boys' lips be droppin'. I know it's just human nature. People are attracted to a juicy Caboosey--the compliments are endless. It's almost as if I can say nothing wrong. I assure you, I'm an awkward person, and I do say awkward things--but people jump in to save the conversation when that happens. Before I started working out, people were still very nice to me. I didn't get approached as much--especially at night--but I still received compliments. Just nothing compared to how I look now. My friends have even asked me to "dial it down" at the gym because they're tired of all the guys hitting on me and leaving none for them. To me, though, it doesn't matter what you look like. It doesn't matter if you go to the gym to build muscle, lose weight, stay in shape, or whatever--what matters is whether you're comfortable with yourself. If you want to be 10 feet tall and that makes you happy--do it. If a certain workout is too much for you and you love being the way you are--don't do it. Don't follow what others are doing--just be you, and let everyone else be them Because regardless of shape, size, or anything else, underneath it all, we're all 10s. What really matters is what's on the inside. "Maybe if we loved ourselves, it wouldn't be so hard to love each other." -- Skizzy Mars The whole point is not to value everything based on your looks, but instead on your achievements and how you feel physically and mentally. Working out has made me more physically fit , which has given me more confidence--but that confidence should have always been there, regardless of how I looked. Some people only notice your appearance, but there's so much more to a person than that. Maybe in a galaxy far, far away, there are people who are just specks of light with no bodies... because when we're 80 , we're all going to look the same ‍ I've definitely been my own biggest hater before--fueling myself with negativity because of how I looked, how clothes fit, and how I compared myself to others. It's an uphill battle to love yourself 100% of the time. There's a lot of negativity and pressure to be a certain way. It's okay to not know where to start. It's okay to take a step back or take a break. Don't let your mind play games with you--you are stronger than you think and capable of things you never thought possible. So baby gorl (or boi), wear whatever you want, treat your body like a temple, and just be you. Thank you, UFC, for being awesome and for being a place where people can grow and have fun.

Yeah, I've never had someplace actually dissuade me from buying something…read more But here we are. I sooo very much wanted to buy 3 PT boxing sessions as a gift for my brother. I'm a longtime PT myself and we'd been talking about it as something he might like so I thought I'd surprise him for his bday. I initially called to inquire before Thanksgiving and was told that it's something they do and that there would be a sale after T day, and I should give them my email and they would send details so I did and nothing came. Waited til "cyber- Monday" to call back at which point despite saying EXACTLY what I wanted 3 PT boxing session as a gift for someone who was interested in trying it out I was greeted with more hesitation because their " training packs are 6 & 12" I stated "that's fine but I don't want that I want Pt sessions" Then I asked if I would need to purchase equipment or if equipment is included "Well that depends on the trainer and what they decide to do if they want to focus on strength training" NO! repeated that I was looking for someone to do private BOXING sessions I KNEW what I wanted. "Well then you can rent wraps or maybe buy them it's up to you" Legit the fact that the staff can't literally TaKE MY MONEY Made me be like "yeah, I'll look elsewhere" Makes me sad. Have worked in the fitness industry for over 20 years, and what seems like solid independent gyms, end up getting swallowed by big chains cause exchanges like this should be a no brainer How you do one thing is how you do EVERYTHING So if this is the first impression, I can't imagine it gets a whole lot better

I took a sample class and loved it. Then bought a six pack. Will be a full time member shortly…read more Very classy place and clean. Great managers and trainers. Location amazing. Highly recommended.

But that's what I deserve for being so lackadaisical about my fitness... for the past few years. Yep. It really has been in the range of years since I was on a decent workout regimen, and unfortunately, it shows. In a little over a week I leave for the Domincan Republic with my partner in crime, Dana G. A little over two days ago I tried on a swimsuit at local retailer and had to double take... in a really sh*tty and depressing kind of way. A head turner, my buns were not; a stomach turner was more how I felt about it. It was that exact moment that I decided to finally take my girls Joanne W, Aimee M, and Ericka A up on their Patriot Boxing TRX fitness regimen... and I was dragging Dana G with too, because if there was a chance I might go down in a sweaty ball of out-of-shape unglory, she was coming with me. Our instructor was Janet... wait for it... Jackson. Sorry, but when your name's Janet Jackson you're probably well aware of the fact it's impossible to call you by just your first name. At first, well, at first I was afraid. I was petrified. I was actually visibly scared, as Joanne pointed out ,and not really sure what kind of crazy jukin' moves they were going to try and make me do on those new fangled sex sling lookin' things. Then not even a moment later the class had begun and there was no time to be scared, petrified, afraid or anything but intensely determined to prove to myself that I could do it. What I liked about Janet's class as opposed to other fitness classes that I've attended is that she doesn't yell at you. She doesn't single you out, she doesn't criticize, and she treats you like an adult- not a prisoner... as was my experience in most other fitness classes I'd tried in my life. I like that she's loud but not in a drill sergeant kind of way- more of a hype man/motivational kind of thing. And she won't get in your face and push you to push yourself to a point you aren't yet ready for. She understands that we're all adults, that we're all there for a reason and that we know our own limits and our own threshold for them. And I appreciate that to no end. I also loved that the class sizes were fairly small- I think there were 9 people in ours, and not intimidating for first timers. Janet took the time to learn our names and give positive words of encouragement. TRX with JJ is a total #WIN. As for the facility itself, it was certainly a little intimidating at first, what with the boxing and cage fighting happening simultaneously- plus all the sweaty men and that sort of pee smell that always hangs around when there are a bunch of them working out together. But I did really like that for one monthly rate you can take any of the offered classes at any time. And it was neat to see some of the smaller girls who were taking the boxing classes next to the big burly bag-punching men. You go, girl! Will I be back? Well, I'll have to see how my new schedule comes together a bit better but I wouldn't be surprised to find myself TRXing it up with the gang in the future. But for now, I'm going to try and re-learn how to wipe my butt, because the system I've been using has proven to be a little too painful for this TRX novice. (Yowza- That smarts!)

The staff feels like friends/ family, the workouts are always challenging, and the members are the most accepting and welcoming group of people. Don't expect a refund and realize it is very difficult and costly to get out of a membership. This place draws you in on the 6 Week Challenge but it is all a money scam. The staff push the membership instead and offer you a flash drive with meal suggestions which they consider the nutritional offering. Maybe if you hesitate enough, they may even throw in a pair of gloves. But you pay for them too because you can't easily get your membership cancelled. The staff "forget" to cancel your membership or there is a paperwork error only to realize you are continuously being charged. I had to call my credit card company and tell them to block this charge in order to get it to stop. This was only after being charged an additional $200 "early cancellation fee." The whole thing is a money scam. I met very few people who were regular members and stuck with the exercise plan. In fact I witnessed health crises where people had to break from the class to rest or actually leave the facility only to be called out by the staff and humiliated for taking care of their own health. There is no acknowledgement of fitness and out of shape people are brought into rigorous classes with no regard for health and conditioning. It's a scary health situation that is a disaster in the making. I recommended the staff create leveled classes. For example, beginner to learn the fundamentals, middle to push the exercise, and advanced for the full out program. I was told this is not the place for that and if people couldn't keep up they shouldn't join. But clearly many out of shape people looking for a chance to get back into exercise are signed up with no regard for health and ability to keep up. There is a heart attack waiting at the door of this place. It is not worth it especially because there are many well respected and caring trainers available to work with people for far less the cost than this place. Think before you sign.
